Epilogue Chapter 1: Together

Just as a heads up for everyone. I’ve changed my writing style since I officially ended this book in September of 2019. Now that I’m adding on a few highly requested chapters/a renewed epilogue, of course my writing style will differ from then. Hope you enjoy the first of 3-5 new chapters. Of course I’m juggling a oneshot book as well as a Todoroki x Reader chapter book so new chapters aren’t gonna be pumped out within days of each other like they used to.

It’s been easily a month since Ark the Iron Fist triumphantly defeated one of the League of Villain’s core members: Dabi. The villain put up a good fight as he nearly forced the Number 2 Hero, Hawks, into an early retirement and done the same to one of UA’s most successful students, Katsuki Bakugou. Thanks to (Y/n)’s head injury, she’s been out of school for recovery and was only recently given the greenlight to continue her studies. The same was said about her significant other. Bakugou had to undergo physical therapy thanks to his fight with Dabi as his arm was burnt to the third degree. The blonde has came a long way since then. Although his arm isn’t as strong as it once was, now the skin of his arm and hand dark and leathery, he’ll work triple as hard to come back with a spring in his step. He’s excited to be back in school! Bakugou wants to show off his new quirk after all.

“We’re going to class today and don’t give me the ‘My head hurts!’ excuse again!” There Bakugou went! He’s practically breathing down his girlfriend’s neck all to make sure she makes it to school after long procrastination. She knew he meant well from the get go, and Bakugou was correct nevertheless. (Y/n) really does need to return to school.

“You know,” (Y/n) playfully sighed as she buttoned up her uniform jacket. “You could’ve went back to school days or even weeks ago. You didn’t have to wait for me.”

“Yeah,” Bakugou chuckled. “Not fucking happening.” (Y/n) rolled her eyes. “We’re partners now. We stick together, fight together and shove our new quirk into everyone's faces together!” Well, one thing for sure is that Bakugou really was owning the fact that he’s sharing his dream with his girlfriend. He’d never think of splitting apart from her, not in a million years. Especially after she nearly died for him. You gotta express your love somehow!

“Okay fine,” (Y/n) embraced Bakugou’s arm as they entered UA’s doors after weeks of separation. “Two halves make a whole and you can’t show off half a quirk right?” The girl allowed a small ember of blue flames crackle at the palm of her hand.

Bakugou peered down at her hand. His scarred hand reached for his girlfriend’s delicate hand with the same crackling ember to conjoin for a bounty of beautiful flames. “Right.”

Despite that, (Y/n) almost instantly noticed how weak his hand had become even after a full recovery and physical therapy to match. Bakugou used to hold her hand firmly. It wasn’t uncomfortable or crushing, but a genuine hold to show he’d never let go of her. Now, his hold was strangely loose, his strength differed like pulses from strangulating to delicate. “Are you doing okay?” (Y/n) hummed. “Can you not keep the strength in this hand? You’re basically shaking!”

“It doesn’t hurt anymore if that’s what you’re asking,” Bakugou grumbled. “I can only do the bare minimum with this hand. My handwriting is dog shit…” The boy retracted his hand as it continued to shake. Bakugou used his strong hand to massage the other.

“You haven’t answered me,” (Y/n) frowned. “Are you okay? Is your hand bothering you?”

“Yes! Fuck!” Bakugou snapped. “It doesn’t stop shaking! I can’t do jack shit with it! I’d fucking blow Scar Face’s arm right off and see how he feels!”

“We’ll work on it” (Y/n) reached over and pulled Bakugou’s bad hand towards her lips. Her plush lips pressed to his palm, “Now do you feel better?” Because a kiss to your ouchies always helped as a kid. Recovery Girl’s quirk also works the exact same way.

Bakugou’s face went pale, “I could barely feel that…”

“The doctor said you had some nerve damage-”

“Don’t remind me,” he growled and oh lookie here! They’ve magically made it to Class 1. A. It was flat out expected that he kicked the door open. Within lies an unexpected surprise. The class was smiling ear to ear and clapping wildly at the sight of their classmates returning after a loooong medical leave. “Fucking… Wonderful…” Bakugou glared at the class.

“Welcome back!” Everyone cheered.

“Way to make a big debut lovebirds,” Kaminari snickered.

“WE ALL saw the fight on the news… It. Was. Awesome!!!” Ashido and Hagakure jumped in joy.

“And I didn’t expect you to come back to school just yet,” Mr. Aizawa hummed towards his daughter. “Nice to see you back.”

(Y/n) began to tear up, “I never realized how much I missed the class!”

“Whoa!” Uraraka approached Bakugou. Her wallnut eyes were drawn to the dark flesh of his arm. “Are you okay? Is that where you got burned?”

“Looks painful,” Tsu ribbits.

Bakugou’s entire body became engulfed within radiant blue flames silencing the class. “I don’t need a damn pity party!!!” The boy roared as his entire body heaved and huffed through deep breaths. The entire class stood as close as they could to the blonde without the heat of his flames being too unbearable. So mystifying yet sadly recognizable for their destructive ways.

Midoriya didn’t think lightly of the newfound sight, “you… Took… You took that villain’s quirk?” Midoriya already didn’t like the news that All for One was passed onto his mentor’s daughter but the fact that she used it in general was heartbreaking. Here Midoriya thought it was a good thing All for One wasn’t a threat anymore but the quirk surely made its mark on everyone around it.

“It’s fine,” (Y/n) stepped away from Bakugou’s side. “Toshi and Aizawa agreed with the decision to take Dabi’s quirk away. He can’t hurt people anymore.”

“You don’t need to explain,” Midoriya sadly closed his eyes. “I was already told that the decision was for the greater good, I just… I just find it wrong that you stole the quirk in general and gave it to… One of the worst people you could give it to.” Just as Bakugou was about to snap again, Midoriya continued. “I don’t mean that in a bad way Kacchan,” Midoriya frowned. “It’s just… Knowing how destructive and dangerous your explosion quirk is, now you’re adding another lethal quirk into your arsenal. The public will view you as a villain even more and you’ll have a harder time saving people,” throughout that little speech, Bakugou’s flames died down little by little but patches of blue remained as they burned at his flesh.

Bakugou’s crimson orbs locked with Midoriya’s emerald green. “You just had to pile that on me Deku,” the blonde clicked his tongue.

“You don’t need that quirk Kacchan,” Midoriya sighed. “If anything… It’s hurting you.” Midoriya wasn’t going to mention it, but there was an extremely odd odor that brushed with everyone’s noses and he had a big idea of where it was coming from. The odor was foul… Burning hair, burnt meat, charcoal and yet nothing was on fire besides Bakugou himself. The male began to groan with the completion of Midoriya’s claim as his hand ghosted where flames burned at his cheek. The flame went out, but his skin was red, almost burgundy.

“F-fuck…” Bakugou began to shake. “No wonder that fucker is covered in scars…”

“Katsuki…” (Y/n) breathed. Bakugou’s hurting. Has he never used Dabi’s quirk for long periods before now? It’s eating him alive. “He’s right…” She sadly agreed.

“You all can fuck off,” Bakugou spun on his heel and left the room. They all knew that he was going to the nurse, but they all felt that he was fighting something fierce on the inside. Something nobody understood.

(Y/n) too felt a pain in her heart. She’s only ever seen Bakugou this upset one other time and that was when she threatened to end the relationship after he bullied Midoriya into a suspension. He needs help more than ever.

“Kirishima…” (Y/n) looked over at her red haired friend. “Let’s go.”

“I don’t care if I get burned,” Kirishima stepped forward and lied a hand upon his friend’s shoulder. “I’m gonna give him a hug. They always make people feel better.” And thus, the pair went down to the Nurse’s office where Bakugou just earned a kiss to the cheek by the girl of wonders herself. The burn melted from his face within an instant leaving his skin flawless once again. “Hey… Bro… How ya feelin?” Kirishima stepped forward.

“I’m dealing with enough crap as it is and then Deku had to put more on me,” Bakugou crossed his arms.

“Are we really gonna deny the fact that…” (Y/n) sighed. It hurt going against Bakugou’s wishes. “Midoriya’s right.”

“You won’t take this damn quirk from me!” Bakugou grits his teeth. “We share, SHARE this quirk!”

“But you!” Kirishima spoke up.

“Shut up!” the Blonde snapped and turned back to his girlfriend. “Yeah! This quirk hurts me like a mother fucker! But it’s a quirk I share with you. I feel a deep connection with you through it. Whenever you use the quirk, whenever you’re close, I can tell. I don’t want to lose that,” little by little, Bakugou calmed down. He views this quirk as a curse and a gift all wrapped up into one.

“Is it worth destroying your body for?” (Y/n) was touched deeply by Bakugou’s words but she only wants what’s best for him. (Y/n) would gladly be quirkless right now if it meant Bakugou would be better off.

“No,” Bakugou shook his head. “I’ve been working on how to better control the damned quirk. I won’t back down from a challenge. No more ‘You save me’ or ‘I save you’ business. I WILL perfect this quirk so that we can fight together and win together (Y/n).”

It’s Bakugou’s deep love for (Y/n) and pride that’s keeping him from forfeiting his cremation quirk. And for that, (Y/n) can’t bring herself to take from him. (Y/n) held Bakugou’s bad hand with care. She allowed the embers within her hands to show. “Notice how small this fire is in my hands?” the boys nodded in unison. “It becomes strong when it joins yours,” Bakugou made a fire as (Y/n)’s hands met his to make that large fire that they’ve made a million times since acquiring this new quirk. “Like you can’t have peanut butter without jelly or a fish without water… I have one half, and you have one half. They make a whole and can’t thrive without the other.” Upon pulling her hands away, their fire died. “We’ll perfect this quirk together Katsuki… And we’ll show Deku that you’re deserving of the quirk.”

Katsuki held (Y/n)’s hands, “together.”

Alright, it’s a short chapter but i’m happy with it. Cut me some slack, it’s been over six months since I wrote for this book. I have big plans for the next few chapters.
