Even if I wanted to stay away, I simply couldn't since to you and the world, I was your best friend who is supposed to be there for you. For the next few weeks, I saw you the happiest, to which I couldn't help but smile at.

But did you ever sense my broken heart behind that smile which was always gleaming for you? Or the pain in my eyes whenever you looked at me? I never told a soul but deep down, a flame had extinguished that day. 

A flame of hope and affection, which was ignited by you yourself.

It seemed unfair to be chosen over even after staying with you all this time, remaining when all was gone. But again, was it fair for you to give up your happiness for something I was too late for?
