I arrived at the diner at 7:45. I only saw one guy wiping down tables. The Bell above the door jingled as I walked inside. The guy looked up "Can I help you?" He asked. " I'm Meg the new hire."
       "Oh great, I'm Zach. Carly should be here soon. I'm just cleaning up before the second breakfast rush." He said throwing the damp towel over his shoulder. " Second breakfast rush?" I asked. " Yeah, see a lot of people show up at 6 AM. Then we have a second rush at 8 AM." He said going behind the counter. His light brown curly hair was a mess, his blue eyes looked tired. I guess after being up all night I would be tired too.
       He came back with his stuff. "See you around Meg." "You too, bye." And with that he left. Minutes later the door jingled again and a girl came in. "You must be Carly." I said. "Yea hi, are you Meg? Bo said the new girl was coming in today." Carly smiled. She looked around my age with blonde hair pulled back into a ponytail and side swept bangs, bright blue eyes.
       "Yeah, it's nice to meet you. You wouldn't by any chance want to trade uniforms would you? You look more my size than the girl that owned this before me." I said pulling at the material on the bottom of the dress. Carly laughed. "Yeah Elizabeth was a tiny little thing." Said Carly. "I see that." I laughed with her. "These things really are horrible, but working for Bo is pretty great so we all put up with them." She shrugged.
       The bell above the door jingled and a family walked in. That would be the second breakfast rush. "Okay we'll alternate people coming in, my side'll be the right you take the left. I'll take them they're regulars." Said Carly. "Sounds good!" I agreed. We had a very busy morning but at ten the second breakfast rush was over.
       "We'll get busy again in about an hour, for now we rest." She said sighing. It was my turn to get the next costumer. But I'd hope it would be a while. I heard the familiar growl of a motorcycle. I saw Jake pull up and hop off of the motorcycle with his leather jacket on. He strode up into the diner the bell above the door jingling.
       "Oh my goodness, that guy is so hot! I'll trade you!!" Hissed Carly. Jacob walked up to me. "Wow, that uniform is even better in person." He said laughing. Carly looked from Jacob to me. I rolled my eyes. "Dork, sit anywhere. Want some coffee?" I asked. "Sure thanks, I don't need anything to eat though I just wanted to come up here and see you in action." He said laughing. "Jerk, see if I don't spit in your coffee." I said walking off.
       I picked up the coffee pot from the back and as I was heading around the corner Carly grabbed my sleeve. "You know that guy??" She hissed. "Yea, he's my roommate Jacob." I said. "Oh you are lucky, would it be okay if I asked him out?" She bit her lip drooling. "No, I'd rather you not. I don't want things to get weird and I take it he just got out of a bad relationship." I said. She frowned. "Boo, that's no fun!" She said pouting. She leaned on her arms staring at Jacob.
       "Everything okay?" He asked looking from me to Carly. "Oh yea, it's fine. My co-worker just has a crush on you." I said shrugging as I poured him a cup of coffee. I took a seat across from him in the booth.
       "Well how's the first day going?" He asked. "Good! It's not terribly busy." I nodded. "And how are the tips?" He smirked. "Jerk." I grinned at him. I caught Carly out of the corner of my eye staring him down. "She still staring?" Jacob asked. "Oh yea." I snorted. He shook his head. "I'm flattered. Should I go over there?" He cocked his head. "Don't you dare! You'll only encourage her." I said shaking my head. He grinned but it didn't go all the way to his eyes. Just you wait Jacob Black that's my mission.
       "So did you just come down here to make fun of me?" "That's One of the reasons. But you looked kind of frazzled this morning I just wanted to make sure you were OK." "Oh really?" I asked shocked. "Or I just wanted to make fun of you." He shrugged. But I knew it was more than that. I knew he had come to check on me. And it made my heart swell. "I know we've only been roommates a few days. But I really appreciate that." I said.
       "What? Me making fun of you? Well if that's the case I'll come down here every day if you'd like." He joked. "Not that. Coming to...you know, check on me." He shrugged. "It's really not a big deal. I didn't have anything else to do." But to me it was a big deal. I've never had anybody check on me like that besides my mom. But I suppose that was a given.                                                                            "Well I'll let you get back to it." He said knocking his knuckles on the table. He pulled out a twenty and set it on the table. "That's for the dress." He winked laughing and running out of the diner before I could throw something at him. Carly came over taking his abandoned seat. "Oh man you are so lucky you get to room with that guy, I mean he is. I don't know that I've ever met a person in real life that cute." She said. "Yea I guess he's okay looking." I shrugged. "So have you seen him naked yet?" She asked her eyes shining. "Have I what? I don't even know if i want to dignify that with an answer." I said. "Oh you so have!" She gasped.

       "I have not, he was in a towel thank you very much." I said. "Now that I wouldn't mind seeing..." She said dreamily in her own world. "You're crazy." I said balling up a napkin and throwing it at her. I picked up his cup and wiped down the table. The lunch rush was going to be here soon. I liked working at this diner. It was calming. Not crazy like the big restaurant I worked at in port Angeles. "The bloated toad". I mean who doesn't love to serve big servings of Italian food? Me. It's totally me.

       After the lunch time rush from 11-1 things calmed down. But I was told they would pick back up from 5-7. Thankfully it wasn't my shift. I got my stuff and headed toward the door. "Do ya want my number, you know in case you wanna send me any pictures..." "What? No. I gotta go." I said backing out of the door. "Yea, I would too. Bye." Carly waved. "See you tomorrow." I said shaking my head.
