That's cute....

JUST AS A WARNING, I AM BRINGING UP A TOPIC THAT MAY OR MAY NOT GROSS OUT A FEW PEOPLE. DEPENDING ON AGE, GENDER, AND MATURITY, OF COURSE.....

Okay, with the disclaimer out of the way, I have a little something to say about menstrual cycles. I will wholeheartedly agree that having some exercise will help you to feel better. It helps your mood and it helps you to have some less severe symptoms. Plus, at least for me any way, staying away from caffeine (like non-herbal teas and chocolate) and sugary foods do help any bloating or severe cramps that occur during this long once-a-month process. However, regardless of whatever internet tips there are, there is one particular 'debunked' section of menstrual cycles (or periods, curses, monthly friends...whatever you call them) that I will not listen to. No matter how many times you tell me it's fine...

I AM NOT GETTING INTO THE POOL, OCEAN, OR BATHTUB WHEN I AM ON MY PERIOD!!!!!

You can tell me all you want to that it's fine and that your period will not be leaking that frequently to cause problems! I don't care if tampons or dixie cups or whatever these weird period items are keep the blood from leaking everywhere...I absolutely refuse to swim or take a bath on my period! I take a SHOWER and it looks like a murder scene! Don't talk to me about a BATH! The point of it is to be CLEAN, not to look like a serial killer!

Now, I'm sure everyone has their own ideas about menstrual cycles and even has ones different than mine. For example, my period cramps are so violent that a nice happy jog is not going to make them go away. I have to take pills! And even with those combos, I still feel tight cramping! If I didn't do these things, I'd be vomiting all over the floor! However, everyone has a different experience, and perhaps for some of you reading this, you may be thinking, "Yeah...tell me it's good all you want, but I am not yoga-ing or doing any exercise when I can't even SNEEZE without making a flood!" And that's fine. But this is one particular thing that I will not be doing during my unfortunate time of the month.

I hope this wasn't too gross to read, but I see people having no trouble with discussing these things online, so I just hope that this is taken as just something people enjoy expressing. Is there any period "tips" that you guys have heard that sound ridiculous and you refuse to follow them? Or are you the opposite of me and you have no trouble with swimming during that time of the month?
