Nostalgic Days
Do you ever just wander about and then one day see an old show and remember, "Hey! I used to watch that!" or you try to remember the old themes of shows you watched that your brain barely remembers because it was decades ago? Well...so do I. In fact, there were a lot of old shows I remember watching as a kid. I didn't watch Spongebob or Fairly Oddparents... or Barney, Bill Nye the Science Guy (I actually didn't even hear about him until the end of high school), Mr. Rogers Neighborhood...But there were a lot of other shows I did watch....
In fact, since I'm in a nostalgic mood now...I'm going to play them all for you. If any of you guys remember this, nice! If not, or if you remember earlier shows, feel free to chime in! Obviously, some of these shows have been around longer than I was alive, but some of them still hold strong today, so...
Let's start from the oldest to the newest.
1) Sesame Street...Premiered November of 1969.
Sesame Street has changed drastically since I was a kid. And since my parents were kids actually, now that I'm thinking about it. Now, when I watched this show, I was between 3 and 5, so this meant that the intro I watched was between 1997-2001. Roughly. I have to say, the earlier renditions of Sesame Street are my personal favorites, but this is the one I'm familiar with. I wasn't around to see the Muppets on the screen, but my parents were, so....

2) The Golden Girls...Premiered November of 1985
Now, I didn't grow up watching this show, but I was slowly introduced to it as I got older and older and older. It has some foul language in it, so my parents had to monitor my viewing , but I remember being young and watching it. In fact, the very first one was The Case of the Libertine Bell. Great episode.

3) Rugrats...Premiered in 1991. I'd tell you the month if some website would cooperate.
Now, this show I didn't watch as a little kid. At least for a while. I used to watch it, but I also was the kind of kid that liked to imitate everything that I saw on the screen, and my mom said I used to imitate Angelica a lot. (Though since I used to hate Susie Carmichael and rooted for Angelica to win...I think I get why that happened). I was allowed to watch the show when I was older and more mature. By then there was a sequel series too, but I still have a soft spot for the very original series.

4) The Comfy Couch...Premiered March of 1992
I remember very little about this show actually. The last time I remember watching it, I was five years old. But I used to be very obsessed with this show as a kid apparently. I had several of the vhs tapes for it, I had a Lunette doll, and I even had a little chair! Oh no wait...that was Sesame Street. Well, I do remember many of the characters: Lunette, Molly, Major Bedhead, Snicklefritz, and those funny dustbunnies underneath the couch. Heh heh. Gosh this brings back very few memories....X)

5) The Nanny...Premiered November 1993
This show I remember seeing very vaguely as a kid, but I didn't see much of it; I only saw one or two episodes. When I was a little older, say eight-ish...I was finally allowed to watch more of the shows. Then the show seemed to vanish and I didn't see it for ages. It doesn't play anymore on t.v. However, I did beat the system. I have half of the seasons on DVD!!!

6) The Magic School Bus...Premiered September of 1994
For those of you who watch The Magic School Bus: Rides Again, I will just say that I have a small bias toward the original show simply due to the small matter of continuity. I hate when there's a continuity error! It just grates on my nerves! Didn't realize there was an original Magic School Bus, or didn't realize there was a new rendition...well, come back in time with me to the olden days. I remember this show very well because I remember being a kid and getting so excited when school was canceled from the snow because that meant I could watch the Magic School Bus with my cereal. Plus, commercials were much less annoying back then. We could wash our cereal bowls, grab our favorite stuffed animals and blankies, and then hurry back to the couch and not miss anything!!!!
Sorry...being a little too nostalgic over here....

7) Arthur...Premiered in 1996, the very year I was born. (I don't know what month because wikipedia decided it didn't feel like telling me).
This show has been around for a long time. In fact, I think the show is still going on! It's like the Simpsons! No, not really. I don't even watch that show. Anyway, I loved the show. Still do. my favorite character was actually D.W.
Actually, why on earth were all of my favorite characters the ones who are considered by parental standards brats?

8) PB&J Otter...Premiered March of 1998
I remember very few episodes from this show, but I remember The Noodle Dance, a few episodes, a few of the characters, and so on.

9) Out of the Box...Premiered October of 1998
The sad thing about this show is that I remember it the least out of all of my childhood shows. Even less than Sesame Street or the Comfy Couch! I can jog my memory for a brief second and remember that there was some creativity aspects about the show, including cool arts and crafts stuff...but that's all I can remember. I remember the theme song like the back of my hand. But I remember little else. Kind of sad, honestly.

10) Zoom...Premiered January of 1999
I actually remember very little about this show, but I know I watched it because I very distinctly remember the opening theme song. My mom for some reason was not a fan of the show, so that's why, but I remember seeing brief flashes of this show, so I know that at some point, little four year old or younger me watched some of it. Just the first season though.

11) Zoboomafoo...Premiered January of 1999
This was another show that my mom hated, but I actually remember more of it than some of the other earlier shows I was introduced to. I remember the claymation scenes, the random animals roaming around, and the food dispensers. And the big fat jungle gym. Not much, but I remember enough.

12) Dragon Tales...Premiered September of 1999
Me and my sister loved this show! I think I remember more of the earlier episodes, but I remember a ton. Even the episode where everybody first meets. I just remember having a lot of fun with the show. I think my favorite one was where Max scared the blue dragon...I forget his name...and then he revealed that he was scared of snakes.... And then there were episodes where they had to take care of a baby, and one person had to go home early from a sleepover...it was so weird too because they sounded older...the dragons I mean...but then they acted like kids...you saw the blue dragon...okay hold the phone...Ord. You meet Ord's mom...AND SHE'S FREAKING HUGE! Like...WHOA!!!!!

13) Between the Lions...Premiered April of 2000
I actually completely forgot I watched this show until I was scrolling past various them songs, and then I saw this intro. And suddenly, I remembered, "OH MY GOSH! I REMEMBER THIS!" Apparently it was a reading show, which when combined with other aspects of my childhood history, is now reminding me of how I probably learned how to read before I went off to Kindegrarten....

14) Dora the Explorer...Premiered August 2000
This old show dates back to when my sister and me were tiny kids. Every one of my sisters has loved Dora. Well almost. My youngest sister liked Ni hao Kai lan which is similar to Dora, but not quite. Anyway, I remember a lot of the original episodes, including the original theme song which took place on a computer. It was pretty cool. Though honestly, I think this is the only show where I like the updated version. The updated version of this theme song has action in it! Like...cooooooooool!!!!

15) George Shrinks...Premiered September 2000
I remember a few episodes of this show though not the base of it. I don't know why George is tiny. It's been a while. But I remember the many troubles he runs into being the size of a thumb tack, like kids trying to play with him like he's a toy. It was a fun series. And that theme song was CATCHY!!!

16) Stanley...Premiered September 2001
Iiiiiiiiiiit's...theeeeeeeeeeeeeeee...Great Big Book of Everything, with everything inside....something something something...this book's a perfect guide!
I remember most of that song! And I loved this show! Like, to a T! I'm actually not even sure who came up with that; it's such a strange expression. Anyway, I loved this show. It's old. But I still love it to bits.

17) Sagwa the Chinese Siamese cat...Premiered September of 2001
This is another show I didn't watch a lot of. My mother wasn't a huge fan of it. However, I was older than I was when I saw some of the earlier shows which means I remember a lot more of it. And by more I mean the only episode I remember is the one where the emperor's daughters kept making mistakes while cooking dumplings. I don't remember much but I remember it being cute and fun.

18) Cyberchase...Premiered January of 2002
I remember pretty much this entire theme song and most of the episodes of this, but only because this is the only show I watched every day after school. It also helped that it was on television for a long time. Every day after school...that's how much I watched this show. It was fun, entertaining, helped you with math...CUE THE MUSIC!!!

19) Jimmy Neutron...Premiered July of 2002
I didn't watch a lot of this show, but I've watched it enough and late in life enough to remember a lot of the episodes. I liked how Jimmy's a genius, but he still makes mistakes like any normal kid would do. I also like how his above average IQ creates both problems and advantages for him. he was cool but an outcast at the same time. Plus I liked the episode where the kids had their own newscast show....that was hysterical!!!!

20) The Berenstain Bears...Premiered January 2003
This is one of the few shows where I read the books first. (Or saw them. A girl told me they were 'bad' books, and being my gullible self, I put the book away and didn't read it until a much later time). I read a lot of book series as a kid but this was one of my favorites. In fact, I had a little book about Papa bear getting honest from a bee tree and getting stung a gazillion times in the butt. And I remember quite a few episodes too, some of which were either based off the books or had books based off of them. Either way it was a good series.

I'm sure that there are other shows that I might have watched as a little kid, but those shows are long gone from my mind. And the other shows on when I was a kid were either more of my younger sisters' shows or were shows I HATED.
What shows do you remember from your childhood? Any of these ring a bell? Are there any other ones you grew up with? Have fun remembering the olden days!
