Can you repeat that please?
NOTE: THE FOLLOWING EXPERIENCE IS NOT HERE TO OFFEND ANYONE IN ANY STATE. THIS IS JUST HERE TO HOPEFULLY ELICIT LAUGHS OR SHARE SIMILAR EXPERIENCES.
I've noticed over the course of several years that each state has their own vocabulary. I'm being serious. Now, I'm not going to go an say that I have a great accent or great grammar because, well, I don't. And to other people, my accent or way of saying things might be strange. But I think, in general, certain states have various accents or strange grammar. And even then, southern or northern states have an either more subtle or more obvious one.
For example, in New Jersey, I've heard people say "Youse guys." (Mostly on Cake Boss). In certain parts of New Jersey, you can really hear the accent. Like, it's thick! People call New Jersey New Juwsey. Kind of.
In Ohio, I've heard people call "crayons" "crowns". Or they'll say, "It needs fixed" instead of "It needs to be fixed" or "it needs fixing".
Even my parents have a slight accent. Granted, they're from the more subtle part of New Jersey, but I've heard them say "Yestaday" instead of "yesterday" or "coafee" verus "coffee".
I don't think people necessarily do it on purpose. I think it's just their accent. Like, they'll pronounce the word, but not realize that, to people in other states, it sounds a lot different than how they're used to it.
Hmm...I wonder what I say funny.....
