CHAPTER 21

I shout Tamara's name for the tenth time tonight to come down, so we can leave for the party. I decided to take Tamara with me as back up. She was also surprised by the way Hannah behaved when she saw me. Neither of us can tell if she's pretending or not.

"I am so sorry; I had to change my shoes twice." She says, walking down the stairs.

"It's fine, let's go." We walk to the car outside, and I drive us to Hannah's house.

Stepping out of the car, I walk towards her backyard, my heart beating fast against my chest. I don't know why but I've got this eerie feeling in my stomach.

We enter the gardens, and the place is packed with people. I look around to try and find Hannah or a face I recognize, but I find none. I'm about to dial her number when I hear her voice call me from behind.

I turn around, and my heart immediately twinges. Beau is standing beside her with an arm wrapped around her waist. My heart tightens in my chest, seeing those hands I love on her. I knew Beau would be here, but I wasn't expecting it to be this painful to see him with Hannah.

"Delilah?" The shock is evident in his voice as he says my name. He must not have known I was coming. I watch as his hand remains on her waist and tightens. My heart clenches again. I know I'm not supposed to care, but I do. I told him I loved him a week ago, and even though I would like to believe it was just because of the mind-blowing orgasm he gave me, I know it goes deeper than that. But I still don't want to accept that the tears stinging the back of my eyes are because I'm hurt that the man I love belongs to someone else.

"I'm so happy you were able to make it!" Hannah says, snapping me out of my thoughts and making me take my eyes away from his hand on her waist. I haven't seen him in a week, but he's still just as handsome. I've been avoiding his calls and any chance of running into him. I needed some time to think after I blurted out how I felt, and I didn't want to give Hannah any more reasons to suspect us by reaching out.

"Me too," I reply to her, faking a smile as I lock eyes with Beau. He stares at me with what looks like remorse, but his actions don't show that. I can bet he can see the pain in my eyes. I need to leave; this was a mistake. It's too much.

"Hannah, I'm so sorry, but—".

She cuts me off. "Come, I want to introduce you to some people." Grabbing my hand, she drags me away.

BEAU

I stare as Hannah walks away with Delilah. I haven't seen her in a week, and when I finally do it's at the worst possible time. I should've known my mother was up to something when she didn't say anything about finding Delilah's underwear at my place last week. I can't believe my mother made my fiancée do this. If I didn't see for myself how Hannah was behaving around Delilah, I wouldn't believe it. The woman is acting like Delilah is not the reason why I don't want to marry her. It pains me that Delilah saw my arm around Hannah. I felt like crushing Hannah's waist as my hand rested there. I wouldn't even be surprised if I bruised her with how tight I was holding on. If only I knew what Hannah had planned for tonight, I could stop her.

Fuck!

I'm beyond frustrated with this whole situation. Hopefully the seed I planted last week will work. I plan to stall my wedding to Hannah as long as possible to give it time to grow. Maybe then I can finally be with Delilah. But having her show up here was the last thing I expected. I need a drink.

"Scotch on the rocks, please," I order once I arrive at the bar.

"Make it two," Harvey says, coming to stand beside me and looking upset.

"Here you go, sirs." The bartender says and places our drinks in front of us.

"Even though I'm still angry with you for ratting me out to my mother," I say to Harvey. "I do still care about you, so I'm going to ask. What's wrong?" His sour mood could be sensed from a mile away.

Harvey knocks back his drink before answering. "Tamara." He pushes the glass back toward the bartender. "Another. And make sure my glass isn't empty while I'm here."

"Harvey, we talked about this. Your obsession with her isn't healthy."

"Says the man who forced his way into his ex's life."

"My situation with Delilah is different. You're hurting Tamara with your obsession of her."

"And you aren't doing the same to Delilah?" Harvey asks, raising a dark brow at me while tilting his head to the side.

"At least I'm doing it because I love her. You, on the other hand, are just bothering Tamara because you can't get her out of your head."

He chuckles darkly. "It's more than that."

"How so?" I ask, then notice Tamara as she walks into the gardens. "Speaking of the devil," I say, pointing my glass toward her. Harvey turns, his nostrils flaring and his eyes darkening.

That's not good.

"I can't believe she fucking disobeyed me," Harvey says, slamming his glass on the bar. It shatters, almost injuring the bartender.

"Sorry about that," I apologize to the flustered man before turning back to Harvey. "Hey! You could have hurt someone," I bark, but he barely glances at me. All his attention is focused on Tamara, who is oblivious to the anger she is stirring in him.

"I think I need to fucking rip that dress off of her to make her understand I don't fucking want her wearing it," Harvey growls before storming off in her direction.

Oh my God! I follow to try and stop him before he makes her cry, as he always does. He needs to stop with this and leave the poor girl alone.

"I asked you to go home and change," Harvey is saying as I get there. "Why are you still here?" He grabs Tamara's arm.

"And I told you, you can't tell me what I can or cannot wear." Tamara tries to get her arm free, but Harvey only tightens his grip.

"Don't test my patience, woman." Harvey says, pulling her closer to him. "I'll rip it off you right here."

"I dare you," Tamara says, not backing down.

Harvey moves his other hand to Tamara's shoulder. That's my cue to stop this. Delilah already has enough reason to hate me. I don't need not protecting her friend from my mad cousin added onto the list.

"I think you should let the woman choose what she wishes to wear," I say, grabbing Harvey's hand.

"Fuck off, Beau."

"I would love to, but you'll have to let her go first." I slowly remove his hand from her arm.

"Thank you, Beau," Tamara says, then her gaze shifts to my cousin, eyes narrowed. "Leave me alone, Harvey." With that, she turns on her heel and walks away.

"God! I hate that woman," Harvey exclaims, blowing out a frustrated breath.

"I know." I clap him on the back. "Let's head back to the bar, you need another drink." I lead Harvey back across the party, hoping for everyone's sake that Tamara avoids him for the rest of the night.

We spend the next hour drinking and talking about the two women who wish us both dead.
