|#18. Telling him the Truth|

Losing someone you love is painful. The universe has planned things in such a way that unexpected things happen when you least expect them. It's the same case with Ruhana. She never thought that she would lose both her parents in an accident and that she would have to take care of her sister and herself. Ruhana can feel his gaze on herself, and she gazes at him, trying to read his expressions.

"I wasn't prepared to lose my parents, Vineet. I couldn't imagine my life without them. And I believe that it's Mr. Shekhar behind that massive accident," Ruhana responds, her tone firm.

"How are you so sure?" Vineet asks, and he's surprised at the revelation she just made.

"When he can forge the papers, he can abuse my dad, he can manipulate me to sign the company papers, then can't he plan an accident? I doubted him, Vineet, but no one trusted me. I know, you're also not able to trust me," she glances at him doubtfully.

"Ruhana, you cannot blame him like that...." He tries to speak, but she interrupts him.

"Why not? I have told you so many things, and you say that I should not blame him, Why?" She asks.

"Do you have any proof?" He asks, and he's sure she's not ready for this question.

"What else do you need, Vineet? That day when Mum and Dad went for that meeting, to make up for our loss, why didn't Shekhar uncle go? What was he doing in the study? He never went to the study without Papa. There's something, Vineet. Yeah, I could not get him to confess it, but I am sure, he has done it," Ruhana clenches her fists in anger.

"The police can't get him to spill the truth, he made sure to clear his name from the accident, and that is why I want to enter his company and make him accept his crime," she says, there's fire igniting in her eyes.

Vineet is in awe of this young lady; she's so firm in her decisions that he's unable to pull her down. After all, he can't let her take any action against anyone. While she's in another mood. She's already confessed that she'd kill the person if it were in her hands.

"Ruhana, calm down. Everything will fall into the right places. Trust me. Your anger won't solve any problems. You agree, right?"

"You have already paved your way into Zenith Ventures; slowly, you can work with them and then make Shekhar confess his deeds. It's simple, Ruhana. Don't do anything wrong; I can't let you walk on the wrong path and invite obstacles for yourself," he explains calmly.

Ruhana is staring at him, and she knows that he's right. In the past ten years, she has done everything, be it right or wrong, for her profits. She hasn't seen how her actions have affected the other people with whom she has dealt. Right now, his reasons are good enough to make her realise that she should wait for the right time and then take any action.

Ruhana is thoughtful, and Vineet can guess that she's pondering over her actions. She has been acting impulsively all this time, and now he's giving her a new direction. She comes out of her trance with his voice.

"I know you feel that waiting is like refraining yourself from doing something you desire. But, Ruhana, sometimes waiting is a blessing. When you wait for the right time and work hard, you eventually get what you desire. Trust me."

Vineet has made a valid point, and Ruhana doesn't have any other argument. She sighs deeply.

"You are right, Vineet. Thanks for understanding me. I will try not to act impulsively. But I hope you understand my reasons for being that impulsive and outspoken. Life teaches you everything, Vineet."

"I know there are people who don't lose their sanity, and they don't let their demeanor change. You are such an example, Vineet. And then, it's me who has changed a lot. Just one incident is enough to change the person I was in our childhood," Ruhana says while looking at him.

"It might be wrong from your perspective, but it seemed right to me. Yeah, at times, I feel I've come far away from my roots, but then everything is right in business, just like it seems in love."

"I wanted to be powerful enough to tackle Mr. Bisht and many other people like him. You're right, though; I must not judge people quickly and let things happen." She says this and glances at him.

"You've been the constant force in my life, and I am telling you the truth here. Things have never been easy for me, but you've made them easier for me. Thanks, Vineet." She says, gratitude dripping in her voice.

He has brought good changes to her, and she can't help but agree to them. She has adopted the changes very beautifully, though keeping her rough demeanour intact. She's been rude to Vineet, and he's still sweet and kind towards her.

Telling him the truth has been easier. He seems to understand her and is directing her towards the right path. She's truly thankful for him.

Meanwhile, the housemaid informs them that dinner is ready, and they head into the dining room. Vineet is surprised to see a few of his favorite dishes on the table. He looks at Ruhana, who smiles.

"I hope you still like all of this, do you?" She asks, hopeful that he still loves all the dishes she has prepared.

"Ah, of course, Ruhana. It's hard to change your choices." He exclaimed while taking a seat.

"You have not changed one bit, Vineet. I am glad for that. And I am sorry too." She apologizes, taking him by surprise.

"Sorry? For what?" He asks as he serves some food for himself.

"For all my rudeness and our arguments,. You've certainly changed me a little, but I don't think that I can reciprocate your feelings." She responds, remembering his proposal.

"Ruhana, don't be sorry. I won't force you to do anything. I confessed what I felt; it's not necessary that you feel the same." He smiles at her and gestures for her to have food.

"I am glad you remember my choices, and being your friend is the best thing that has happened to me." He beams at her, and she's touched by his gesture.

He wavers off the tense air around them, and they have their dinner with light chit-chats, reminiscing about their old days. Life seems better at the moment.
