Huuuuuuuuuuu (*'ー`*)
"Puppeteer, you don't need to do this!" Flash yelled as he took a step forward.
"Yes, I do!" I yelled right back.
Flash knew he was vulnerable to me. He was trying to save me, even though he knew he was way over his head. The thought made me smile. I was just a hopeless girl, with crazy abilities that made a mistake. A huge mistake.
But Flash was willing to help me through it. I think he might be my favorite superhero. I'm not going to make him one of slaves, I'll let him go.
Flash ran towards me, when he got close enough, I pushed him away partly using my powers.
He landed on the ground and looked up at me.
"Get out of here before something bad happens," I offered. I was being weak, letting him go.
"Let me help you," he said softly.
"No one can help me."
I turned away, my puppets all followed me. Their eyes were all a dark black. Courtesy of being my slave. My 'puppet strings' all connected them to me. With a twitch of a finger, I could get them to do anything. Eat some soup, run a marathon, kill a child...
On the inside, their brain still functioned. They saw everything and felt everything. They could think. They were slaves in their own body. A horrible thought, really.
I glanced behind me, Flash was gone. Probably to go get some more friends. I sighed, and sat on my rump. Waiting for anything. Powergirl, Green Arrow, and Black Canary all stood by me. It felt weird. I made them sit down, so it wasn't as menacing.
I turned to them, my head resting in my hands.
"I'm really sorry I had to do this to you guys," I said sincerely. I allowed them all the ability to speak, but no one said anything. I sighed.
"Once I get what I want, I'll let you go," I offered.
"The only way they'll give it to you is if every last superhero is taken out," Green Arrow scowled.
"Well, 3 is a good start," I joked. No one cracked a smile. Of course, these are the good guys. They're supposed to be serious all the time. My mind shifted over to the Joker. Why so serious? Yuck. If I ever meet that guy, well, let's hope I don't meet that guy.
"You guys down to fight some good guys?" I questioned when I heard a ruckus from outside the Justice League Hall.
"Never," Powergirl had her eyes narrowed.
"Well, you're gonna fight them anyway. I just hope you don't get killed in the process," I said smirking.
I muted them, and they all stood up in a circle around me, protecting me.
The doors to the hall were smashed open.
"Have fun!" I sent the leaguers to greet my new guests. The other members of the Justice league. I told my puppets to watch each other's backs, and not do anything stupid or drastic. They followed my orders.
In minutes they were fighting, chaos erupted in the hall. Two leaguers approached me, hands raised. Flash and Batman. I was about to raise my hand to make them my puppets when I saw something in Batman's hands.
"Do you have it?" I called out. Batman nodded and raised the item. My eyes were drawn to it. I still can't believe the whole league would want to fight me over this. But I'm willing to fight them for it. Fight until my very last breath.
Why would they just give it to me? This doesn't feel right.
I called my puppets back to me. They stood closely, giving me a feeling of comfort.
I should just make them all my puppets and take it, that would be so much easier.
"You set the leaguers go, and we'll give you the item," Flash said. He looked so worried, so scared and so vulnerable.
"I know exactly what you're doing. I'll set my puppets go and then you'll all attack me and overwhelm me. I'm not happy," I said and paused, looking for reactions. Nothing.
"I have no use of the Justice League members, and the only reason I captured them is for that. Obviously, once I get what I want, I'll let them go, and we'll all walk out of here, at least semi happy." This was true. I have no reason to keep my puppets in my command once I get out of here.
The Leaguers all glanced at each other, clearly surprised.
"Come on, just give it to me. It's not that big of a deal," I said to Flash and Batman. They were all just worried about their secret identity. News flash, I have absolutely no interest in what any of these people look like under the mask. And it's not like I'm gonna go around spurting out their secret identities. Why would I do that? These people have families and friends they need to keep safe, that much I can understand.
It was quiet for the longest time.
"You have 5 minutes to give me the item before I make you all my puppets."
Green Arrow started a timer on his watch.
I didn't say what I would do with them once they were puppets, but I'm sure they're imaging some really weird things. The worst I'd do was probably tie them up, take the item, and leave.
I really could care less for violence. Unnecessary violence that is.
The Leaguers had come together as one now, and they were all staring me down. I didn't flinch. Green Arrow walked over and showed me his watch. 3 minutes left. If they attack me in that time period, I need to be ready.
I stepped back, and Powergirl walked in front of me. The other two were on my sides.
Green Arrow showed me his watch again. 1 minute. I cracked my knuckles. It was going to be fun trying to control all justice league members at once.
I'm gonna go for the strong ones first. Superman, Wonder Woman, Batman, Martian Manhunter. They're the obvious ones. Then they'll help me take down the weaker ones. Like Green Lantern (the white guy), Zatara, Zatanna, Red Arrow, and Flash.
The main person I needed to get was Batman. I've heard that he has contingency plans to take down the entire League, which is what I'm hoping for. Batman probably knows that too. He sank to the back of the group, eyes focused on me.
The timer hadn't even gone off when I started controlling them. Superman and Green Lantern spazzed out and fell to the floor. (That's what happens when I take over someone's body at first) The other leaguers looked furious and tried to come at me. With a twitch of my finger Zatanna, Dr.Fate (who I just noticed) and Wonder-woman were twitching on the ground. The others dropped their hands and looked angry.
Green Arrow's watch went off. I smiled. This will be over in no time. Slowly, my other puppets raised. Zatara clanged on to Zatanna. Superman was walking by and separated the two, then threw Zatara towards the other leaguers. The rest of them walked towards me.
They stood in front of me, and I smirked at the sight of the Flash standing next to them. How cute. Trying to blend in. Wonder Woman wrapped her arms around him and he struggled to move.
"Let me go!"
I shrugged.
"Hey, you're the one who walked over here."
With a thought, Wonder-woman was patting him down, searching for the item. He struggled but relaxed when she stopped. It wasn't there. He didn't have it.
My eyes traveled back to Batman, but he was gone. Alarm flared up in me. I commanded my puppets to circle me, closely. Wonder-Woman threw Flash into the circle with me, and he tried to attack me, but he just fell to the ground freaking out.
Superman used his X-ray vision to find Batman, but he was gone.
"This is just more work then it has to be!" I yelled at the remaining leaguers. They stepped back.
"I'm keeping these leaguers until I get the device," I said. Red Arrow stepped forward, an angry look on his face.
"You can't do that! Let them go!" He raised his bow. He shot, but the arrow was broken into pieces as another arrow intercepted it.
Red looked pissed off.
"These leaguers have families and lives to get back to!" I raised my hand, and he stepped back afraid.
"You don't think I know that?" I said as Zatanna created a portal. My leaguers all walked through, but I kept Superman and Power girl by my side until the last of them were through.
"I just want the piece," I said. Power girl turned and walked through the portal.
"This is inhumane!" He called out. He pulled his bow up. Superman stepped in front of me as the arrow hit his skin and broke.
"You know, you're pretty dumb. The other leaguers know it's a bad idea to fight me, even Batman retreated! Yet you continue to fight me. I think, you just want to come with us, is that it?" I know I was being harsh. But he was annoying me.
Red Arrow fell to the ground. I walked through the portal as Superman carried Red Arrow through it. It closed just as his cape fluttered through. I sighed as it closed.
10 pairs of eyes watched me, and I felt a little insecure.
With a thought, they were all looking somewhere else, but not at me. Zatanna said some words and 5 cages appeared. These cages were power suckers, so their powers wouldn't work inside the cage. The leaguers walked into the cages by twos.
Green Arrow and Green Lantern. Flash and Zatanna. Superman and Red Arrow. Wonder Woman and Power girl. Black Canary and Dr. Fate. I paired people I didn't think got along the greatest together.
After that, I looked around my cave and sighed. I have to take care of 10 superheroes. How boring.
I allowed them the abilities to their bodies back, but if they tried anything, they would be paralyzed before their fingers could twitch.
"You're crazy! The other leaguers are gonna find us, you know!" Red Arrow yelled. He punched the bars and whimpered while holding his hand. I laughed.
"I hope so. It sure is going to be a bother trying to take care of you all when I already have a child to take care of."
They all looked surprised and I smiled. They always think villains are these super evil people, but in reality, we're just people who have no other choice.
"My baby girl loves all the superheroes," I smiled at the thought of her.
"Her favorite is Hawk-woman. Wanna know why? Because she believes that someday she'll be able to fly just like Hawk-woman." My smile diminished. What was I doing. I can't tell these people that.
I turned away, and walked towards a rock jutting out of the ground. I walked behind it and changed into my normal clothes. I kept my mask on though. I walked out, and stood by their cages. They all watched me wearily.
"I'll be back later to give you all food or something. And maybe a bathroom break would be good." I turned away, then turned my head toward them.
"Don't even think about trying to escape. Your powers won't work and if you try anything, you'll be paralyzed until I come back," I warned. I walked and took off my mask and threw it to the side. It's not like they could see my face or anything.
As soon as I was upstairs, I felt a little bad, and turned on the tv downstairs. I could use my strings on things like a tv too. I changed the channel to 19 and smirked. Cartoon Network.
---
I came back early the next morning, already knowing that Red Arrow, Wonder Woman, and Flash were paralyzed.
I plopped down a huge bag of cereal, and sighed. This really was more trouble then it was worth.
I heaved the bag into the cave, huffing as I set it down. Most of the leaguers were sleeping, except for the paralyzed ones and Green Arrow. He was sitting up, looking around everywhere. The tv was still on, so I turned it off with my strings.
I greeted GA with a smile as soon as he could see me.
"When are you gonna let us out of here?" He questioned. I sighed. Of course he'd ask something like that. Why not ask how my day as been going? That would be nice.
"As soon as I get what I want."
I gestured toward my bag.
"Want some cereal?"
His eyes flickered toward the bag, then he looked back up at me with a nod.
"And you don't have to worry, I didn't poison it or anything." I mused. GA rolled his eyes. I guess he wasn't worried.
I grabbed a some plastic bowls and spoons and filled them up with cereal. I handed one to GA.
"No milk?" He questioned.
"I don't have enough milk for that," I said. I poured myself a bowl and went back to the tv. I sat down on the chair there and turned on my favorite show.
I watched that show and finally got bored as the clock ticked 10 AM.
I walked over to the cages and poured a bowl of cereal for whoever was up. I didn't bother helping the paralyzed people. They would have to learn from this.
By the time night rolled around, I was incredibly bored. All day the superheroes had been quiet. Only speak when necessary. They would avoid my eyes.
Those who had to go to the bathroom I allowed to go to the bathroom in my cave, but with me controlling their every move. (But I let them control their own bathroom process...)
I helped the paralyzed ones up soon with a small glare, trying to show them that I wasn't kidding around. I wasn't as nice as I seemed to be.
After a couple of days Batman appeared to me. River was at school so I had made a trip to the store for more food and such. As I got in my car to go home, I turned and noticed freaking Batman sitting there. He looking so big and buff sitting in my small car, I nearly laughed. But there was no laughter as my secret identity (yes, villains value and cherish them too) was now not a secret. But there was no point covering my face now.
I looked at him, not saying anything. I didn't start controlling him right away because he had something I wanted.
"Batman," I greeted.
"Puppeteer," he said.
I rolled my eyes at the way he said it; pretending to not have any emotions. He was probably stressed out about the majority of the league being under my hand.
"It's y/n," I said, slightly sighing. "Do you have the item?"
He lifted his hand, and revealed the flash drive that could change River's and I's life.
I reached for it, but he pulled away.
"Take me to the other leaguers first, then we'll talk."
I hesitated. This was risky business. He most likely had something up his sleeve. I'm probably going to be thrown in prison for life. But my daughter is worth it.
I started the car and awkwardly drove to my house/cave hideout. It was so quiet and tense in the car. No one spoke, and the only thing that broke the silence was the mellow sound of the radio in the background.
I pulled into the garage, and got out of the car. I grabbed my groceries and walked inside my house. Batman followed, taking quiet steps. I heaved the bags onto the counter, then worried for a moment that if I didn't put the food away it would rot. Shaking my head, I walked into my room. Batman followed, looking at all my knickknacks and studying the house.
I walked to my bedside and pulled the string to my lamp. It turned on, and then I pressed my fingertips to the slightly warm bulb. A burning sensation followed, but I ignored it like I always do. When I turned around, Batman was already walking down the staircase that had appeared in the place of my bed. I followed.
We came to the bottom, and I could hear the sounds of the tv playing. There was a soft mumbling, like they were talking. Batman walked on, but I stopped. I turned my head, thinking something was off. But I ignored it and walked on.
There was a few gasps as Batman came in, and a small groan when I followed after. I smiled. They all studied my bare face, and I felt naked.
I like the super power, but this story doesn't exactly fit... I wish I could explain it better... (◞‸◟)
