Chapter Two: A New Friend

CHAPTER TWO:
A NEW FRIEND

I walked into my room and sighed in frustration. Of all the days of the week, Mrs. Miller had today to give us a project.

I tossed my bag on the bed and sat at my desk with my laptop, in search of the stupid project, which had a deadline of Friday. Just a week to finish a project.

I mean seriously Mrs. Miller?

After an hour of googling all the given questions, I got tired and went to take a nice long and hot shower.

I shampooed my hair with my favorite strawberry scented shampoo and washed it carefully. After the shower I walked back into my room and picked a black tank top and a black ripped skinny jeans and my leather jacket. Don't blame me, I love black.

I wore my converse and grabbed my guitar and car keys. Yes, I play the guitar, but its just a hobby, if you put it like that.

“Mom, Dad, Mark, I'm going to the park!” I shouted as I ran down the stairs.

“Okay, but be back by seven!” I heard Mark shout back and I rolled my eyes.

“Will do!” I shouted back and ran outside to the car.

I started the car and drove peacefully to the park with He Is We blasting through the speakers.

Finally, I reached my destination. The park. I got out of the car, grabbed my guitar, locked the car, and sped off to the place I always sit.

Once I reached the old tree next to the lake, I sat down on the bridge and started playing.

The wind howled in my ears as I smiled and sang my song. I never quite understood why I did this, but perhaps it gave me some kind of escape. An escape from reality was really just all I wanted.

A tear rolled down my eye as I finished the song. I don't know why, but always when I play my guitar, I always get into the song, especially when its my favourite.

“That was awesome!” I heard a girl squeal and I eyes turned wide.

I turned my head to her direction and saw a slender blonde girl with blue eyes leaning against the tree. I could sense she was a wolf too, but I never saw her before. Is she from the pack?

“Thank you,” I smiled at her compliment.

“Where did you learn to play that good? And your voice is really amazing!” she walked over to me and sat down next to me.

“Thanks, I learned playing the guitar on my own actually, but my brother helped me a bit,” I smiled.

“Wow, that's cool. So, are you from this pack?” she asked and I nodded.

“Are you? I haven't really seen you around,” I frowned.

She giggled, “Yes, I am, but I haven't been here for a while I've been staying with my mate. He isn't from this pack,”

I shot her a teasing smirk, “Mate, huh?” I grinned as she blushed.

“Have you found your mate yet?” she asked, trying to turn this to me.

“No, but my wolf and I are sure we'll find him soon,” I smiled.

“I'm sure you'll find him soon too,” she looked at the water.

I smiled at her, “What pack is your mate from?”

“Derek? He's from the Blue Moon Pack. In fact, he's Alpha of The Blue Moon Pack,”

My eyes grew wide and I pouted, impressed, “Not bad. Someone's becoming Luna,” I teased and she playfully glared at me.

“By the way, I'm Sophia,” she changed the subject.

“Faith.” I smirked and turned my head at the beautiful, setting sun.

“You know,” Sophia starter speaking, “When I was little, my Dad always brought me here, to see the setting sun. I remember always looking at it and thinking —wondering how something could look so amazing,”

I looked at her, “He must be an amazing father,”

“He used to be,” she sighed, “But he left and my mother died due to the grief.”

My eyes grew wide, “I'm so sorry!” I apologized and she nodded with a grin, saying it's fine. “I know I shouldn't ask, but, where did he go?” I asked nervously, biting my lip.

I don't know how it exactly feels, but I sure as hell knew for sure that it must have hurt a lot. I couldn't imagine my life without my parents and she had to live without hers.

She was quiet for a moment, before continuing, “I don't know... One day he just left after an argument with Mom, and he never came back after that. I'm now staying at a aunt's house, but she barely has time for me. I have a cousin, he loves me more than a brother would have.”

“Having a brother is great, isn't it. I have one too. Can I ask something personal?” I asked.

“Yeah, sure,” she looked up at me.

“How come you're not living with your mate?” I asked.

“He has some rogue problems to handle, and he doesn't want me to go on his territory until the rogue problems get solved. He doesn't want me to get hurt,” I nodded in understanding.

“My brother said that they spotted some rogues on our territory too. They almost caught one, but he got lucky and he escaped,” I rolled my eyes.

“Oh my,” she gasped.

“I know right.” I pursed my lips.

We were in a comfortable silence for a while, until Sophia broke the silence, “How about a pizza?”

“Well, what are we waiting for? Run girl, run!” we laughed.

We got up and ran to the food court on the other side of the road. We burst through the doors, of course no literally, and people gave us weird looks, probably wondering if we just escaped from a mental hospital.

Sophia ran off to the counter to get our pizza while I searched for the perfect spot for us to sit. When I finally found one, I sat down and waited for the precious pizza to arrive.

After a few minutes, Sophia came back with a box of pizza and two cokes. Well, life couldn't get any better.

Sophia put the box in the middle of the table, sat down, and looked amused at me while I was struggling to open the box. The box is like a stupid wall between me and my oh, so delicious pizza.

When I finally managed to open the box, Sophia and I literally jumped on the pizza. Okay, maybe not literally.

“God, this is so good!” I moaned.

“Girl, tell me about it,” Sophia said as she took a bite.

“Well, I think I should get home now, my brother and parents are going to get worried. And we wouldn't want an angry brother now, would we?” I joked and she nodded.

“On that point my friend, I totally agree,” she pointed at me. After a quick goodbye to Sophia, I ran to my car and drove home.

I put my guitar carefully under my bed and ran to the kitchen, “I'm home!” I yelled.

“Well, at least you're home before seven,” Mark shrugged. I scoffed at him and sat on my chair at the dining table.

I took a apple from the middle of the table and took a bite.

'Wouldn't it be great if we go take a run? Its been ages already!' Alexandrite whined.

'Oh my god! I'm so sorry sweetheart. I promise we'll go tomorrow, because I don't think Mark will send us now.' I sighed.

'Okay, promise?'

'I promise.'

I smiled and walked back to my room. I took a long hot shower before drying myself and jumping bed. I pulled the covers over myself and grinned.

I have a feeling that I'm going have a good night sleep today...
