Chapter 3

"Now do you guys know how to share?" Asks Mr Hotelier. Mason and I both nod, and Mr Hotelier seemed happy about our answers. Gesturing towards the door, Mr Hotelier smiles.
"Melanie, can I talk to you?" He asks, making me nod to the principal.
"Of course," I say, sitting back down. Mason leaves, making me feel relieved. Finally he's gone.

"Your grades," he says, hesitating in the slightest way. "Are slipping, Melanie. So... In order to keep them up, I have decided you need a student to tutor you."
I cross my fingers under the chair, already knowing who it will be. I always have bad luck with that sort of stuff.
"Mason has politely volunteered to help with your grades.  In fact, you're starting today." He says, making the smile I had on my face, melt away.
"Please, can I have someone else? Sure, I'll catch up with homework. But please not with Mason?" I ask, looking at Mr Hotelier, and putting on a goody two shoes act.
"I'm sorry, Melanie, but he is the person who is tutoring you."

****
I couldn't believe it. Seriously? Why Mason? Of all people it had to be him?   Of all-
"Are you ready?" Asks Mason, putting a hand on the small of my back.  In flinch in reply of his touch.
"Ready as I'll ever be." I mutter under my breathe. He hears me, and raises his eyebrow.
"Am I that horrible to hang out with, Melanie." He asks, making me shake my head. Why did I shake my head? I hated him, didn't I?
"Good. Now let's go." He says, heading towards the school library.

It took ages to understand the concept of what he was teaching me. But eventually, he managed to find a way to explain it, without getting me lost.
"Mason?" Asks a tall blond girl, eyeing me all the way.
"Evie." He  says in recognition. I roll my eyes, and look back down at my maths.
"We have to do that thing remember?" She asks, lightly hitting him on the back. Mason looks at me, almost trying to get a hint of approval.
"Don't look at me!" I say, a little to loud. People look at us, and probably start to think both of us mental.
Collecting all my books together, I get up.
"I think we've done enough work. I'm going home." Getting up, and smiling at Evie.
"Bye." I say, already heading out of the library door.

MASON POV:

"I was finally getting somewhere with her!" I yell, clearly annoyed.
"Right now, we have bigger fish to fry." Says Evie. Her face clouds over with a worried expression.  And as soon as that happens I know it has something to do with Melanie.

"What's happened?" I ask, collecting my books all together.
"It's Justin. He's back." The word Justin makes my heart speed up. My brother. He was back.
"How do you know this?" I ask, rushing out of the library with Evie.
"He- Sort of... Met up with me. And he said that he will make himself clear soon." She says, as a scream comes from the direction Evie went down.
