Chapter 14: And to all a goodnight pt.2
As the ringing continues to pierce the air, Blake shifts Gambol to sword mode, swiftly spins around, and jams it into the gut of a White Fang standing behind her. Instead of letting out a gaps or a pained scream, the stabbed faunus lets out a guttural snarl before trying to reach for the neck of the Huntress-in-training, all while blood pours from his wound. Moving quick, she swings her weapon's cleaver-like sheave and embeds it into his head. The force not only splits his skull open, but snaps his mask in half as well.
Once the WF goon goes limp from the killing blow, Blake simply kicks him away as she snaps her head around for her next victim. All the while, the rest of the faunus in the building are partaking in a mosh pit of disemboweling.
One chubby faunus civilian manages to tackle another to the ground. Before the other could retaliate, the fat one raises his fists and simply beats the skinny one's head in. One punch becomes two, then three, then eight, on and on until his fists become bloodied and his adversary's head becomes a red bowl of blood and brains. Before he could bring down another fist, a White Fang woman suddenly charges him with a dagger, knocking him over in the process. After stabbing him in the neck, she rips it out and repeatedly jabs it into his chest. His shirt, and the floor beneath him, are soon coated in blood.
The members that are equipped with firearms simply gun down anyone they see without hesitation, even their fellow White Fangs. Taking aim, one of them riddles a WF that was charging at her, dropping him like a bloodied sack of bricks. Before she can aim her rifle down a large group tearing themselves apart, a bo staff is smashed into her skull. This blow not only snaps her head sideways with a horrid crack, it also sends her hurtling to the blood soaked floor from the force. Dead on arrival.
Sun Wukong, after bashing her skull in, quickly twirls his weapon around to smack another faunus in the face. Due to their lack of skill with an aura, the blow easily shatters their skull, practically dropping them instantly. The monkey faunus quickly shifts his staff into duel gun-chucks, easily dodging a heavy swing from a random WF as he uses his inhuman agility to jump in the air and knee his opponent in the face. With another suffering from traumatic head injuries, Sun begins charging at more of his kind, swinging his weapons around to either leave dents in people's skulls or simply shoot them.
A White Fang plummets from the catwalk after being tossed off by his comrade, landing head first on the edge of the stadium and bouncing off onto the floor, leaving a splatter of blood behind. Roman simply looks on in disgust and horror as he witnesses the slaughter before him. A minute ago, he had the audience eating out of the palm of his hand like a petting zoo, now everyone is killing each other for no apparent reason.
Safe to say, he's suffering some form of mental whiplash.
As he spots one faunus manage to rip another's head off, grabbing it by the hair and using it as a mace while blood continues to splatter, Roman suddenly hears the revving of a chainsaw. Snapping his head to his left, he spots the lieutenant from before wielding said chainsaw, using it to slowly slice a member of his own kind in half. Blood and viscera spraying everywhere like a hellish water sprinkler, coating his very stature in a thick layer of crimson red.
As both halves of the dead faunus falls to the floor in a bloody heap, the lieutenant just looks at his handy work as he paces back and forth. Letting out deep manic breaths, he suddenly starts hitting the side of his head with his palm. Specifically his ear... Immediately, this little display comes to an end as he soon spots Roman looking at him. Without hesitation, he jumps onto the stadium and quickly charges the frightened ginger with his chainsaw raised for a killing blow.
As Roman almost trips himself quickly backing up, Neo rushes from behind him and slams the butt of her umbrella into the lieutenant's stomach. The surprising power from such a little frame sends the giant faunus flying back, hurtling him backwards into a crate with enough force to leave a dent. He topples ass first onto the ground as his chainsaw clatters next to him. Surprisingly, this does not kill him, as he tries to get himself back on his feet. This proves fruitless as he soon loses conscience and plops back down.
Roman: Yep, we're leaving!
Roman grabs Neo's hand and leads her behind the Atlesian Paladin and quickly ducks through a back door, leading them to freedom from this house of nightmares. All the while screams and gunshots slowly fade behind them.
Meanwhile, you're still looking on from the skylight, a wide toothy smile on your face showing genuine joy at what you're seeing. Two WF ripping a third in half by the waste, one civilian using a head as a mace, a blond guy beating people to death with gun-chucks, a black haired ninja decapitating three people in one swing, and ones on the catwalks still shooting at whoever is moving. All while blood and gore is being splattered everywhere, painting the once dull gray room into a vibrant red. All while your sound file continues to blare out.
Safe to say, this experiment was a huge success.
As the body count of the one's still standing trickles down to less than twenty, you shift your gaze over to the mech. A few stray bullets hitting its chassis simply bounce off as it stands there, practically begging for a big strong pilot to get all up in its guts and ride it off into the sunrise. And you're more than happy to oblige.
Tucking away your justified stiffy, you grab a hold of the edge of the skylight, dangling over the violent scene below. Swinging yourself back and forth, you fling yourself onto a nearby rafter as you try not to fall. Quickly gaining your balance, you scuttle and jump across rafter after rafter until you make it over the mech. Doing some parkour shit, you jump onto a catwalk, then effortlessly jump on top of your newly claimed Paladin. Avoiding a few more stray bullets, you remember how the cockpit hatch opens and easily crawl inside, appreciating the leather seating as you get comfortable.
Remembering what you read in the manual, you begin to startup the mech, until you start to hear some faint beeping. Recognizing that sound, you quickly pull out your scroll and see a flashing red light in the center. Cursing in panic, you sit there in disbelief as your device simply runs out of battery and dies.
(Y/n): Damn it! I knew I forgot something!
You just store your scroll away as you continue the startup, all while the ringing sound soon cuts off from the speakers.
Meanwhile, Blake shoots out a White Fang's knees, causing him to topple over with a pained yell. Moving in quick, she swings her sword down and stabs it into the nip of his neck. As she lays the killing blow, the ringing she's been hearing for the past few minutes finally stops. As her head finally clears up, she looks down to the faunus in shock and confusion, her sword still firmly embedded in his neck. He looks up to her, mouth open letting out a silent scream, as he shakily reaches up and grabs her arm, still holding Gambol Shroud.
In horrid disbelief, she lets go of her sword and stumbles backwards, causing the one she killed to simply fall forward, dead as his blood pools around him with the rest. Not watching her step, Blake trips on a limb and falls over, landing on a bloody corpse. She immediately scuttles off it as the look of terror on her face grows more and more profound. All around her, she sees dozens of bodies of fellow faunus strewned about. Beaten, shot, stabbed, sliced, and torn apart bodies cover half of the concrete floor. The other half being blood.
Not everyone is dead, however. Across the catwalks are a few White Fang members, looking down at the bodies in horror. Among said bodies stand barely half a dozen survivors, looking around themselves as they sport the same looks of disbelief in what they've done. Amongst them stands Sun, white shirt and gun-chucks now covered in blood as he breathes heavily. Whether from fatigue or having a mental breakdown is anyone's guess.
Speaking of a mental breakdown, Blake looks at her blood soaked hands, a million thoughts rushing through her feline brain as her breathing slowly goes from calm rhythms to the beginning of hyperventilation. This panic attack becomes all the more guaranteed as she soon hears the pained cries and wails for help from those that are still alive, but horribly injured. The screams for help soon become white noise to her. Along with the sound of an engine coming to life. As well as the metallic stomps. Even Sun's screaming--
Sun: BLAKE!
The monkey boy suddenly tackles her out of the way as a large metallic foot comes crashing down where she once sat. Finally snapping out of her stupor, Blake looks back and sees the Atlesian Paladin walking across the bodies of fallen faunus. Each step launching a fountain of blood like a stomped in puddle as the mech makes its way to a wall, swatting aside a WF that didn't move fast enough. As it nears a wall, ready to smash it down, a burst of bullets suddenly hit it from the side.
On one of the catwalks, a White Fang opens fire on the Paladin, letting out a roar of anger as he believes the pilot is the instigator. This causes the mech to stop in its tracks, bottom half of its legs coated in blood from stomping around on the corpses, as it simply takes the rounds. It takes a second for the faunus to empty his entire magazine as it glares at the mech, breathing heavily from all sorts of emotions flowing through him.
As the remaining faunus look at the Paladin in shock, Sun simply reaches over to Blake and grabs her shoulder.
Sun: We need to leave.
The Paladin suddenly spins around by the hip, arm extended out, while aiming a mounted gun. A bolt of energy launches from the barrel and hits the White Fang member dead in the chest. Everything within a few feet immediately explodes as concrete, metal, and blood go scattering through the air. In short, all that remains of the brave moronic faunus is a hole in the wall and some splattered blood here and there. That's where the screaming starts up again as the survivors start to make a run for their lives.
As the giant robot proceeds to gun down everyone in sight, dashing upon and stomping in anyone close to it in a bloody mess, Sun quickly lifts Blake to her feet and pulls her towards the entrance they came from.
Sun: We need to go, NOW!
As the two students make a mad dash for the exit, the mech unleashes a volley of rockets from its back, hitting the walls and ceiling to cause the most amount of damage tothe structure. As debris begin falling all around the Paladin, several cameras on it suddenly snap towards the fleeing pair.
The two burst from the metal door, almost breaking it off its hinges, and rush from the crumbling warehouse as fast as they are physically capable of. Not long after, the Paladin simply smashes through the wall close by, causing the building to finally collapse, and chases after the two. With their immense agility, Blake and Sun manage to jump onto a car and leap their way onto the roof of a nearby building. As they parkour their asses off, a giant murderbot right behind them, the two of them head to the highways as Blake pulls out her scroll.
[Location: Junior's Club]
After failing to acquire the plans and whereabouts of Roman Torchwick from the supposedly well informed bar owner, a blonde girl and a blue haired boy exit the building. The two of them known as Yang Xiao Long and Neptune Vasilias. Somewhat annoyed that they barely got much of what they were looking for, the hot-headed girl's annoyance grows even more as she sees the vehicle they arrived on.
A depressing looking scooter she rented to replace the bike that was stolen by he-who-shall-not-be-named. Deciding not to have violent thoughts tonight, she simply hops on it with Neptune in tow. As Yang places her helmet on, her scroll suddenly buzzes with activity. She grabs it and answers the call. What comes through is Blake's voice, almost labored like she's running for her life.
Blake: Everyone! If you can hear me, we need back--
Sun: HEEEELP! They got a robot, and it's big. REALLY BIG! That Torchwick guy is in it! But not like, it didn't eat him. He's, like, controlling it or something!
Yang: Where are you guys?
Just then, as if comedically timed, Blake and Sun suddenly appear across the street and quickly disappear with a Paladin right behind them.
Sun: HURRYYYYY!!!
The two teens on the scooter just stare in disbelief in momentary silence.
Neptune:.... I think that was them.
Yang: Yeah, I got it!
Pocketing her scroll, Yang starts up her scooter, relieved it didn't stall on the spot, and quickly spun it around, almost flinging Neptune off as he holds on tight. As they book it down the street to catch up, the blonde headed driver makes a sharp turn, resulting in one of the side mirrors to snap off.
[Location: Vale highways]
Today has not been a good day for Johnny the gas station employee. After one of the other employees suddenly called in sick at the last minute, he has to do a double shift in one day to cover for said employee. Frankly, he believes the lazy bastard just wanted to go get high at a party. Now stuck with someone else's night shift, he is driving his way to the gas station while sulking behind the steering wheel of his car. He knows full well what kind of weirdos lurk around gas stations late at night, so this will not be a fun experience what so ever.
As he cruises along the highway with other fellow night drivers, Johnny wonders if he can somehow improve the toilet situation by dropping a firecracker in the bowl. That way the boss will be forced to replace it--
*THWACK*
Suddenly, a black haired girl jumps on the hood of his car from out of nowhere, scaring the living crap out of Johnny. Just as soon as she arrived, the girl then jumps from his car and onto another up ahead. A blond boy following close behind. As the gas station employee is about to verbally abuse them from inside his car, a large mech charges from behind and basically swats his car aside with ease. The force of the hit sends him flipping across the highway, car getting smashed across the pavement until crashing against a blue forcefield at the edge of the road.
As the totalled car finally comes to rest, Johnny's head wobbles side to side as he slowly loses conscience. Finally clocking out, his head simply falls forward and hits his bent steering wheel with a thud. The moment his head makes contact, the airbag immediately goes off in his already scarred face.
Back to more important things, Blake and Sun jump from car to moving car across the road as the Paladin continues to chase after them. All while bashing, pushing, or just crushing any vehicle in its way to murder them. Meanwhile, through impressive feats of speed, Yang and Neptune somehow manage to catch up with the mech on the scooter. All while shitty scooter sounds emanate from the shitty vehicle.
Yang: We gotta slow it down!
Neptune: Got it!
From his back, Neptune pulls out an advanced looking rifle and prepares to take aim. Before he does so, the mech begins bashing into more vehicles, causing them to start flying back at the two right behind it. Yang manages to evade the incoming automobiles. There appears to be a surprising amount of people driving on this highway, huh?
Finding a steady opening, Neptune finally takes aim and begins firing blue electric bolts at the running mech. After hitting and missing a few shots, he soon shifts his rifle into a guandao. A grayish pole with a blade at the end that glows blue with electricity. As Yang drives closer, he stands on the back of the scooter and leaps right at the Paladin, embedding his weapon at the top of his metallic opponent.
Up ahead, Blake and Sun finally cease their version of extreme frogger. The former standing on top of a van, while the latter stands upon a semi truck. Both look back at their friend riding rodeo on the robot.
Sun: Neptune, hang on!
Back to the Paladin, it starts spinning and swerving side to side to shake off Neptune. All while the blue haired boy holds on for dear life. Sun, focusing on his semblance, slams his hands together. This results in two gold translucent copies of himself to appear right next to him. Without hesitation, the two copies quickly start hopping on top of cars and fling themselves at the Paladin. Each one exploding on it into gold mist as both cause it to lurch back. I guarantee that whoever is in the mech is getting pretty fucking pissed.
Brandishing his gun-chuck staff thing, Sun leaps from the truck and prepares to throw in a few licks himself. The mech, however, makes a sudden rotation fast enough to fling Neptune off its back. Resulting in him flying right at his faunus friend with a meaty thud and knocks both of them off the bridge.... I'm sure they'll be fine.
Back to Blake, she simply glares at the oncoming mech, preparing to have a solo fight with who she believes to be Roman Torchwick. When a voice soon calls out from her scroll.
Weiss: Blake, I'm in possession!
From on top of another highway up ahead, the white haired heiress quickly leaps from there and lands effortlessly onto the one everyone else is on, cars whizzing past her as she pulls out her dust infused rapier. Right in front of her, the Paladin seems to pick up speed as it spots Weiss. Possibly to smear her across the pavement.
Just as it's about to reach her, Weiss embeds her thin sword into the road. Suddenly, an explosion of ice immediately coats the ground around her. Moving too fast, the mech simply slips on the ice and starts comically tumbling across the highway until it hits one of the blue forcefields. Its mass effortlessly punches through it as it soon plummets off and down the ground below. With cat like movements, it manages to land feet first.
Right in front of a little girl brandishing a not-so-little scythe.
As Ruby glares at the Paladin, ready for a smackdown, the rest of team RWBY fall from out of nowhere and superhero land next to her with their own weapons at the ready. The Paladin just starts stomping towards them in a menacing stride.
Ruby: Freezer Burn!
With those words, Blake and Ruby quickly jump away while Yang simply jumps upward. All while Weiss stabs her sword into the ground, causing more ice to form. The blonde member of the team comes plummeting towards the ice with an armed winded back for a punch. She bashes her gauntlet into the the frozen ground with a blast of fire, resulting in a plume of thick fog to surround the Paladin.
Trapped in an impenetrable cloud, red lasers become visible on cameras from the mech as they start scanning for targets, all while it slowly walks forward with cannons at the ready. Every so often, faint blurs quickly dash in the fog, resulting in the pilot to just start firing at anything that moves. Snapping to the side, the mech blasts at a black and yellow blur. However this results in a red one to fly out and slash its center mass.
As Ruby jumps off from her foe, she cocks her sniper scythe as she glares at the mech.
Ruby: Checkmate!
With another phrase, Blake and Weiss charge forward and start comboing the feet of the Paladin. The white color scheme manages to stab at one of the cameras and uses one of her glyphs to hop back to safety. Moving fast, she places another glyph right under her companion as a metallic foot is raised to crush the faunus.
Only somewhat livid, the pilot activates the rear mounted rockets and launches them at the two. But of course, they dodge them without effort. Aiming fast, the two arm cannons begin blasting at them as they flip in the air. One manages to hit Weiss, sending her fly back further. Her aura managing to take the blow as she plummets to the ground. Before she hits the dirt, she launches a strange gold beam right at where Blake is standing.
Strange gears of a clock appear at Blake's feet, resulting in her being covered in a bright aura. As more rockets fly at her, she starts swinging her blades with incredible speed, each slash launching a purple beam of energy. These beams manage to destroy every rocket that was meant to kill her as they detonate in a spectacular circle of explosions.
Now, if any of them were paying close enough attention, they could almost hear a muffled "Oh what the fuck ever!"
Ruby: Ladybug!
Another battle call, another flurry of hits on the Paladin. Only this time, the final hit was strong enough to chop off the left arm. Sending it crashing across the floor as an angry muffled scream echoes inside. From behind, Yang jumps on its back and starts pounding away. Each hit unleashing an explosion as her shotgauntlets blasts into the chassis. With epic speed, the mech launches backwards and smashes right through a highway support beam. Smashing the blonde girl through it first.
Not stopping, the mech crashes into another beam, causing Yang to lose her grip and fall off. Moving fast, the Paladin spins around and sucker punches her through the concrete pillar. Debris falls around as she skids across the floor.
Blake: YANG!
From close by, Blake looks on with worry for her teammate. Meanwhile Ruby stares on, almost with a small grin on her lips.
Ruby: Don't worry. With each hit she grows stronger, and she uses that energy to fight back!
The Paladin somewhat turns towards Ruby, almost as if the pilot overheard that statement, before turning back towards the not-dead Yang rising to her feet.
Ruby: That's what makes her special.
Not believing this, the pilot throws another punch at the blonde girl. Only for her to stop the hit, causing chunks of the ground around her to fly back all epic like. Looking up, what were once lilac eyes are now glowing red as her semblance is active. Winding a fist back, she launches a devastating punch and effortlessly shatters the Paladin's remaining arm to pieces. This sends it stumbling back from the force before quickly moving forward and kicks Yang, sending her flying far and right past her teammates.
Ruby: Bumblebee!
Blake transforms her sword into a gun and tosses it at Yang, a length of black ribbon attached to it as she holds on to the other end. Through anime bullshit, the fiery blonde is swung back around and towards their opponent. Going for a punch, she misses as it leaps back to mild safety. Seeing this, Ruby tries to think of a plan as Weiss arrives next to her.
Ruby: We have to slow it down!
Weiss: And how do you propose we do that?
Ruby:... Ice Flower!
Without question, Weiss summons several white glyphs in front of her leader as Ruby takes aim. Wasting no time, she fires a shot through the glyphs, turning a normal high caliber bullet into a high caliber ice bullet. It hits the Paladin in the chest, resulting in large ice spikes to form. Not letting up, the girl in red fires several more shots, encasing half of the mech in more ice, preventing it from moving an inch.
Coming back round on Blake's ribbon, Yang's hair suddenly catches fire as she prepares a devastating blow on their unmoving adversary. Smashing an explosive punch right into the cockpit hatch, leaving a nasty dent in the metal, the Paladin is violently launched back and simply disintegrates into scrap as its occupant is sent rolling across the ground. Cursing all the way until he manages to finally come to a stop.
Yang cocks her gauntlet back to launch another blast, but suddenly stops. Laying amongst scrapped metal is not the white coated ginger Roman she was expecting, but someone in an all black suit. As the rest of her team rushes to her side, they too are confused as to who they see.
Weiss: Wait, that's not Torchwick. Who is that?
As the stranger slowly gets up to a knee, his back to team RWBY, he looks around himself to see the broken remains of his Paladin.
???: Fucking DAMMIT!
With an angry huff, he reaches for a black hat close by and stands to his full height. To Yang and Ruby, they soon recognize the get-up as a Xiong uniform, meaning he's one of Junior's goons. Blondie is certainly going to have a word with the bar owner after all this.
Turning around, the person the team was fighting all along reveals themselves to not only be a gang goon, but someone they actually know. With gasps and looks of shock and confusion, the four are soon stared down by their missing fellow student. (Y/n) Goodwitch.
Staring at each girl with absolute malice, you slowly put your hat back on as you let out a sigh.
(Y/n): Alright.... Let's try that again.
As you activate your semblance, Ruby takes a step forward with a worried expression. All while Blake suddenly sports a terrified look as she soon has a realization.
Ruby: (y/nnnnnrrr.......!
