The One
I never,
In a million years,
Thought I'd be the one,
Reaching for the sun
Trying to grab an abundance of stars,
Would ever reach you,
The one star in the constellation that shined brighter than the rest,
The one
That when I would look up at night,
Would dance for me,
Twinkling rampant,
Maybe that was my cue
To reach out to you at that moment,
But I stared,
Laid back on my porch,
I gazed
Thinking of ways to grab you,
Hold you ever so gently in my hand,
My star,
Then it happened,
Without thought,
My hand extended beyond heaven,
To hold you,
As I felt your warmth
Your shine,
Like a million u.v lights,
I was awe struck,
For I had you
I guess patience was my virtue,
Because night after night of watching,
I learned how to cherish,
My star once in hand.
