My Thought

Dear Diary. Wait. Eh. My name is Jen Laurens. Seventh grader at Liberty Middle and High. My friends are Marquess Gilberta du Motier de Lafayette, and Hera Cleeves Mulligan. I'm thirteen, and.....a closeted gay. My parents are okay with it, but...For some reason, I'm scared to come out to them. And oh right, then there was this hot chick at school. Alexis. God. Even saying the name made my heart skip a beat. Anyways, I feel like this is the most revealing journal entry I've written yet! ~Jen Laurens
"Jenny! Come downstairs. We'll be going to Hamilton soon." My mother said. I nodded, but there was no one to nod too. Still nodded. Walked downstairs. My mom handed me my freshly cleaned revolutionary uniform. I zipped upstairs changed and then came downstairs.
"You look wonderful, darling. Let me drop you of with Lafayette and Hera." My mother said. My dad grumbled. "Dear, please don't. You know how much this means to Jenny."
"Thank you mum. Let's go!" I said. My mother nodded and she dropped me off at Hera's house. We danced to Hamilton to prepare for the play. Hera stitched little pins for us, showing what each character that we were. I pinned my little John Laurens pin on the side of my jacket. Then we drove off to the theater with Hera's parents. When we got there, we saw Alexis and Ariana? They didn't have anyone with them. Alexis noticed us and shouted at me. Hera looked at her mom.
"Oh, mama, there's Alexis and her friend. They don't have an adult with them...lets bring them into our group." Hera said. Hera's mother nodded and we walked over to Alexis. My face was red. Alexis looked cute in her Alexander Hamilton revolutionary outfit. Ariana was resplendent in hers as well. We walked into the theater, and about halfway through Alexander Hamilton, Alexis freezed up. She looked like she was having a freaking seizure. Then she came back to reality. Ariana was checking her. I focused on the play. Alexis looked okay by the start of Aaron Burr,Sir. I had a weird feeling as John Laurens entered the stage. Then, the rest of the the song was blocked out by a....film memory?
"Hello, John." Alexander Hamilton said. Jeez. And why was he calling me John? I'm Jen! My mouth opened and I said something like I was just repeating lines, no room for changing.
"Hey Alexander! How're you today?" I said. Alexander smiled. Then he looked at...Burr, who was right next to him. Dang, I'd looked Burr up, and he'd looked like a really young but balding guy. This was different. Burr looked me strangely.
"Laurens. It's insane that we got invited to the winter ball. You see the Schuyler sisters over there? You see any of them that look nice?" Burr said. Alexander smiled.
"They all look absolutely beautiful, Burr." Alexander said. Then he winked at me. I felt a bit jealous.
"Alex, you aren't completely...homosexual?" I said. Alex coughed then nodded, while Burr walked around the ballroom. I looked at Alex.
"Well, I suppose since this is a ball, we'll....try to ahm...fraternize with the lady folk." I said. Alex nodded, and then bounced off, he started dancing with one of the Schuylers. Angelica? I looked at another of them. She was...Peggy? I think I've heard of her. Might as well talk to her to avoid looking weird. Or I could hang out by the drinks...Or by Laf and Herc. Wait, where were they? I nervously sidled up to a pole and watched Burr and Alex mess around with all of the girls at this parties.
"Hey. You're...Laurens?" A young girl said. I realized it was Peggy. She looked bored.
"I'm kinda bored. None of the guys are talking to me, and Angie is taking up all the spotlight." Peggy said. I looked at her.
"Ehm, yeah, I'm Laurens. What's it to you?" I said. Peggy smiled.
"I told daddy that I could talk to someone. Yay. I'll go tell Lizzie." Peggy said. She flounced off to Elizabeth Schuyler. I looked around for Alex. No sign. And then, a flash of reality hit me. I was in my seat, I was Jen Laurens. I was watching Hamilton. I was listening to My Shot now....the actors danced around to the upbeat peppy tune of it. The rest of the night was uneventful, until I woke up at 5:30 am. I was Aware of something. Where did Alexis live? Ah yeah...we dropped her off around Nevis Street. I climbed out my bedroom window, in my pajamas and then well, I biked over to her house. I climbed up and looked through Alexis' window. Confirming that was her house, I went back to my house, but accidentally tripped, to which Alexis opened her window. She asked if anyone was out there. I silently tiptoed back to my bike and rode off after Alexis closed her window. I put chocolate in a ice cube mold and then froze it. At about 8:30 am, I rode back over, chocolate in a small bag. I knocked on the door. Alexis Answered it.
"Hello, Who are yo— J-Jen?" Alexis said. She had Hamilton Pajamas. I smiled. Handed her the chocolate. Alexis took it.
"Well, if you weren't...are you...huh.." Alexis said. Then she started. "Where are my manners, I can't leave you on the threshold. Come on in." She said. I stepped in, and then sat on the couch. Alexis rushed upstairs and came down wearing a green tee and jeans.
"I'm sorry! Anyways, why did you give me this, and why are you here?" Alexis said. I shivered.
"Well, Alexis...I'm gay....and I love you. And I...I can't lose you like John Laurens lost Alexander." I said. Alexis nodded.
"Ah...well. This is sudden...I want to say that...I need time. Okay? In the meantime, what are you doing today? We could...hang out, I suppose." Alexis said. I didn't think someone like Alexis would have free time.
"Well, I only have to take care of Lil' Shelby. And then babysit Peter. But I have a considerable chunk of free time." I said. Alexis smiled.
"Cool, I guess I'll get the Hamilton disk." She said. She ran upstairs. Then I sighed. I pulled out my phone. 9:10. I had until 2pm. I looked around the house. It was fairly nice. Alexis came downstairs. Then I raised an eyebrow at what she brought along with the disk. A bunch of paper, and pencils.
"Well, I suppose there could be other things we do besides dancing and listening to Hamilton, so drawing or writing I figured were good things." Alexis said. Then she looked at me for a few minutes. "I have to say...I mean...I like you too. I kinda...had a vision of Alexander Hamilton's....past last night. You were in both of them. Well, John Laurens was in them. And I think he and you may be connected. " Alexis admitted. I looked at her.
"Ha, I had a vision of John Laurens' past. And Alexander Hamilton was in it. It was the winter's ball..." I said. Alexis nodded. Then she looked at me directly."
"I suppose that you'd be a pretty cute girlfriend, but it'd have to be secret. My caretaker is a bit...homophobic..." Alex said. She kissed me. Oh my turtles!
"Alexis! What?" I said. Then she withdrew. "I...want to spend more time with you now, Alexis. Would you like to come with me and babysit Peter?" I said. Alexis pondered then nodded. We spent the rest of the time together playing around with paper and Hamilton songs. Then when 2pm came along, me and Alexis went over to Peter, Angelo, and Elijah's house.
