The Cat's Out of the Bag

"Amit, I can't comprehend it. You tried to kill your own daughter?" Swara said, her voice quivering with shock and disbelief.

"This is beyond shameful, Amit," Laksh added, shaking his head in disgust. "How could you stoop so low?"

Amit, now visibly trembling under the weight of the accusations, glanced around at the faces filled with piercing gazes and contempt. His eyes finally met Sanskar's intense, unyielding stare. "I swear, I didn't kill my daughter," he stuttered desperately. "She saw me murder Sia, and I had no choice but to silence her. I made sure the wound wasn't fatal. I never intended to take her life."

Sanskar and Swara exchanged a significant look before bumping fists with a sense of accomplishment. "Your confession was critical," Swara said, her voice steady but filled with relief. "It provided the crucial piece we were missing, especially given the lack of evidence."

Amit shut his eyes in frustration, his shoulders slumping as he recognized that he had walked straight into Swara’s trap again.

“Escort them to the court,” Sanskar directed the guards, then turned on his heels and walked out, Swara’s hand clasped in his, with Laksh and Ragini trailing behind.

Amit and Adarsh were ushered into Alpha Sanskar's court, their hands shackled and mouths gagged, which drew gasps of astonishment and disbelief from the Crescent Moon pack. The air was thick with murmurs and curses directed at the two men, and Swara couldn’t help but feel a pang of sympathy for Sanskar, who was facing betrayal from his own family.

'He’s managed to move on from Adarsh’s betrayal; he’ll eventually find a way to forget Amit as well,' Swara mused, and she let out a deep sigh.

Sanskar stood on the platform, his hands firmly on his hips. "Your crimes have been laid bare with your confession. Do you have any final words to offer?" He inquired, his voice resonating with authority.

Amit's smirk was sly and defiant. "What exactly are you accusing me of, Alpha Sanskar? I don’t see any crimes here," he said, his voice dripping with insincere innocence, trying to regain control of the situation.

Sanskar shook his head in disappointment, but before he could respond, Swara stepped forward. "You're Adarsh and Kavita's accomplice, the so-called big boss. You confirmed this yourself when Adarsh referred to you as 'big boss' in the prison."

"So what? That doesn't prove anything against me," Amit retorted confidently.

“Oh, my bad,” Swara said, her tone sharp. “I misspoke when I called you an accomplice. You’re the true mastermind, the one pulling the strings behind Adarsh and Kavita.” She pulled out her phone and displayed a video she had secretly recorded in the hospital, showing Adarsh and Kavita admitting they were working for a powerful figure.

"You mean to say you’ve had this recording the whole time? You were aware of everything and kept it secret?" Adarsh roared in frustration, his eyes blazing as he stared at Swara.

"Yes, and I actually showed this to Sanskar a long time ago."

Swara's revelation hit Adarsh like a sledgehammer, and as he glanced at Sanskar’s stern expression, the confirmation of the truth was undeniable. "When did this happen?" he asked, his voice trembling with horror.

"On the day Amit took the lives of those two border patrol guards,"

"I didn’t kill anyone!" Amit shouted, his voice filled with indignation. But Swara raised her hand with a commanding gesture, effectively silencing him and halting his protests.

"I entrusted everything to Sanskar," she said. "I disclosed all the secrets I had about you and Kavita because Sanskar assured me he would place his trust in me, and he did so without question. Ever since, every step you’ve taken towards the effort to advance the fight against the vampires has been orchestrated by us." Swara glanced at Sanskar, and they shared a knowing smirk.

“And Amit...” Sanskar said, turning his attention to him. “Will you cease your lies? In addition to conspiring to murder your alpha and Luna, you’re also responsible for the deaths of two patrolling guards and Sia, and you even attacked your Gamma while posing as a vampire,” he elaborated.

“Alpha Sanskar, you’ve completely lost your grasp on reality. How could I possibly disguise myself as a vampire? You’re becoming increasingly obsessed with this witch, and it’s clouding your judgment,” Amit argued.

“Be careful with your words, Amit. I won’t stand for any insults directed at Swara,” Sanskar said, his anger evident as he clenched his fist. “The person you’re insulting with such disdain isn't just a witch; she’s a powerful hybrid with a range of magical powers, including the ability to see the future."

“Future vision? What does that even mean?” Someone in the crowd murmured.

“Luna has extraordinary powers?” another voice echoed.

“What exactly is the Alpha talking about?” A question came from the third voice.

A wave of astonishment swept through the room as pack members exchanged bewildered glances and murmured questions. The unexpected revelation left everyone scrambling to understand and confirm what they had just heard.

Sanskar shut his eyes tightly and rubbed his forehead, where the veins were prominently bulging. In his mounting frustration, he had unwittingly divulged Swara’s secret power to the entire room, and the gravity of his mistake was now evident in his weary expression.

Swara laid a supportive hand on Sanskar's shoulder. “Sanskar is right,” she said calmly. “I possess the ability to foresee impending threats around me. Amit, when I was alone in the cherry woods, I had a vision of your actions and realized that you planned to abduct me and sell me to the vampire king.” She stared directly into Amit’s eyes as she spoke.

Amit remained unfazed, but Adarsh’s face turned ashen with horror. "So, you knew that you and Sanskar were going to be attacked by Kavita and me after the battle?" Adarsh asked, his voice trembling.

"Swara anticipated that and gave me a heads-up," Sanskar responded. "She revealed to me that she has visions of the future."

'Sorry, Sanskar, I wasn't truthful about seeing this attack in future flashes," Swara thought with guilt. "The reality is, I endured this very attack in a previous life, died, and came back through heaven and hell. I knew no one would believe that. I had to lie.' She concealed her emotions behind a composed facade.

"Sanskar asked why I kept insisting we delay the battle with the vampires." Swara sensed everyone's eyes on her and began to explain.

"After thinking it over, I decided to tell him the truth about my future vision abilities and what I had seen. He believed me without hesitation and assured me that now, knowing our enemies' true intentions, we could not only avoid the attack but catch them in the act. I also saw that Amit planned to kidnap me, so I deliberately dropped my bracelet near his footprints," she detailed.

"Oh, spare me, this is all mumbo jumbo," Amit snapped with venom. "Luna Swara, why should I believe your so-called future visions? You claimed to see me kidnapping you, yet you still let me do it? You’re clearly just making up stories to settle a score for my objections during the talent runs. Don’t accuse me of things I haven’t done without concrete evidence," he countered, his tone smooth and insincere.

"So, you’re suggesting that Alpha Sanskar is dishonest?" Laksh advanced, his voice stern and challenging.

"How can you make such accusations against Alpha Sanskar?"

A wave of anger swept through the crowd, creating a chaotic uproar that visibly unsettled Amit. Sanskar raised his hand to restore order and address the increasingly agitated assembly.

"Calm down," Sanskar commanded his people before turning his gaze sharply to Amit. "Amit, if you want to challenge us, then so be it. Here’s the proof," he declared, presenting the moon amulet that Swara had discovered during her thorough search at the border. "This is the tangible evidence of your deceit."

At first, Sanskar had mistaken it for Laksh’s possession, but later Laksh clarified that the amulet actually belonged to Ragini, who had given it to Amit.

Amit was left stunned as Sanskar pressed on, "Do you recognize it now, Amit? Swara and Bose found your moon amulet near the southern border, where you killed the guards."

"If you require further evidence, I can bring in Bose, who witnessed everything alongside Swara," Sanskar added. "You also attacked your own daughter, Ragini, and before she lost consciousness, she told Swara that you were the assailant."

Sanskar then laid out all the evidence they had accumulated over the days, making it clear that Amit hadn't outplayed anyone; instead, he had been manipulated by Sanskar and Swara. The realization hit Amit like a blow, as he understood that the real game had been played by his adversaries.

"I can't fathom why you would do this to your own nephew, Dad, especially after you abandoned everything so long ago," Ragini said for the first time in a long while, her voice trembling with a mix of embarrassment and anger. Despite her embarrassment, her loyalty to her alpha fueled her outrage.

"Because he wanted to be alpha," Swara replied quickly, cutting off Amit before he could spin another lie. "He’s envious of the former alpha, Rajesh Maheshwari."

Sanskar's brow furrowed in confusion. "Envious of what?"

"Amit Maheshwari is actually the adopted child of your grandfather, while your father was his biological son," Swara clarified.
