Savage Rescue
"Sanskar, this is the information I obtained from a few elderly wizards who were acquainted with my mother," Swara explained, detailing the contents of the flash drive that Sanskar had stumbled upon the day following his birthday celebration.
"Hmm, this information appears to be quite credible," Sanskar remarked as he read through the contents of the flash drive on his laptop.
"Exactly. If we pursue this lead, we might be able to locate the lady wizard soon," Swara said, her excitement evident as she anticipated the promising outcome of her first task for Sanskar.
"Hmm, let's make our way to the Northern Woods. We'll leave tomorrow morning," Sanskar announced as he ejected the flash drive and slipped it into his pocket after shutting off his laptop.
"What? We're going together? Why?" Swara interjected hastily.
She sensed there was more to Sanskar's decision than met the eye. Going together would only serve to highlight their newfound connection, which she wasn't quite ready to confront.
Meanwhile, Sanskar harbored genuine concerns for Swara's safety. The Black Forest was notorious for its population of rogue wolves who took pleasure in inflicting pain and suffering on unsuspecting victims. He couldn't bear the thought of Swara facing such dangers alone.
"No, we're going together, and that's non-negotiable," he stated firmly.
Swara was poised to argue back when Sanskar's phone rang, and he raised his hand to silence her.
"What?"
"Is that so? Fine, I'll be there," Sanskar responded to the caller on the phone before disconnecting the call.
Sanskar grasped Swara's shoulder and sighed deeply before speaking in his most gentle tone, "Swara, I have some urgent matters to attend to in Mexico, so I must leave now, and as for..."
Swara preempted him, sensing his worry and urgency regarding the hunt for Janki. "Don't worry, I'll handle this on my own, and..."
However, Sanskar cut her off, his concern for her safety overriding everything else. "Absolutely not. You're not going anywhere until I return. Do you hear me?"
To Swara, Sanskar's tone sounded the most serious and stern she had ever heard, and she nodded obediently, not wanting to upset him.
"Alright, I'll do as you say," she replied.
"Good. Go back to the office tomorrow. I've arranged a few tasks for you," he said gently, giving her a peck on the head before swiftly leaving with a sense of urgency.
"This is why Sanskar didn't want me to be here alone. But why did he change his mind all of a sudden?" Swara pondered, facing the numerous rogue wolves before her.
"Alpha Sanskar is heartless, leaving a female wizard from his territory alone in the Black Forest," a werewolf sneered.
Swara shuddered at the sound of their sinister laughter, her heart weighing down with sorrow.
'Sanskar, what are you planning? Are you attempting to eliminate me?' Swara thought with a moment of anguish before firming her resolve. 'But now isn't the time for lamentation. I must find a means of escape.'
"Alpha Sanskar has delivered us a splendid offering. Let us revel in it together," declared the leader of the rogue wolves as he approached Swara.
"Keep your hands off me," Swara warned, her voice trembling with defiance as she moved to conjure a spell to weaken the wicked rogue's power. But before she could act, two of them swiftly restrained her arms behind her back, while another blindfolded her with a black cloth.
"We know all about your powers, witch. You can cast spells not only with your hands but also with your eyes," the leader sneered, gripping Swara's chin tightly.
"You're here for our entertainment, so don't even think about trying to escape," he added devilishly, before cruelly tearing Swara's dress from her shoulder.
"Let go of me! Don't you dare touch me!" Swara yelled, struggling fiercely against the overwhelming force of the werewolves restraining her.
"Release you? Not a chance. Tonight, you belong to me," he sneered, moving closer to Swara's neck.
As his teeth were on the verge of sinking into her skin, a sudden, powerful punch landed squarely on his face, sending him staggering back with blood streaming from his nose.
"Ahh!" he bellowed, writhing in pain on the ground.
The other rogues quaked in terror as they identified the newcomer. "Alpha Ayush..." they gasped collectively, releasing their hold on Swara.
"Daring to lay hands on a wizard? You should lose those hands," Alpha Ayush roared with fury.
Transforming into his wolf form, he launched a ferocious assault on the rogue wolves, tearing through their ranks with relentless savagery, showing no mercy as he ripped their bodies apart like pulling weeds from the ground.
Swara was already overwhelmed by the attack, and the heart-rending scream pierced through her senses, causing her to lose consciousness. Despite her attempts to remove the blindfold, she succumbed to the darkness, only to be caught by two strong arms before hitting the ground.
The following morning, Swara's sleep was disturbed, her body drenched in sweat as she relived the harrowing events of the previous night in her dreams, her voice echoing with desperation as she cried out, "Sanskar, save me."
With a start, she jolted awake, her arms instinctively reaching out to the figure seated beside her bed. The person, their touch comforting, gently rubbed her back and reassured her, "Swara, calm down. I'm right here."
Swara's heart raced as she heard Sanskar's voice. She pulled away from the hug, needing to confirm that the person before her was indeed Sanskar and not a figment of her imagination induced by the night's horrors.
To her relief, it was indeed Sanskar. Without hesitation, she embraced him once more, tears streaming down her cheeks. "Sanskar, thank you for saving me. If it weren't for you, I don't know what would have happened."
Sanskar sighed, gently stroking her head to soothe her. He recounted how, during a business meeting, a sudden sense of unease washed over him as he realized Swara was in danger. Frantically calling his office, he was met by Kavita, who informed him that Swara had not reported to work that day.
He wasted no time and rushed towards the black forest, but he knew that if Swara was indeed in peril, he might not reach her in time. Understanding the urgency, he reached out to Alpha Ayush, the esteemed ruler of the Taiga Mountains, for aid.
"Thank you, Alpha Ayush. I'm indebted to you for this favor." Sanskar expressed his gratitude to Ayush, cradling the unconscious Swara in his arms amidst the aftermath of the rogue wolves' attack.
"For the future Alpha King, anything is within my reach." With a nod of determination, Ayush swiftly departed.
Sanskar hurried to a nearby motel in Alaska. He couldn't bear to tell her the full extent of the danger she had been in, fearing it would only further traumatize her.
"Easy now, my dear. As long as I'm here, no harm will come to you," Sanskar murmured in his most soothing voice, pouring all his efforts into comforting her.
After some time, he managed to calm her down, ensuring she had breakfast before fixing her with a steady gaze. 'Hmm, she seems to be improving. Now it's time to address this,' Sanskar thought, a tinge of anger simmering within him.
The typically short-tempered Sanskar seethed inwardly ever since he discovered Swara alone in the black forest, at the mercy of rogue wolves. He was infuriated by her blatant disregard for his warnings.
"Now, tell me the truth. Why did you come here alone despite my explicit instructions to avoid any risky moves?" Sanskar's grip on Swara's shoulder tightened, his voice soft but his expression stern, his eyes blazing with intensity.
Feeling the pressure of his gaze, Swara trembled inwardly. 'Why is he so angry now, especially after asking Kavita to send me to the Northern Woods?' she wondered, mentally chastising herself for her naivety. 'He couldn't issue that order, knowing the danger. I fell right into Kavita's trap.'
Determined not to let Kavita off the hook, Swara clenched her fists, preparing to reveal the truth to Sanskar. But before she could speak, a knock on the door interrupted them, breaking the tension in the room.
"Alpha Sanskar thinks I lent him a hand, oblivious to your directive for me to assist a wizard," Ayush relayed over the phone.
"Let them bask in their illusions. The alphas of the Crescent Moon pack remain as callous towards wizards as ever," the voice on the other end responded, tinged with sorrow.
Ayush empathized with the pain in the voice and offered his respects: "My condolences for your loss, Lady Janki. We werewolves are indebted to you for our lives."
"Let's not dwell on the past; just ensure the safe departure of that wizard from Alaska," Janki commanded firmly.
"Understood, but Lady Janki, are you absolutely certain you won't assist Alpha Sanskar? He seems to be in dire need," Ayush pressed, hoping to sway her.
"No, I won't. While I can't disrespect the former and future kings of our world, I'll never forgive the Crescent Moon pack. I'll ensure they never locate me until I choose to reveal myself," Janki declared with simmering anger before ending the call.
