Judgment Day

Karan stood on the balcony adjoining his bedroom, rubbing his forehead in frustration after the argument with Swara. He glanced up just in time to see Swara driving her red Chevrolet, the one he had gifted her, out of the villa's compound.

"Damn, that woman is utterly relentless..." he muttered, clenching his fist and slamming it against the railing.

Returning to his room, Sanskar grabbed his jacket, phone, and car keys, ready to chase after Swara. But a loud ring from his phone pierced the calm night, stopping him in his tracks.

The caller was the secret investigator Sanskar had tasked with uncovering the truth about the various incidents surrounding Swara, including the most recent accusation. Recognizing the urgency, he answered the call.

"This better be worth it," he said curtly, annoyed by the disturbance.

"Alpha, I've completed the investigation on Kavita Roy. Since you requested immediate updates, would you prefer to hear the findings now or in the morning?"

Getting Swara back was just as vital as uncovering the real truth about the attack on her. Sanskar raked his fingers through his hair in exasperation.

"Meet me in the villa's parking lot," Sanskar replied with a sigh, opting to hear the investigation results first, aware that an irate Swara would be back shortly on her own.

"These are the findings..." The investigator handed Sanskar a few files and continued, "Kavita Roy drugged Luna Swara twice: once at your birthday banquet and again at her introduction party."

"She plotted to tarnish Swara's reputation. How dare she?" Sanskar muttered angrily, crushing the papers in his grip.

"She went even further. She tampered with Luna's wall climbing gear, leading to her accident. Plus, she deceived Luna into going to the Black Forest alone, pretending it was under your orders. This is the recovered security camera footage from the company."

Sanskar watched the restored footage on his tablet, his rage growing with every moment.

"While there's no direct evidence, I'm certain she orchestrated the rogue attack and was behind the office accident. All the instigators involved were her omegas."

"This is outrageous. She actually tried to eliminate Swara. Did she completely forget who she's messing with or was she too bold?"

Sanskar's fury reached its boiling point. He threw a punch at a nearby car in the parking lot, leaving a large dent in the metal.

"Alpha, please calm down. Kavita's ambitions are audacious enough to harm herself to frame Luna Swara. Here's the footage from the gathering. It took a lot of effort to retrieve, but it shows her spiking two glasses of drinks discreetly in the crowd."

Sanskar squinted at the slightly blurry video, but it clearly showed Kavita adding something to two glasses and handing one to Swara. His veins bulged with anger, and his heart pounded, but he sighed in relief when he saw Kavita drink from her own glass and pass out before Swara could touch hers. He knew all too well that Swara's wolf form made wolfsbane just as lethal for her.

"Kavita Roy, you have played enough tricks to harm my Luna. I promise you won't escape the consequences. Summon the guards; by the first light of dawn, I want the entire Roy family in my most secure cell." Sanskar issued an order before striding away.

"Ah, with two consecutive chaotic nights and an eventful day, I completely forgot about these herbs sent by Alpha Ayush," Swara muttered to herself.

In the kitchen of her old dorm, she worked in secret, following the instructions from an ancient wizard's book to brew a potion with herbs.

"It seems like it's finished. I hope it performs as well as in my previous life," she mused, leaning over the vessel to inspect the concoction and sniffing.

She sipped from the cup, wrinkling her nose at the bitter taste, and took her time finishing it. "For the best effect, I need to have this down by dawn," she muttered, setting the cup on the kitchen table just as her phone chimed with a message.

Swara couldn't help but frown upon seeing Sanskar's summons for the Crescent Moon pack to his court.

"Typical of the heartless alpha, his Luna was out all night, and he couldn't care less," Swara grumbled to herself, in her element as she stormed out, cursing Sanskar under her breath. However, she was taken aback to find Sanskar's chauffeur waiting with his car.

"The Alpha has requested that I escort you to the pack house, Luna," the chauffeur said politely, holding the door open.

"Odd that he knew I was home but didn't bother to come himself. Such a weirdo, huh?" she thought to herself as she settled into the car.

Arriving at the pack house, Swara was taken aback to find not only the high-ranking officials of Crescent Moon but also representatives from Night Shine gathered in the expansive court. "What's going on here?"

She was ushered to the court, where Sanskar sat in his chair, with an empty seat beside him. Adarsh and Laksh stood nearby. Swara recognized the vacant chair meant for her, Sanskar's Luna. As she approached, Sanskar stood and offered his hand. She took it, and together they walked up to the podium, where Sanskar gallantly escorted her to her seat.

"What's happening here?" she whispered to Sanskar.

"Justice for you..." Sanskar replied, embarrassed by his previous lack of trust in Swara. He wanted to make amends in a way that would truly matter.

"Justice?" Swara repeated, her brow furrowing in confusion. "Sanskar, what's really going on? You're scaring me." She clung tightly to his arm.

Even though she wasn't part of the werewolf community, her time in Crescent Moon exposed her to the notorious reputation of the Alpha's court justice. It was reserved exclusively for the most heinous criminals, delivering the most severe and unforgiving punishments.

"Don't worry, you'll find out soon enough," Sanskar reassured her, gently patting her hand on his arm. Then he loudly ordered the guards, "Bring them in."

Mr. and Mrs. Roy, their hands bound with ropes, were dragged in by several guards, looking disheveled and bruised. Behind them, Kavita stumbled forward, injured, shackled with chains, and still wearing her hospital gown, indicating she had been arrested directly from the hospital.

A ripple of shock swept through the room as everyone took in the scene. Swara was as stunned as the rest, except for Sanskar, his guards, and his private investigator, who all remained composed.

"Sanskar, what exactly are you doing?" Adarsh's response was immediate and forceful as he stepped forward.

Sanskar turned his head and gave Adarsh a piercing glare, causing him to bow his head. "Apologies, Alpha Sanskar, but you can't simply arrest the Alpha and Luna of a neighboring pack. It's a serious violation of the law," Adarsh said, his voice tinged with concern.

"Alpha Sanskar, Beta Adarsh is correct," Laksh chimed in, supporting Adarsh's stance. "You can't act unilaterally without the juries' consent. This could provoke other packs to join forces against Crescent Moon."

Laksh's warning was earnest, but Sanskar was ready for such objections. Ignoring the cautions from Adarsh and Laksh, he rose to his feet, taking Swara's hand. With his other hand placed confidently on his waist, he prepared to address the crowd.

"Kavita Roy is guilty of multiple attempts to assassinate the Luna of the Crescent Moon. Armed with irrefutable evidence, I also possess a letter of authorization from the jury members of the werewolf court, allowing me to resolve this matter independently."

A wave of shock and murmurs swept through the hall. Adarsh and Kavita felt as though the ground had been pulled out from under them. Sweating profusely, Kavita wanted to speak in her defense but didn't dare. Adarsh searched for words to dissuade Sanskar, but he knew their actions had already crossed a forbidden line with him.

Swara was in a state of shock, unsure of how to respond. Although she was relieved that Sanskar had proven her innocence, she realized there was much more to address before justice could be fully achieved.

"Alpha and Luna Roy, as the parents and accomplices of the perpetrator, I, Sanskar Ashwood, deem you unfit to lead Night Shine," Sanskar declared, glaring at Kavita's parents and raising his right hand.

"You have two choices," he continued, holding up two fingers. "Either voluntarily surrender your pack and serve as slaves, sparing your pack members, or prepare for a battle and accept the inevitable bloodshed, if you believe you can challenge me."

Sanskar's resounding growl and unmistakable threat visibly unnerved the Roy family, prompting them to lower their heads in submission.

Alpha Roy nodded with solemn resolve. "I will relinquish my position as Alpha of Night Shine. I hereby place my pack under Alpha Sanskar's leadership and am prepared to serve him in penance for my daughter's transgressions."

"As for Kavita Roy..."

"Sanskar, you can't punish me or else..." Kavita interjected, her voice trembling, fearful of Sanskar's retribution, trying to leverage Adarsh's influence to escape, but Swara cut her off.

"Sanskar, please spare Kavita. After all, she is the mate of your brother, Beta Adarsh," Swara pleaded urgently, shaking Sanskar's arm.
