"EHHHHHHHHHHHHH?!?!"

That was all I could exclaim as all of the demons, tall and short began kneeling around me. All dropping their spears, swords and anything they had in hand. To a human outsider, this might've been the single most impressive event throughout their lifetimes. Seeing all of the mighty demons, who have been terrorizing humanity for several hundreds of years, kneeling before a teenage girl was surely a sight to behold...

The problem was...

That teenage girl...

Was me...

...

Like, one would think that after all of this time living as a girl, one would get used to it, right?

Well, sadly, I'm still as awkward about it as ever...

But, that's not even the main point here...

""""""" Long live the Empress!  Long live the Empress! Long live the Empress!"""""""

The demons all kneeling would declare over and over again with an increment in volume each time. Each declaration making me increasingly dizzy as I couldn't understand the basic facts before me.

'Ok ok ok, calm down Reika, these demons are simply going to crown you as their empress... Nothing to be afraid of... Nothing to be afraid of... Nothing to be afr- I DON'T WANT TO BE A DEMON EMPRESS!!! I KNOW I AM ALREADY ONE THROUGH MY TITLES, BUT I DON'T WANT TO BE CROWNED ONE"

To be completely honest, I knew I had no remedy and I would have to accept somehow, someday. But the fact that Scarlet and Amanda were simply staring blankly while a pretentiously playful smile was featured on their faces was enough to get me even more unwilling to go through with this.

"Uh... I don't want to be the demon Empress...?"

  """"""" Long live the Empress!"""""""

...

I had just proclaimed my clear desires, but I guess they didn't hear me? I mean, they're yelling pretty loudly so it's understandable... In any case, I should probably repeat it. Maybe there's a slim chance they'll understand my situation?

"I don't want to be the demon Empress!"

  """"""" Long live the Empress!"""""""

...

Ok, I yelled pretty hard there... Are they ignoring me on purpose? Nah... They shouldn't right? I mean, I am technically the person they're crowning right now, right? I guess I'll say it again...

"LISTEN! I DON'T WANT TO BECOME THE DEMON EMPRESS!"

""""""" Long live the Empress!"""""""

...

I'm getting annoyed...

"Listen... I don't want to be your stupid Empress"

  """"""" Long live the Empress!"""""""

...

Ok, that's it.

...

*Breathes in*

...

"[Master Hide Presence: Off]"

...

I was annoyed, ok?

Just let it be. It's not like these demons deserve mercy anyways.

The second I chanted, the familiar killing intent that I was so used to began pouring from every single direction, spreading far and wide inside the hall.

Instantly, all of the demons became silent as I now could only hear the clattering from their armor as they trembled in fear. It was quite pleasing seeing the immense fear that became apparent in those whose faces resembled that of humans.

In some other cases, you could barely notice the difference though.

It was just as satisfying though...

Anyways... back to the main point.

As the demons became aware of my mood and became increasingly uneasy due to the sudden release of my aura I took a deep breath and released my honest thoughts without a single sliver of filtering involved...

And while clenching my fists and clearing my throat, I finally let my words free:

"Let me drill this into your minds, as you were so eager as to not let me speak before... All of you imbecile demons think I'm going to allow myself to be crowned as your empress without any reason? Let me be very clear... I have no intention to become anyone's empress anytime soon. I don't care what reasoning you may have, I simply won't accept. IS. THAT. CLEAR?"

...

I had spoken my true feelings towards this crowning. It is an unpopular opinion or rather something that these demons had already been expecting. But of course, I couldn't care less about their wants. Not when it concerned me having to become the empress of demons in order to satisfy them.

However, as my short speech began to be processed by the demons present, whispering soon began...

"She's the candidate...?" -Demon 1

"That aura... she has to be" -Demon 2

"Yes yes, she's the one who destroyed the Galvan Fortress" -Demon 3

"Then why is she saying she doesn't want to be the Empress? Is she confused?" -Demon 4

...

Ok, I heard that you know? Didn't you just hear my speech? I AM NOT CONFUSED.

"I simply do not want to become the demon empress..."

I kept repeating that over and over, past the point of exhaustion, yet the murmuring would not cease...

'Ugh... please stop... How do I even get into all of these predicaments...?

I could only be disappointed in myself from my inability to evade conflict, letting out a long and defeated sigh...

However...

Just as I had been sighing my will away, a loud crashing sound was emitted from where my friends and Amanda had been standing...

*SWOSH* *BANG*

I swiftly turned to face the origin of the crashing sound, only to find the doors of the large room had been swung open with an immense amount of force...

And standing in the doorway, now stood a towering figure. He held the single most muscular complexion I've seen in my entire life. He had 6 feathered black angel-like wings on his back. All decorated with gold plated armor and platinum lining.

He had large charcoal-black curved horns on his head and his eyes were bloodshot. Furthermore, he wore a strange yet elegant, polished silver and red armor with hints of black jewels and the likes.

His entire facial expression was rigged with hate and overconfidence. Overall, he was the spitting image of what someone should imagine when they hear the word demon...

He looked very strong and a little scary if I'm being honest...

But my fear for him wasn't as strong as one might think... The true thing that was making me uneasy to the point of suddenly disappearing was the fact that his gaze filled with hatred and the likes was directed straight at me.

...

Yep, the demon that stood at 8ft tall and 4ft wide AT THE VERY LEAST, was staring straight at me...

And of course, knowing my luck, my circumstances, and others, my immediate thought was:

'And even more trouble has arrived...'

But, as I became increasingly disappointed in my luck, the large, muscular demon began making his way to me while declaring some absurd things as he proceeded to walk what seemed to be the red carpet for him.

"So this trash is the other demon lord candidate?"

...

As the overpowering man began to make his way through all of the other trembling demons, my aura seemed to have no effect while the subject of the whispers changed nearly instantly...

"Isn't that Baltazar...?" -Demon 1

"Shouldn't he be waiting for the empress though?" -Demon 2

"Wait, they're going to do it here?!?!" -Demon 3

...

'Doing what here exactly?'

...

I'm not sure if I was understanding the aura properly, but the contrast between Baltazar's or whatever-his-name-is' reactions was quite different?

...

I hope it isn't what I got from the audience... I really do...

That was all I could think about as a strange chill climbed up my spine...

It was definitely very awkward...

Anyways, as I had been stuck within my own thoughts, Balthazar began monologing in his deep and hoarse voice as he kept claiming some... outrageous things...

"How dare this girl even think she can become the legendary demon empress, huh? Being accepted into the demon lord selection process as a non-royal does not prove anything... In fact, how does a girl, who is not even a demon, become the demon empress? It's ridiculous. It was already absurd seeing princess Scarlet as the next one in line for the throne... but this?! This has to be a joke!"

Look, based on the audience's reactions and Scarlet's sudden flinch when mentioned clearly told me something was up... But I didn't really care...

In front of me was nothing else than a dude who thinks I am going to steal his chance to become the demon ruler or something, but that's not even true.

As such, without wasting a single more moment, I cleared my throat and without waiting for him to ask me to speak, I just let him know a piece of my mind.

"Listen here you Baltazar or-whatever-your-name-is, this is your lucky day, I do not even want to become the demon empress. So, do your thing and I'm out"

...

Baltazar was left shocked, just as the audience was taken aback in a similar manner. It was quite a sight to behold.

The huge titan of a demon now stood in place with his mouth agape as he asked in doubt:

"Uh... w-what do you me-?"

"-Shhhh"

I did not care what he had to say, after all, I had made up my mind. And as such, as I placed my finger over my lips shushing him, I began to leisurely walk towards the exit of the room.

I could feel the stupefied gazes of everyone present resting on me, but I couldn't care less.

However, as I had been just a few feet away from reaching the exit... the demon said something that he shouldn't have said...

"Ha. No more than a coward, I see. I had no doubt you would be no more than that. I guess that just comes to prove you're a coward and nothing else. Besides, a demon empress, you? Yeah, don't make me laugh..."

I mean, this first part wasn't that bad.
To be honest I was able to ignore most if not all of it...

However... that second part will make this dude regret every single one of his life choices...

"...yes, such a useless girl is not fit to become a demon lord or empress for that matter..."

...

'Excuse me, what?'

I became frozen in place as the stupid demon kept mocking me and my lack of ability...

But, I had already tuned him out anyways, as my rage had begun to build up...

I'm sorry everyone, it's been a long day and I'm not going to take this from anybody.

Without wasting more time, I swiftly turned around and began slowly walking to the laughing demon with my gaze lowered...

I'm not really sure if anybody could tell what I was about to do, but I'm guessing Myria and Scarlet could tell, as they began calling my name in concern...

"Reika... don't do it..."

"Reik-Cha~n, self-control~"

"..."

Of course, I ignored them and kept walking.

By now, Baltazar had already noticed I had begun approaching back, and he had already started to make me the target of his mockery once more...

"Oh? The little girl got angry? Don't be. You made the right choice, you would've died otherwise..."

His words meant nothing to me as I finally arrived to be a mere 2 or 3 feet away from my large presence...

"What is it that you need, useless girl?"

...

Ok, that's it... I had planned to give him some mercy... But nope! Good gosh, why is everyone so stupid?

That's the question I asked myself in my mind as I placed my hand over the hidden boukyaku's hilt while opening my lips in a cold manner:

"Meh, just know you brought this upon yourself"

Without waiting for a response or even giving anybody else a chance to intervene, I released Boukyaku from its hilt and made some swift cuts here and there...

...

To be honest, to the naked eye, it probably looked as if my sword had barely graced the demon...

But there was one thing that disproved that theory...

As soon as I finished my swift attacks, Baltazar remained standing with no apparent injury...

However, one thing stood out from the others...

Baltazar was no longer moving...

He was not breathing either...

It was as if he was dead...

...

No one in the audience dared to say anything. I guess they were simply curious regarding the reason Baltazar had gone quiet...

'Well, it's not like I'm hiding the answer anyways...'

As soon as that thought crossed my mind, I simply began walking away while I sheathed Boukyaku once more. Of course, whispers didn't take more than 5 seconds to reappear. However, one thing which I bet no one expected, suddenly happened the moment Boukyaku's hilt finally reached its final resting position...

The second I finished sheathing Boukyaku, a number of thuds suddenly echoed in the room...

Thuds followed by dreadful clattering and some thick liquid being spilled on the ground...

...

The room was, once again, completely quiet...

I did not even care to turn around as I knew what had happened...

As such, with a malicious smile on my face, and a devious intention in my soul, I coldly faced the audience, and asked with daggers for eyes:

"Anyone else calling me useless girl?"
