The Tides of War p.2

There was no chakra similar to Naruto's; at least that's what Sasuke thought up until this point in his life. Even the other Jinchuriki he'd met, though their Chakra's had a twinge of something similar, none were remotely alike Naruto.

Especially now with Naruto glowing like a fucking glow stick with his freaky chakra transformation and that somehow his chakra was warm to look at even when Naruto looked ready to kill. Weird, it was just another example of how Naruto was weird.

That all changed when Zetsu started cackling and slipped underground away from their line of sight once again. They would have kept chasing, Naruto could sense him no matter where he went, but they were stalled when a massive fucking golden chain whipped at them, forcing the trio to dodge and split apart.

Naruto and Kakashi both froze looking like deer in headlights leaving Sasuke confused and annoyed because he didn't like not understanding why they reacted so harshly to a justu. Then the chain came again and his Sharingan got an analysis on it, the chakra was too similar to Naruto's.

Finally, the woman attacking them came into view. Her hair was long and the brightest shade of red he'd ever seen. Her mouth had fangs elongated much like Naruto's when he was first merging with the 9-tails, and her body glowed golden with massive chains of condensed chakra whipping around out of her back like some kind of fucked-up tail.

"Whoever is the fucking bastard that brought me back without my control, I'm going to skewer him dattebane." Kakashi and Naruto flinched at the shouts of the angry woman leaving Sasuke to be the one to deflect the attack."Sorry, uh...dodge!" That verbal tic, that chakra...

"Mom?" Naruto's voice cracked.

A man who looked exactly like an older more rugged version of Kakashi appeared, giving a bittersweet smile to the woman. "Hmm, how do you plan on accomplishing that when your actions are not yours to control?" Sasuke looked over to his sensei, his sensei who was pale and both eyes were so wide and shocked they were expressing more emotion now than Sasuke had seen Kakashi show in the entirety of being his student.

A soft, loving voice echoed softly over Sasuke's team's shocked silence; the final figure joining the fray. "If you figure it out I'd be happy to lend a helping hand." It was Sasuke's turn to freeze. His blood went cold and his eyes burned with tears as he saw his mother.

"M-Mom."

"Assholes." Kushina spat at the two. "Hi Naru." Naruto couldn't even respond, his tongue tied with shock at his mom being here, here to kill them. Kushina grinned lovingly at her son before turning a mocking smile to Kakashi. "Kakashi, still wearing that stupid mask like always?"

Kakashi blinked stupefied, broken out of his complete shut down at the familiar teasing used to grab his attention.

"Yep." He replied blandly, lacking the usual Kakashi-ness of his responses.

"Brat." She huffed getting a soft smile from Mikoto and an endearing laugh from Sakumo. Kakashi never took his eyes from his father, his brain switching between seeing the man before him and the one lying dead on the living room floor. His father gave him a guilty smile...even if he was here to kill his son and capture the glowing boy, he was capable of using his mouth and was going to try and earn forgiveness, or at least let Kakashi know he loves him.

"Sasuke my sweet boy, you look good, healthy." She smiled at him, just like she used to, and Sasuke let a tear fall. He was the first of the three but to see his mom, he couldn't stop it. He was so happy to see her again but there was also a rage, so deep he had only felt it with Danzo. How dare Kabuto bring her back to life just to mock him, to force them to fight one another.

Kabuto let his puppets have a second to speak with their children, really let it sink in that they were here...before they were forced to fight. Parent versus child, it couldn't have worked out more perfect.

With his limited pawns, he had to pick three that would be able to stall and kill all but Naruto. As a way to slow them down as well as break their will to fight, this was perfectly done. Now more than ever Naruto just wanted to rip Kabuto's head off with his own hands. Only someone truly evil would make his teammates, make anybody go through a pain like this.

"I can feel it, we are going to attack. Stop us and then go kill that bastard for even trying to get me to hurt my own son. Naru, you're my son and I'll die again and again before I want to hurt you so don't you dare take it easy on me just cuz I'm your mother 'ttebane."

Naruto gave a weepy nod, his eyes shifting from watery to determined. He was going to do his mother proud. "Ready?" He questioned his teammates, standing up straight, confident even if all he wanted to do was break.

"Naruto, Sasuke. If this is too much, I will stay behind and finish this so you can go after Zetsu." Kakashi finally put himself together, emotions in check. He stepped up to his students, not wanting them to have to deal with the emotional strife. However, neither of them looked ready to backdown even at the offer.

"No, this is our duty as well." Naruto gave a cheeky halfhearted grin. "Besides my mom is awesome, Sasuke's mom is too probably, can't let them beat up an old man like you 'ttebayo."

"Hn." Sasuke smirked in agreement. Kakashi gave Naruto a nod wondering when he stopped calling the shots and became an 'old man' instead.

Kushina's chakra chains began waving wildly in the air again, her chakra an imposing pressure as she readied for battle. Mikoto's eyes shifted from black to red with her Sharingan activating. Sakumo had no obvious traits but he expertly held a Tanto in his grip and his body was primed to attack with both weaponry and deadly jutsu. Even when they tried to fight it, the three reanimated adults moved in for the attack.

Kushina's chains clashed with Naruto's shadow clones. He created just enough to be an army of himself but even (usually) being able to take more than one hit in this form, she killed them easily. When they dispersed, he used the smoke as cover to grab ahold of the chains and yank them, pulling Kushina with him away from the other two battles. "You're even prettier in person mom!" His palms burned slightly because of the way the chains were pure chakra, but his coating of golden chakra prevented any real damage.

"Ha, you really are too sweet 'ttebane." Kushina grinned happily, Naruto was strong and creative and she was so proud of him. "How do you plan on getting rid of me I can't die and this jutsu doesn't seem to have a time limit."

"Hina-chan and Pervy Sage have their own team to take down Kabuto so he releases the jutsu 'ttebayo! But that won't always work, if we let that much time too many people would get hurt so I made a seal!" Naruto held up the paper tag for his mother to see as he dodged her attacks. He was beaming with pride.

"Thats..."Kushina went wide eyed at the intricacy of the seal. Her and Minato really did make some badass genius of a child.

"Yeah! It kinda grabs your soul and freezes your body and whoosh...separates the two then seals you making your dead soul...dead again?" Naruto giggled sheepishly at Kushina's laugh of his shoddy explanation. "Heh, I can't explain the whole thing that great but it works! The whole alliance has some 'ttebayo!"

"All you have to do is stick it to my actual body right?" She smiled, it looked just like his. It was the smile of a mother who loved him so much, a smile of pride.

"Yeah." His enthusiasm from talking to his mother died down again when he realized this was the last time he'd get to talk to her.

"Then do it 'ttebane." Naruto's vision was slightly blurred from the tears dripping down his face.

"I love you Naruto, I'm so happy to get to talk to you one last time. I'm so proud of you, Minato would be too. You've grown up into such a handsome man, even more so than last time I saw you. You make sure to beat all those bastards and afterward, I want some grandchildren. No less than 2, but get married and make sure you love the girl first 'ttebane."

"Ok... yeah... I can do that." He gave a wobbly smile at his mother as she did the same, tears dripping down as she snorted in a sob. As the chains swung down to capture him, Naruto placed a gravity seal on one, the massive golden weapon slammed into the ground immobile until she disperses it. The others he blasted away with a wind cutter Jutsu.

Taking the pronged Kunai much like his father, Naruto threw one right at her feet. As the Kunai was digging into the soft earth, Naruto was there, slamming the seal onto her abdomen. As powerful as Kushina was, Kabuto didn't equip her to be prepared for Naruto to have so many unknown skills, especially being able to use the Flying thunder god so expertly. He would have sent a different one to capture him, but no matter, he'd be taken out soon enough.

Kushina looked down at the seal and her smile softened. She pressed a kiss to Naruto's head right before she was incapable of any movement. "You really are special, my son. I'm sorry I wasn't there to watch you grow up but you turned out even better than I hoped. I love you my beautiful boy."

"I love you so much mom. I'm glad to have met you twice, thank you for loving me even if you couldn't be there for me. You'll be in my heart forever." Naruto blubbered to her as the seal started working. He wrapped his arms tightly around his mother, crying into her until she was completely gone.

Sakumo descended on Kakashi, but the younger Hatake put some distance between he and his father. "Maa I never expected to see you again." Kakashi acted nonchalant though being the emotionally stunted man he was, he wasn't even sure what other emotion to show. He wasn't even sure how he was feeling right now.

"You're fast, even faster than me. Use that, hit me with all you've got and take me out." Kakashi's Sharingan allowed for him to assess every possible opening before his father could close the gap and so Kakashi released a variant of the chidori to the elder Hatake. It was a newly created, lessened version that took away the power to add distance attacks to it.

Even if he couldn't die, Kakashi was hoping that any fatal attacks would at least allow him to fully stun his father's body into not moving. The faster he could end it the better, his reserves weren't as big as they needed to be and he was pretty sure his father was much stronger than him even without the reanimation. The less chance his father has to attack the better.

"That was an interesting jutsu, your lightning is more potent than most." Sakumo's insides should have been fried but he just took the jutsu, absorbing the lighting into his body and sending it back even more powerful. Kakashi put up an earth wall, bringing out a kunai to parry the swipe of his fathers tantō and barely managed to dodge the immediately following kick. It grazed his arm and sent a painful shock through his system.

Much like Tsunade infused her punches with a chakra release, Sakumo did the same with lightning so even blocking a hit still did painful damage. Kakashi didn't even flinch.

Even limited by what Kabuto can control, Sakumo was unbelievably strong and their battles were making Kakashi sweat. He had to survive and not run out of chakra which was proving more and more difficult. Sakumo was even more proficient in lightning that Kakashi thought, he couldn't absorb and expel other people's lighting with the same ease his father did. His father could release larger more devastating jutsu but Kakashi just had to get one hit, one blow to end it all.

"Kakashi I made your life harder than I needed to, I scarred you at an age far too young. I left you alone because I was too weak to handle the scorn of the village. I don't deserve the title as your father nor do I deserve your forgiveness but I can finally rest letting you know how much I love you and how I'm so sorry, for everything." Sakumo gave a heartbreaking smile to his son.

"I forgive you, I did a long time ago." Kakashi smiled at his father, feeling himself find peace he hadn't felt since his father killed himself. Kakashi blamed himself for his fathers death, if only he was nicer, if he showed him he wanted him to stay. But now, he could move forward.

"Kakashi. Thank you." Sakumo readied another attack, Kakashi was backed into a corner. Each hand formed their own set of seals. He slammed one to the ground and the other went to his mouth. Water spewed from his lips as Sakumo came in for another attack, the water meeting with the electricity and burning his coils to the point he was useless until they healed.

His Ninken appeared from the other jutsu, latching onto Sakumo with downturned ears and sad whimpers. His body took on a familiar numbness as he readied for another 'kill'.

"I hated you. I thought you were weak and I was ashamed to be your son. And then everything changed, I lost my team because I was the one who was weak. I hated you but now I'm proud to be your son and follow in your path." Kakashi placed the seal on his father, the man who never stopped smiling at how wonderful his temperamental son had become. Sakumo felt his soul lift, a lightness filling him as his regrets were finally put into the open and forgiven. He could die happily now.

"Goodbye my son." Kakashi pressed his forehead against Sakumo's, smiling sadly as his father dispersed. His puppies surrounded him and licked Kakashi, trying to show him it was ok to be sad.

"Goodbye father."

Sasuke felt like the ground was pulled from underneath him as he made eye contact with his mother and she attempted to layer genjutsu upon genjutsu with the power of her Sharingan. After the issues with Itachi and Sakura in his youth, Sasuke considered himself to be a genjutsu master and even though his mothers were strong, he broke out of them instantly.

"Hn. That won't be enough mother, I've grown since I was younger." Sasuke smirked slightly in pride. He was bragging slightly to his mother; he was a mama's boy and wanted her to be proud of him.

"I can see that and I'm so proud of you Sasuke. My sweet boy." Her eyes glistened as she watched her son, he had grown up so handsome and strong. Even though he lacked the bright smile he wore often as a child, there was still life in his eyes. Something she feared had been taken away after the downfall of their clan. She was so happy that her fears were not true.

Mikoto sent an array of weapons towards Sasuke, getting in close to fight him with her smooth, dance-like variation of the Uchiha Taijutsu.

Sasuke simply worked to dodge each attack, he wanted her close to just be with his mother even if it meant he got a few bruises and cuts. He could have fought back, activated his susanoo or something but he didn't. He just wanted to see his mother for a bit longer. Mikoto however, hurt each time she hit him.

"Sasuke please, stop this. I don't want to hurt you." Mikoto urged her son with the soft, pleading of her voice. The same voice that would sing Sasuke to sleep and tell her she loved him when he cried.

"Hn." He didn't want to agree, he didn't want to hurt his mother even if she was already dead.

Mikoto threw a hand over her mouth when she gasped, a sob stuck in her throat as Sasuke's eyes shifted into his Eternal Mangekyo. That could only mean...her heart clenched for her eldest child and the tears she had held back at seeing Sasuke finally began to fall. "Itachi-"

"Is alive. I found out the truth of the massacre before I could kill him." Sasuke's Susanoo grew in its most base form, just the ribs and a bony arm coming together to grasp his mother in an unbreakable hold.

"Then how?"

"Hinata, she switched our eyes."

"Who knew something so simple could be a solution to the curse of these eyes."

"Only a dumbass like her could think of something like that." Mikoto laughed softly at Sasuke's jab, it was as cute as it was when he was a child.

"Sasuke, it's time. I love you so please, end it." Sasuke had the seal ready, it gripped tightly in his fist as he shook. He was trying so hard to move forward, to reach his hand out and seal away his mother.

"Dammit, I can't do it. I just got you back. I don't want you to go, not yet. Dammit dammit dammit" Sasuke cried, his voice breaking as he cried out to his mother. He couldn't let her go yet, it hurt so much. He didn't care if she was trying to kill him, she was his mother. He finally got to see her again, got to see her smile that loving smile again, got to hear her say she loves him. He couldn't let go.

"My job as a mother is to give my everything for you to succeed, even in death that has not changed. Please, don't hold back for the sake of your mother, you have to be the one to walk away. I'm dead remember? This is nothing but an imitation, but you, you're so beautiful. So alive. Don't throw that away because you don't want to hurt me. Nothing you do can hurt as much as the pain I feel when my only drive is to kill you. Don't let me hurt anymore"

"Mom." Sasuke pressed her hand against his cheek as he activated the seal. "I love you, I love you. I'm sorry mom. Goodbye, goodbye. I'm sorry." His chest heaved with sobs as he finally got to say goodbye. Mikoto gave him one last smile, this one sweeter than all the rest, giving him all the love in the world.

"I love you my sweet little Sasuke. I'm so proud of the man you've become. I love you so much. Tell Itachi I love him too, tell him I forgive him. I'm sorry I couldn't be here longer." He sunk to the ground with his mother, holding her as she disappeared.

**Just to note, Madara comes in the war a bit later than Minato and Hashirama and stuff...not much but enough

An intense, suffocating chakra so potent it seemed to overpower the feel of everyone else's began seeping out over the battlefield in a toxic sheet. It was intense in a way different than that of a Jinchuriki, it was the strength of a human not of a chakra beast but just as potent and dangerous, if not more so because of that fact.

"This chakra..." Sasori's gruff voice trailed off, his chakra became prickly with the new sense of threat that was suffocating to any who could feel legitimate fear. He wasn't afraid but everything in his logical brain was telling him to leave.

"Madara." Itachi confirmed. His eyes went directly to where Madara was coming from, the Tomoe spinning into the intricate design of his Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan. He'd been saving his chakra just in case this happened, to go up against Madara until Hinata could get Kabuto to undo the jutsu, he'd need as much left as possible.

"I really fucking hate Uchiha un." Deidara's fingers twitched with the desire to blow that fucking Madara sky high, Itachi was a brat with his Sharingan hax but this Madara was even worse already. Even as a non-sensor and up in the air he could feel it, he was going to make him into art or die trying.

Kisame looked mostly un-phased, in fact he was grinning. "Ready to feed Samehada?" Samehada was panting, his tongue lolling out to taste the strong chakra as he waggled in anticipation. "This'll be fun." Itachi would disagree but he wouldn't deny his blood was pumping, adrenaline soaring in anticipation for the battle.

"Man" Suigetsu gave a wry grin to Jugo. "We're fucked big guy." He took a swig of water and seemed to be reinvigorated as he unsheathed the second blade in the twin set of Kiba. "Might as well go down swinging." Jugo gave a nod in return, forcing his body to revert fully into his chaos state but this time his entire murderous focus was directed to killing Madara and protecting Itachi.

With his hair flowing, Sharingan eyes looming ominously, and a distasteful glower on his face Madara came barreling down besides Pain, kicking up a cloud of debris with his landing. He stood tall, arms crossed as he surveyed the area.

"Kisame, Jugo, Suigetsu we'll fight Madara. Sasori, Deidara finish Pain's final body and subdue Konan before joining us." Itachi commanded firmly yet his voice was still soft. Everyone was in agreement with his strategy except an explosive blonde who'd rather blow himself up than follow the commands of Itachi.

"Uchiha, don't tell me what to do un." Everyone, even Pain and Konan, sighed deeply at Deidara's pouty insubordination. Sasori couldn't roll his eyes harder if he tried.

Sasori jabbed his scorpion tail at Pain. "Brat, we'll take out Pain's body, you've figured out the timing." He didn't want to stroke Deidara's ego any more than he needed to, but because Deidara respected his partner, Sasori was the only one here Deidara would take any sort of suggestion from.

At his acknowledgement of Deidara's keen timing to figure out the timing between Pain's attacks, the blonde gave a prideful grin to his partner. "Of course I have Danna un, my art is perfection, hmm." The blonde rose to the sky, hovering above the team ready to move as soon as everything was ready.

Completely ignoring the group that was just in battle, Madara turned to the Rinnegan wielder. "Ah, so you are the one who has taken over for that useless fool Obito."

"Yes, it'll be an honor to fight along side you order to activate the Infinite Tsukuyomi and bring peace to this wretched world." He droned, tilting his head in the slightest of bows to show respect.

"Hn." Madara disregarded Pain's words, calling him Obito's replacement, gave Konan an uneasy feeling in her gut. There was some dark look in his eyes that promised this was not going to go well. His arrival, not under Kabuto's control in the slightest, worried her. The puzzle pieces were beginning to come together, what was the truth and what was all manipulation. Soon, she was going to have all the pieces.

The Uchiha elder turned his sharp gaze back to the group fighting in opposition with his plan. Looking at how weak they seemed and yet how they were so close to finishing Pain, he scoffed harshly. "You stand in opposition to peace, to never having a loved one die needlessly again, to have perfection all for what...something as useless as free will? Pathetic." Madara locked eyes with Itachi. "No matter, I will destroy your pitiful resistance-"

Madara's speech of condemnation was halted as the ground shook and a bomb blew up right in his face. "Ha, take that stupid Uchiha, you talk to much un." Deidara stuck a tongue out as Madara and Pain were separated and the Uchiha had the injuries done by the small bombs pieced back together. "Katsu!" A series of bombs, much like others following, the next blasts being repelled by Pain's jutsu.

Deidara's bombs were so small, so lacking in chakra that when they were buried under ground and someone wasn't purposely looking for them they were undetectable, even for a sensor like Madara. A perfect way to end the speech and get the battle going once again. Unfortunately, just like the annoying blankness of Itachi, Madara didn't even look phased.

"What arrogance. I was going to give you the option of how you die but now, I will show you how worthless you are use your broken bodies as a symbol to the rest." With a flick of his hand, Madara created 5 shadow clones. They all wore that infuriating, domineering smirk as each was encased in the vibrant glow of his armored Susanoo.

"Can you do that?" Kisame questioned, the rest turned to look at Itachi as well, it would be helpful if he could now that he was healed.

"No." Itachi sighed deeply as everyone deflated slightly at his response. If it were any less serious of a time Kisame would even argue that Itachi was pouting.

"Oh well, doesn't matter anymore, we're still gonna to kick some ass." With that, Kisame launched himself at one of the Susanoo clones, swinging Samehada down with a cackle. Itachi followed suit, aiming for the real Madara; his red Susanoo shaping to life around him.

Suigetsu was quick to attack by lashing down with the electric charged Kiba but before he could make contact, he was ripped apart, forced to liquidate as each half of his body was thrown opposite directions. Too long separated he would die. Madara planed for that so as Suigetsu was futile in his attempts to bring his halves together with how far apart they were, the clone decided to aid in taking down the next target, Kisame who was gaining an advantage with his absorption of the clone's chakra. Samehada was fattening up nicely as it drained the clone, already forcing the Susano back into its most mediocre form.

Before the clone could reach its target, Itachi left his own battle. Itachi allowed for a large drain of chakra when he wielded his Sword of Totsuka, slashing down on the Susanoo and sucking it into his specialized blade. The blade and corresponding shield dispersed after its first use, Itachi panting slightly from the drain. He'd bring it out again only when needed.

Jugo took a hard hit as he stopped to look over at Suigetsu. He skidded to a stop but was close enough to the legs of his new friend to force his hands to meld together and carry the jelly like substance over to the cursing upper half.

"Thanks man, you're a lifesaver."Jugo grunted in acknowledgement. "Wanna team up on yours? Together we can take this bastard down, or stall him for Itachi to do that thingie again." Suigetsu assumed Jugo was in agreement when he turned back to the Madara he was facing and started grinning maniacally.

"We're going to kill you, you hear that. Your blood will be mine!"

One of the Madara clones aimed for Deidara and Sasori, forcing them to split their attention between attacking Pain and defending from the Susanoo. After Deidara was smacked from the sky, they switched tactics, taking out the clones first, Pain second. The self-proclaimed God was forced to re-charge anyways in order to build enough chakra for his summoning.
