"He has a way of surviving everything."

18.

We all stood around anxiously waiting for a miracle, well, waiting for Bellamy. After he got cut off on the radio we grew concerned, not just for him but we didn't have much time till everyone picked their hundred and they came piling in.

"I think they're ready." A guard said to Indra, my heart pounded in my chest, we're not ready though. Before anyone can react to him the vault clicks and opens up. Bellamy comes out and I sigh in relief.

"O." He says when she rushes over to hug him. I can't help but smile, the Blakes are back. Once she says some things to him and he hugs her again he's walking towards me.

"You scared me." I say as I pull him into a hug.

"I know but everything's fine now." I guess he meant as fine as it could be all things considered.

"They're here." The guard says and people start filling in. Right on time. Before Octavia can say anything she pulls out her sword and holds it to Echo's neck.

"Not you." She tells her.

"But-" Echo tries but Octavia cuts her off.

"No, your banishment from Roan still stands." I can understand Octavia's hatred for her, Echo tried to kill her and actually thought she did.

"Enjoy Primfaya." I tell her. She sends me a nasty glare but it's not like she didn't deserve it after everything she has done. She put Bellamy through complete heartbreak when he though she killed Octavia, I have no sympathy for her.

Octavia whispers something to her and then Echo walks away. Octavia turns to everyone.

"This is our home. We are now One Clan."

"A hundred of our people? That's a fourth of them in total!" Jaha yells as Octavia explains to him what's going on.

"Each clan will suffer, that's how this works." She tells him.

"You want to send three hundred and sixty four of our people to their deaths?" He shakes his head in disbelief.

"How is this any different than when you sent one hundred of us to die down here, huh?" I say stepping up to him. No doubt being sent down here was magical at first and hell, if I didn't get sent down here I wouldn't of met Bellamy but this was the same thing.

"That was so we could survive!" He explains.

"This is too! This is how we survive, everyone already chose their people, it's time for us to choose." Here we were back at choosing people again, it was terrible but there was nothing else we could do.

"We'll hold a raffle." Kane states. Jaha just shakes his head. To me a raffle didn't seem like the best idea, what if we got stuck with no doctors or farmers? I wasn't seeing another way though unless someone wanted to make a list like Clarke had done. Or dig out her list and use it.

"First, we need to go get Raven. I volunteer to be apart of that trip." Bellamy states. I nod with him.

"Me too." He doesn't argue with me this time.

"I'm going with you guys." Clarke says.

"Well, you guys be safe. There will be a place for all four of you when you get back." Kane explains and I nod.

"Meet in the airlock in ten." Clarke tells us and we nod. We all walk out of the office we were just in and that's when I spot Mikel and Liza again. I run up to them and squeeze them into a hug knowing they got selected.

"How..." I didn't know how to ask how they made it in, one hundred spots were tough to make.

"Mikel is well known and liked in our village, and I hold healer status already." Liza says. I smile at them glad that they made it.

"Taylor, what's going on?" I turn around to see my dad standing there. It felt like ages since the last time I saw him. I wrap my arms around him and he holds me.

"Dad, you're safe, okay? I promise." I tell him but he just looks confused.

"Just trust me, I'll be back, okay?" He nods and places a kiss on my head. Before I can turn away he grabs my arm and opens my hand. He places his wedding band in my palm and I look at him curiously.

"I don't know what you're doing, sweetheart, but I trust you. If... if we don't see each other again, I want you to have that. Well, maybe you could give it to Bellamy." He suggests with a sad smile on his face.

"Dad, I'll see you soon. I just need to go get Raven but I'm coming right back." I try to give him back the ring but he shakes his head.

"Even if you are, I've meant to give that to you so just in case..." He winks at me and I smile.

"I love you." I say and squeeze him tight one more time afraid that I might not make it back, anything can happen.

"I love you more. Now go be a hero like always." He shoves me gently and I roll my eyes. I make my way through the crowd as I shove the ring into my front pocket. I already have my gun with me so I head towards the airlock where Bellamy and Clarke are with Abby.

"Ready?" Bellamy asks me. I nod. Abby helps us with our suits and once we have them on she starts to say bye to Clarke. Before we put on our masks the door is opening and Murphy and Emori enter.

"Have room for two more?" He asks.

"Why are you here?" Bellamy asks him.

"Maybe we have a better chance at a spot if we bring back the chosen ones." Murphy jokes but I can tell he's serious.

"There's a lottery, I can get your name in it." Abby tells him.

"And emori?" He asks.

Abby hesitates, "I'll try my best."

Murphy and Emori nod and start to put on their suits. I look over to Clarke who looks worried, I take her hand in mine and squeeze.

"We're gonna make it, it's going to be okay." I tell her even though I barely believe the words myself. She nods and squeezes back. Once they have their suits on Abby says one last goodbye to Clarke. Bellamy heads up the stairs and opens the seal and he climbs up. We follow right behind him until we're all out and Murphy shuts it.

The room is now covered in ash but it reminds me of snow. I take in a deep breath and try to calm myself down.

"We need to get to the cargo truck." Bellamy tells us. We walk through the halls until finally we get outside. It's the same as in the inside with a lot more ash blowing around, the sky is dark and everything looks so bleak now compared to when it was so full of life not even a few hours ago. Once we get to the truck me and Bellamy hop into the front seat and the rest get in the back. Bellamy quickly turns it on and we pull off leaving a dust cloud behind us.

"What happened down there?" I ask Bellamy as he drives.

"Clarke said the plan was to get you and Kane out too, then we would just take the bunker for ourselves." I bite my lip, Clarke was going to leave us to die. part of me knows I can't blame her, she was scared Octavia wouldn't make it, I get that. She wanted to do what was best for her people like she always does because that's how Clarke is.

"I see..." I sigh.

"But we're fine now, everything is going to be fine." Bellamy says.

"I'm worried about Monty. He should've made it back already."

"He's Monty, he always pulls through." I laugh at that. He does, even when you think he won't, Monty has his way of surviving everything.

As I was about to speak I turn to look at the road.

"Watch out!" I yell to Bellamy as I see a person in the middle of the tracks. He immediately tries to swerve out of the way but it's too late and we end up hitting the person and then hitting a tree.

"Are you okay?" He asks me.

"Yeah, he came out of nowhere..."

"Stay here, I'm gonna check it out." I nod. Once he opens the door though he's getting yanked out and then I hear yelling.

"Incoming!" Murphy yells from the back and I quickly try to get out and someone pulls me out just as they did with Bellamy.

I smack against the floor as the grounder gets on top of me and wraps his hands around my neck and squeezes. I'm able to knee him in the groin and he lets up enough for me to punch him in the face so hard he falls off of me and I stand up. He tries to grab me again from where he's kneeling on the ground but I grab his head and slam it into the side of the truck making him slump to the ground. The feeling of killing is foreign again considering it's been so long since I even got close to taking someones life. I don't have time to register my thoughts as I turn around and see everyone else fighting someone. The guy on top of Emori was the closest so I grab my knife out of my suit pocket and jam it into his neck. He falls off her and I help her up. A few arrows whizz past us out of nowhere and shoot down the other grounders who were attacking. Before I know it they're all on the ground as we try to catch our breaths. The mysterious grounder who helped us takes off the cloth from their face. Echo.

"Echo, what are you doing here?" Bellamy questions her.

"I know about the bunker off the island. I was hoping since I just saved your lives you could return the favor." The bunker Murphy was talking about going to with Emori. I don't know what to say, she did save our lives after all and if we're already heading there...

"Fine." I say making the decision for the group. I hated Echo just as much as everyone else did, but she didn't have to do what she just did. I hated her but I didn't want to leave her stranded after helping us. Hell, I was fine with Octavia keeping her out of the bunker just a short while ago but this felt different. Clarke looks at me weirdly before nodding her head. We give her the extra suit in the back as Bellamy has the idea to see if he can reach a signal on the radio to get a hold of Monty.

"Bellamy, are you there?" I hear Monty's voice come through and I let out a breath I didn't know I was even holding

"Yes, we're here. We have a problem though, we broke down northeast of Polis, we need you to make a pit stop." He says into the radio.

"We're on our way." He says.

Emori starts to cough as she stands by my side, I let her lean into me as Murphy comes over. She starts to spit up blood.

"She's been exposed." I state.

"How? She has a suit on?" Murphy yells frantically. I check around her to see a whole by her neck.

"There's a hole but we don't have the tools to fix it." I explain.

"We have an extra suit." He says.

"No we don't." Clarke tells him. He then turns to Echo. Of course. I quickly step in front of him as he tries to get at her.

"Murphy! Murphy stop!" I yell as he struggles to get past me.

"We're just going to think she followed us out of the kindest of her heart? No." Murphy is riled up, I know he cares deeply for Emori. I may have not known Murphy for long but he's never been like this before. He actually cares about someone more than he does for himself.

"She can have my suit." Clarke says as she starts to take off her helmet.

"I have night blood." She explains her reasoning.

"Untested nightblood." Bellamy buts in.

"I'm testing it now."

Murphy helps Emori put on the helmet and we're back to waiting for Monty and Harper.

Bellamy shares a solemn look with me and that's when I know our window of time to make it back to Polis is gone. There was no way we could go get Raven and make it back on time. As we hold each other's gaze the revs of the rover sound through the forest and then the headlights are shining in front of us. Monty gets out with Harper who pulls out a box. A little part of me breaks when I don't see Jasper, I know it was a long shot but a very small part of me still had an inkling of hope that maybe he would change his mind last minute. 

"Clarke, there's an extra suit. It was for Jasper but at least now it will be put to good use." Monty says. I bite my lip so hard I taste blood. Monty sends me a look and tears start to form in my eyes. The heartache starts to creep in but I push it down and swallow hard. 

"We have to go." Monty says as we all pile in.

"We have to go to Raven." Clarke states as Monty was about to start driving.

"We won't make it back in time, Clarke." Monty states. 

"There's no other way to survive this unless we're in that bunker." Bellamy tells her. 

"What if there is?" We all share looks wondering what the hell she's going on about.

Next chapter is the last chapter! 

I can't believe this guys! This chapter was a bit of a filler chapter towards the end so you guys can know whats going on before we jump into the last episode. I'm so excited for the next chapter and for book 5! There were times in season 5 where I wasn't too happy with the episodes and season 5 seemed to be a huge filler season but I didn't mind seeing all my favs again.
