Rehana POV
"What kind of game is this?" I asked, feeling intrigued with the idea.
"Well," he said and looked at everyone.
"We are seven couples here. So, we will play this in couples. The game is that one of us will spin the bottle, and the couple at whom this bottle's head aims will be the target. The man will choose the Whispers of Truth or the shadows of Dare. And, if it's whispers of truth, one of us will make a guess about the couple or any of them. The woman has to stay silent if it's true, but if it's not true, one of them has to tell a real story. And, if the man chooses shadows of dare, then one of us will give the couple a task to complete," he finished, and we all just stared at him.
"That's such a bad idea," Nandani's husband immediately said, and we all looked at him.
"Why? Are your secrets at risk?" Abhinandan asked while patting loudly on the floor.
"I am totally in," he added with an expression I found amusing, and Haider smiled.
"Well, there is nothing special to hide, so I do not have any problem," Aahil said.
Ruhani chuckled, looking at him. And he just kissed the side of her forehead.
"Are you okay with playing this?" He asked her in a low whisper, and she nodded.
"I do not think we should play this," Agastya said all of a sudden, and Ranvijay chuckled.
"I knew it. I knew this was coming," he laughed, and his wife smiled.
"Hukum, why are you troubling him?" She asked, and suddenly asked.
"What is there to laugh, Bhaisa? There is really nothing to hide. I am as transparent as water," Agastya said, and suddenly, his wife chuckled.
"What? What?" Agastya asked, and she shook her head.
"Alright, I feel invested to know," Haider said, looking at him with the notorious eyes.
"I am in," Jaan-e-Jahan said, and I looked at him.
Obviously, he would be in. This was better than sleeping with me in his arms.
However, I really felt like I knew what kind of secrets would come out tonight.
"Alright," Agastya finally agreed, and Nandani's husband nodded as well.
"Okay, let's begin," he said, and Nandani laughed all of a sudden.
It was an evil laugh. It was something really loud and funny that made everyone laugh.
"Watch out! Rudra, your secrets are at risk. I hope we were on the opposite team. I would have had better questions to ask you," she said.
He immediately grabbed her by the waist, made her sit before him, and pulled the comforter up.
"Shut up, little bird," he said, and my jaw dropped to the floor.
He gave her a nickname.
And my husband had not even thought of it yet.
Urghhhh. How worse could it be now?
"Alright, let's begin," Haider said, and everyone shifted a little more back to make space for the bottle to spin.
I noticed Jaan-e-Jahan picking up a fistful of nuts and having one.
Suddenly, he looked at me and forwarded his hand towards me. I opened my palm wide for him, and he placed a few nuts in my hand.
A tiny smile appeared on my lips, and he turned back to look at the bottle that Haider just placed in the middle.
It was cute.
It was an empty glass bottle.
"Alright, let's see who is first," he said and spun the bottle. We stared at it with utmost attention as if our life depended on it.
The bottle spun at high speed at first; Agastya took a drag of the Hookah as the bottle kept spinning, gently slowing down, and finally into the last spins before it stopped right before Agastya.
He immediately coughed hard, and they all cheered in unity.
"Aaj aaya oot pahad ke niche,"
"Finally, the camel is under the mountain," Ranvijay said, and I chuckled.
I really did not understand what was the hype about it. But I laughed as well, feeling excited.
"That's cheating. How come I get the first?" he said, and his wife laughed while sitting beside him.
"So, who is making the guess, and for them or him?" Haider asked, and I noticed Abhinandan straightening up from the pile of pillows and clearing his throat.
"I am," he said, and I noticed his wife smiling at him.
"Well, he does not really know anything about my life," Agastya rolled his eyes, chuckling, and Abhinandan crossed his legs, placing both hands on his knees and straightening his back.
A wide smile was on his lips.
"So, Prince Agastya," he said, and we all looked at him with curiosity. "I think he has made his wife cry a lot," he finished, and we all turned our gazes to his wife.
She looked back at all of us, and I noticed Agastya still coughing, animatedly moving the smoke away from his mouth.
"What kind of guess is this?" he asked with an uneven voice. Suddenly, Aahil said.
"Well, Abhinandan, you have to clarify what kind of crying we are talking abo—"
"Aahil!" Ruhani immediately cut him off with a slap on his hand and stared into his eyes.
Agastya's wife shrunk with timidity, and I turned to look at Jaan-e-Jahan confusedly. Were they talking about what I was thinking?
Like loud crying in bed when two get entangled. I had seen that in the brothel. It was horrible. I would ask him later.
"Aahil, my friend, hesitate," Agastya said, finally getting rid of his coughing and looking at his wife.
"Any type of crying. A single tear would work," Abhinandan clarified, and the way Agastya's wife stayed silent made it seem true.
"Oh, My God! We have a bad husband here," Haider said, squinting his eyes playfully at him.
"Why did you make her cry? Agastya," Ranvijay asked, and Agastya gulped, staring at his wife.
"Sote sote baal khich gaye the Suman ke, to Rone lag gayi, Ye hume rulane walo me se hai, Bhaisa, Bholi si surat, aakhon me masti, or dimag me hume tang karne ke sahastra tarike,"
"Suman's hair got pulled while she was sleeping, and she started crying; she is the one who makes me cry, innocent face, sparkle in eyes, and a thousand ways to trouble me," he explained in a low voice and immediately grabbed the bottle to spin it.
"Just wait and watch Abhinandan; you are gone," he said under his breath, and we all laughed, noticing the blush on their cheeks.
There was definitely something more.
The bottle spun, and I ate a nut, and it suddenly stopped at Aahil.
"Oh no," he whispered, and suddenly Jaan-e-Jahan straightened.
"I will make the guess," he said, and a wide smile appeared on my face.
I looked at Ruhani, already blushing, and Jaan-e-Jahan said.
"So, Aahil Miyan, I believe that you have definitely cooked something for Ruhani," he said, and the way Ruhani blushed and stayed silent, it seemed true.
Oh My God! Her husband even cooked for her? How romantic? They seemed the most romantic couple here.
"What did he cook for you, Ruhani?" Nandani asked with excitement, and Ruhani turned to look at her.
"A Sultanate," she replied, and my eyes widened with shock.
"Woahhh!" I could not stop screaming, and everyone looked at me. "That is lovely," I added, and Nandani replied.
"For real, he cooked a Sultanate. I appreciate that, Jijaji," Nandani said, looking at me, and I smiled in return.
I did not know why Nandani's husband stared at her for a few seconds before she rolled her eyes.
Although I loved this game.
"Alright, let's see who is next," Aahil said, grabbing the bottle, and this time the bottle stopped at Nandani's husband. He immediately looked away for a moment.
We all laughed.
"You cannot escape it, Rakshu," Haider said, and he immediately stared at him.
"Rudra, my name is Rudra," he clarified, and Abhinandan immediately shifted a little ahead, handing his glass of juice to his wife, who took a sip from it.
"I will make the guess of the century," he said and looked at Rudra.
"Me, too," Aahil also said.
"Just one of you," Rudra said, and I laughed a little.
"Yes, only one will guess, right, Haider Miyan," Ranvijay asked, and Haider nodded, taking another drag of Hookah. Ghazal was timidly sitting beside him, leaning her head against her shoulder, their hands intertwined all the time.
"Wait!" suddenly, I interrupted as I remembered something.
"We are playing this all wrong. We have to give the target an option to decide if it's truth or dare," I said, and everyone looked at me, and Abhinandan growled with frustration.
"Urghh, Mallika, you should have remembered it a little later," he said, and I chuckled.
"I am sorry," I said and noticed Jaan-e-Jahan looking at me with a slight smile.
"Alright, Rakshas, is it whispers of truth or shadows of dare," he asked, and suddenly everyone laughed so loud.
Agastya fell back, holding his stomach.
"Bhaisa, this is worse than Lullllllll, I swear," he laughed out loud. Seeing him, I also broke into laughter, although I did not understand a single thing.
Even Nandani laughed so loud, pushing Rudra away and falling to the floor.
"For God's sake, Haider Miyan, it's Rudra, R-U-D-R-A," he explained, and Haider knit his brows.
"Whatever," he said, "Just answer the question," he said, and Rudra replied.
"I do not trust you, people, with dare; you might ask me to wash the clothes, so whispers of truth,"
"Here we are," Abhinandan said with a winning smile and looked at Rudra with thinned eyes.
"So, I believe that Rudra behaves like a pet in front of Nandani when they are alone," he said, and we all laughed, looking at Nandani for the answer.
She immediately looked at Abhinandan.
"Well, that's a lot of confidence you have in your sister, Brother, but no, your best friend does not behave like a pet ever," Nandani clarified.
There was a winning smile on Rudra's face.
"Story!" Ranvijay immediately said.
"Story!"
"Story!"
"Story!"
"Story!"
"Story!"
We all yelled at them. I also yelled excitedly, and Nandani inhaled sharply.
"Fine, I will tell you the real story," she said, and I felt so invested right now. I shifted a little ahead, too.
But, suddenly, I felt Jaan-e-Jahan passing me the glass of juice, and I immediately looked at him.
The way he stared at me, I could not help but ask in a slow voice, only audible to him.
"Hum bhi aapka haath pakad le?"
"Can I also hold your hand?"
He sucked on his lower lip for a moment while raking his eyes around. And nodded slowly.
"Okay," he replied in a slow whisper, holding his hand out for me, and I immediately lowered my gaze, placed my hand in his, and gently pulled the comforter up a little to hide it beneath it. His long fingers curled around my palm. His skin felt warm, rough, and gentle. The touch felt soothing and comfortable.
"So, when we got married," Nandani began, and I looked at her to listen to her story, "Um, we kind of hated each other, as you might know," she said, looking at all of us, "So, when we stayed alone, we hated to even look at each other's face," she finished, and Rudra immediately chuckled.
And, the way he chuckled, everyone stared at her. She blushed all of a sudden.
"Well, I can bet my soul on it that this is not very much of you, Nandani," Ruhani said, and Ranvijay's wife added.
"I agree,"
"I agree," Agastya said as well.
"I will tell the real story," Rudra straightened and looked at us. Nandani stared at her with a flushed face.
"So, when we got married, she was super excited to be with me. But, yes, I hated her, so It was I who was not interested in talking to her, but she was always behind, Rudra this, Rudra that," he explained, and Ranvijay immediately looked at him.
"Seriously, Bhaisa, you and lying?" he asked, and we all laughed.
"Alright, move on," Nandani said, grabbing the bottle to spin it. Everyone got even more energized than before for the game.
She immediately spun the bottle, and this time, it stopped at Ranvijay.
"Oh my goodness!" he breathed out, and Haider straightened up to ask.
"So, whispers of truth or shadows of dare?" he asked, and Ranvijay looked up at the ceiling for a moment. While taking a drag of Hookah, his wife immediately said,
"Whispers of truth," she said, and suddenly Rudra said.
"Aishwarya, my child, I am so proud of you,"
Ranvijay looked at Aishwarya and nodded, speaking something through the eyes.
"Alright, so, by the face you have, I can tell that you suck your wife's feet," Haider's words immediately widened my eyes, and I looked at him.
"What the hell? Haider," Jaan-e-Jahan asked, and suddenly Aishwarya replied.
"No, he does not do as you mentioned," her words caught everyone's attention, and we all sang in unity.
"Story!"
"Story!"
"Story!" I said louder, feeling happier.
"Fine, fine, I will tell you what how welcomed me in his life," she said in her sweet, low voice and looked at Ranvijay with pure love.
They were really cute and lovely together.
I immediately looked at Jaan-e-Jahan, who was looking at me. The way his subtle green eyes pierced into mine, I could not help but lean my head against his shoulder and remember the day when we met.
"I love you so much," I breathed in a whisper and looked at Aishwarya, lowering her gaze and starting to say.
While Ranvijay pulled the comforter up to hide his face.
"So, when we got married, first of all, I did not meet Hukum before our marriage, and Devarsa came to meet me; I thought he was Hukum, and he asked me to do chores like message his feet daily, cook thrice a day, take care of his chamber, water the plants and all. And, I got so scared that I almost ended up crying," she laughed looking at Agastya, and his wife looked at him with shock.
"Then?" Agastya's wife asked, and Aishwarya replied, "Then, Hukum came and pulled his ear," she laughed, "He threw him out of the chamber, and the first thing he did was," she inhaled deeply, and I could not help but smile widely.
"What did he do?" Haider asked.
"Yes, what did he do?" Ruhani asked, too.
Aishwarya looked around and said with a blush, "He kissed my feet and said, 'Welcome to my life, Aishwarya,' and that was the moment I fell in love with him," she finished, and Nandani was immediately awed. We were all awestruck.
"Awwww," Ruhani said.
"I am proud of you, Ranvijay," Rudra said having a sip of juice.
"Bhabhisa, you got a goldmine," Agastya said, and Aishwarya smiled.
"That is really romantic," Haider said, and looked at Ghazal, "Right?" she nodded with a smile.
"Indeed," she agreed, and I could not help but inhale sharply, remembering the time when Jaan-e-Jahan came to meet me. I felt heaviness in my chest, recalling the emotional memories, and Jaan-e-Jahan muttered to me in a low voice.
"Are you crying? Bacha," his words made me look up a little into his eyes, and I shook my head when an emotional tear rolled down my cheek. I held his hand even tighter, and suddenly, he pulled my hand in his lap, and I felt his thumb gently caress mine.
A wide smile appeared on my face.
"Alright, let's move on from our little secret, right, Aishwarya?" Ranvijay immediately lowered the comforter off his face. His hair muffled across his forehead, and everyone laughed.
He spun the bottle, and this time, the bottle aimed at us.
"Oh, finally, the couple in the highlight," Haider screamed with joy, and I immediately straightened my head and pulled my hand back from his out of timidity.
"So, Rehman Bhaijaan, whispers of truth or shadows of dare," Aahil asked, and Jaan-e-Jahan smiled, inhaling deeply while seeming to be deep in thought.
"Um, there is no truth worth guessing, so shadows of dare," he said, and Nandani's voice caught our attention.
"I will give the dare," she stated, and I smiled, staring at her, wondering what she would say.
And suddenly, Ruhani pushed Aahil away a little and kneel-walked to talk and whispered something in her ear.
The way Nandani's lips spread wide, I could guess that something funny was coming in.
"Alright, so, Rehman Bhai-sa, I have a dare for you. Since your bride has just entered your life, we all want you to sing a loving Shayari for her," she finished, and my eyes widened with shock.
"Shayari?" I asked, and Jaan-e-Jahan shook his head.
"No, no, no, I do not know Shayaris and all," he said, and Ruhani shook her head.
"No, Bhaijaan, you have to do it; Bhabhijaan will give another dare to you," she said, and a wide smile appeared on my face.
I would ask for a kiss, a kiss for the whole night, to quench my thirst of seven years.
"Hahaha, Ruhani, I do not even know Shayari," he said, and everyone started cheering up.
"Rehman,"
"Rehman,"
"Rehman,"
"Rehman,"
"Rehman,"
"Fine, fine, fine, you all want to laugh on all, so be it," he said and inhaled sharply.
Everyone looked at us attentively, and I looked at Jaan-e-Jahan with a wide smile on my face.
There was a long pause of silence as if he was building up something. I was feeling excited; I could hear my heart beating loudly in my chest. Everything was making me nervous.
"All right," he finally breathed and sucked on my lips while turning to look at me.
My heart came into my mouth the way he looked at me. Soft gaze, hair falling on his forehead, his subtle green eyes sparkling differently under the candlelights, and he gulped slowly, staring at me.
The noise came to a halt; the surroundings suddenly felt hotter when he began.
"Kaali raaton me khwaab jesi hai, registaan me Gulaab jesi hai,"
"Wahh, wahh, wahh, wahh," everyone cheered up, and I blushed harder.
"Kaali raaton me khwaab jesi hai, registaan me Gulaab jesi hai,"
Hasti hai to dil me quayamat aa jaati hai, or jo thamm ke nazar mila le to,
Mehbooba hamari Mah-e-no, me bilkul chaand jesi hai,"
"On dark nights, she is like a dream; in the desert, she is like a rose,"
"When she smiles, it brings a cataclysm in the heart, and if she holds her gaze firmly,"
"My beloved is like the moon in the Mah-e-no (no moon night)," he finished, and I felt as if my heart had stopped beating.
My fingers froze, just staring at me.
"Kyaa baat hai, Bhaijaan, aaj laga di, aag laga di,"
"Woahhhh! Bhaijaan, you killed it, you killed it," Haider screamed, and I shivered at the loud voice and the way Haider jumped on Jaan-e-Jahan, pushing him back on the ground; I could not help but chuckle.
"Really, Bhaijaan, you nailed it," Aahil said, and I noticed everyone looking at him with shock.
"Very nice, I must say, I am impressed," Agastya said, and everyone nodded.
"That was really romantic," Nandani said, and a smile appeared on my face.
"Umm, I read it somewhere," Jaan-e-Jahan said all of a sudden, and my face immediately fell, almost touching the ground, finding the space to get invisible.
Why did he not make something of his own for me?
"Come on, do not lie; we know how much you hate poetry and romantic kinds of things," Ruhani said and looked at me.
"Do not believe him, Bhabhijaan," she said, and Jaan-e-Jahan immediately caught everyone's attention.
"Alright, let's continue," he said, placing the bottle in the middle and spinning it immediately.
