^Epilogue^
A/N If you just want to skip to the epilogue since imma discontinue this story, scroll down until you see the ***
This story is now DISCONTINUED, but I'm providing an epilogue to sum up what happens next so that there won't be any suspense, and you guys can see the idea of the story and what it should have been.
It's literally been almost 2 years since i've written a new chapter. I was wrote this story with an idea in mind but i got wrapped up in school and was unable to keep writing this story, which sucks 'cause i really enjoyed it. Time went on and I became less and less interested in this fandom. This story was written during the wait of season 2, which you guys know, was a long while. Since then, I haven't been able to keep up with the new episodes. I lost much of my enthusiasm when seeing them onscreen because I would be drowned in my work instead. I still love the characters and the show, but not enough to continue this.
Truthfully, I lost all inspiration in writing this story. I don't think I should continue this if I cannot write at my best. I was truly invested into the story, to be honest. Thank you for sticking around, even when I was unable to provide. Ah, also HAPPY NEW YEAR! I haven't updated since 2017 and it's 2019, I'm sorry. I'm sorry to everyone who actually wanted to read this. I haven't been able to go online like I use to and I truly miss all the friends I've made on wattpad. I miss having the time to write and being able to just enjoy being on this platform. But alas, life gets in the way and well, I can't really do anything about that.
Anyways, enough about that
HERE'S THE EPILOGUE:
***
This is set around when they are working adults. Time passed from their high school years and they somewhat lost contact as college students. Adrien does not bully Marinette and Marinette continues to live happy.
One night, Adrien goes out drinking with friends and once again reunites with Marinette. After seeing Marinette happy, he is then again reminded about how much sadness he felt about being isolated and alone and starts lashing out on her. Note that he is a bit drunk, but more or less sober. Alya defends her friend, but is pushed aside by Adrien. Marinette, having built up courage from the years apart, confronts him and tells him to stop with all this madness. He should grow up and realize that he should take responsibility for his actions. For all the years of torment she went through because of him and pain she had dealt with, she was able to become dependent on herself and was able to rely on her friends to help her along the way. After a meaningful speech, everyone decides they had too much to drink and go home. No one was really drunk but the tension was insanely heavy that they just wanted it to end.
Adrien reflects on what Marinette says for the next few months. It isn't until Lila leaves him (they were dating) that he realizes the reality of the situation. Lila explains how she shouldn't be treated as a second choice, and though she genuinely liked him, she doesn't think they are able to work out. She decides to move back to Italy.
Adrien finds himself alone once again and his instinct is to call Marinette, which he stops himself from doing. He finds himself thinking about this and concludes that he wasn't ready to let her go, since she was the last thing he had. Not romantically, but desperately not wanting to let her go because she was the only person he could rely on.
When Adrien realizes that Marinette is not the one to blame for all the shit happening in his life, he realizes how dependent he was on her. His immaturity and desperation for stability made him blind to this fact and he goes off in search to appologize to her. When he finds her, he finds out that she died after saving a kid from a car crash. He grieves for her death and isolates himself once again. Alya and Nino try to console him, but their efforts are futile. He continuously blames himself for not seeing through this fact.
As time passes, he tries to move on from all the unfortunate events in his life but fails. He is unable to feel anything and feels apathetic. He wonders what his life would be like if things played out differently. His regrets weigh him down and living just seems like a burden. He continues to live in his emotionless state.
Marinette. Her name in his mind. I'm sorry for what I put you through. He silently wishes to have never met her. So that she would be happy without him making her suffer. So that things could play out differently in his life too. So they can both reach a happily ever after. Under the light of a shooting star, he makes the wish, unbeknowest to anyone that it would come true.
Note that he didn't have any romantic feelings for her, just regrets for taking away her happiness. On the other hand, Marinette liked him but eventually got over him due to time. They considered each other just friends.
When he slept that night, he had a dream. Marinette came up to him and asked him if it was truly what he wanted. He smiled and said yes. That's when the memory of their first encounter is replayed, but instead of Adrien approaching Marinette, he doesn't.
The memory of their first encounter was Marinette was building a sand castle and a ball knocked it down. As the ball rolled away, instead of Adrien coming up to her and helping her rebuild it, someone beats him to it. Lila helps her rebuild the castle and they become friends. Adrien goes back to playing with his friends and their encounter never happens. (or something like that)
New memories flood Adrien's head, but do not replace the old ones. His old memories are vague, but still existant. This is because magic can only do so much. Probably should mention that Master Fu is the magical wizard who did this. This way, they can start to develop romantic feelings for each other in a new setting.
I was going to make another book which was the sequel to Regret which would focus on making them a couple, but now that this story isn't going to be continued, it was a waste.
The sequel was going to have Adrien and Marinette get closer to each other as they experience deja vu in different scenerios. They become a couple along the way. Marinette would start to remember her old life, but since she died in her old life, she would start to disappear. Which basically makes this story a tragedy. Anyways, Marinette remembers everything and disappears for good in which Adrien greives over. As they both remember what happened in their real lives, they both disgard all the fabricated memories they had in the past. The ones they made together, like being a couple and all that, aren't disgarded because they were aware of their actions there.
Anyways, as Adrien grieves over losing Marinette once again, he sees a kid about to get hit by a car. He saves the kid from the car crash but loses his life in the process. (ahem ahem basically this was the same kid Marinette saved but instead of Marinette saving him in this life, it was Adrien)
AND YEAH, happily ever after in the sky for the two of them.
So, how was it?
Did you like the idea I cultivated but never got to finish writing?
Sorry for not finishing the story, but I hope that makes up for it. Now you know how the story ends! All's well that ends well, right?
