Spring to Summer

Dante and Mook were both stuck in the dorm together once again. The only difference was that they were not the only ones. The rain was pouring hard, flooding the streets, so classes were cancelled until further noticed.

Mook decided to just watch television, purely out of boredom, as Gang Ho took his turn cooking. While Mook tried to find some sort of entertainment, he noticed Dante heading to his room with a piece of paper.

"Hey Dante, what do you have there."

Dante frowned and turned his back to Mook.

"Nothing."

Mook stared in shock as Dante slammed his bedroom door shut. He turned to Gang Ho, confusion covering his face. Gang Ho just shook his head and spoke up.

"What did you expect? It's been over a year and you're still neglecting him as a brother."

"But he's not my bro-"

"You just need to take some time to figure out what a true brother is. You can't keep destroying all of your relationships, Mook."

With that, Gang Ho went back to cooking. Frowning, Mook eyed the door once more before returning to his show. He couldn't concentrate though, the words of his mother and Gang Ho wouldn't allow him to.

Dinner was quiet that night. The three boys didn't know what to say to each other before they left for summer break. Trying his best to follow the words spoken to him, Mook spoke up.

"So, Gang Ho, are you going to be staying with your family again this summer?"

Mook and Dante both jumped in their seats and looked towards Gang Ho, who had dropped his fork. Avoiding the pair of eyes looking at him with concern, Gang Ho bent down and picked up his utensil. He stayed quiet for a while before finally speaking up.

"I will not be staying with them. I will not be staying with them because I have been kicked out by my father."

"What?"

"Why would be do that? Aren't you his only son?"

Gang Ho frowned as he began to explain what had happened over spring break. He explained how his racist father blew a fuse upon discovering that his son shared a dorm with two sea serpents. He told them how he made his father beyond furious when he defended the two serpents and claimed them to be his close friends. He recalled his mother's teary eyes as he left the house with all his belongings, his father slamming the door behind him.

Mook and Dante's moods and expressions grew more and more dim with every word. They silently agreed on a decision and looked up to meet the tiger's eyes. They have never seen their friend look so lost, broken and ashamed since they've met him.

"Gang Ho, we invite you to stay with us over the summer."
