Fourteen
Early update because I'll be busy at night. Also, if you got a notification about an update for chapter nineteen, ignore it. It was a mistake. Don't read it unless you want spoilers.
"Did you get run-over by a bus?" Lori questioned upon seeing Alex after homerooms were dismissed.
"Ha ha, very funny," the other girl replied sarcastically.
"But seriously, what happened to you?"
"She missed the bus," BamBam simply said, smiling widely. "And then it started to rain."
Lori couldn't hide a slight snort, earning a cold glare from Alex.
"Anyway, Mark said I should give you this," she handed Alex and envelope. "He also told me to tell you that he won't be in school today. Said something like he had to go to a doctor's appointment."
The latter simply nodded, taking the envelope and walking to her next subject. Physics.

"So, have you read the letter?" BamBam looked over her shoulder, nudging it slightly. "Is he asking you out on a date?"
"No and get lost, you little shrimp. Stop butting your head in my business," she half joked, half meant it. Whenever Mark claimed he had to go to a 'doctor's appointment' it only ever meant something bad happened and he didn't feel like going to school. The fact that he asked Lori to give the letter to her instead of directly giving it to her also worried her. He had to be going through something horrible, right?
The new kid, Jinyoung tried to keep his distance as he hang out with other people in the class. BamBam kept on walking up to him, asking him questions, walking back to Alex and 'updating' her.
Alex wanted to believe she couldn't care less about Jinyoung but something about him was just so flipping familiar. His dark hair, black eyes and warm smile. It all seemed as if she saw it all before.
She stared longer than she wanted to and soon he was staring back at her. In an instant, she turned back to the envelope and started peeling at the flap that was stuck down.
BamBam was back again telling her about how he used to be homeschooled and how their other classmates would give him numbers to add, subtract, multiply or divide and he would work it out using his brain.
Alex glanced up at the teacher who was dead asleep, drooling on their homework worksheets. She shivered before turning to BamBam.
"Go ask him what 552, 000, 000 divided by nine is. And get the remainder of there is any," she told him and soon the boy was off. Alex wasn't particularly interested in the whole fast metal maths thing, she just wanted to get rid of BamBam for the moment and she quickly ripped the envelope open.
Jinyoung was still watching her and she wanted to ask him to quit looking at her but didn't have the courage.
Alex, the letter wrote, I'm not even going to pretend I actually went to a doctor's appointment because I already know you know better than that. Last night I had a dream, no, memory, well whatever it is. I think it was of the past life you talked about. It was your funeral and none of your family came. No one came, in fact. It was just my family and I. When I woke up, I thought I saw a pair of eyes and a smile like you did and when I switched on the light there was a note on the floor. It said, and I quote, 'Humans are strange creatures. They are always warned about the past yet they always repeat it. Their lives are like a circle, never branching out or changing what has already happened before. Be careful. As I said, the past repeats itself. Keep her close. Leave the rest behind. Another thing to keep in mind is that not everyone is what they seem. ~J'. I think 'her' is talking about you and the rest is Lori, Jackie and Bam. I didn't come to school because I need to think. Maybe I'm seeing this all wrong. Could you stop by my house after-school? And don't let anyone see this or tell them about it. It's between you and I. Only. ~Mark
"So?" BamBam's voice echoed behind her. "Did he ask you out?"
"No," she shook her head, folded the paper, stuffed it back the envelope and then put the envelope in her bag. "He was just telling me about what he's going through. The doctor's appointment, remember?"
"So what's he going through then?"
"Apparently he was a weak heart. The doctor's have to figure out ways of making it stronger," she lied, faking a confused and sad face. She saw Jinyoung smirk in her peripheral vision.
"What?" BamBam shrieked. "He never told me about this!"
"Well, I've known him almost all my life and I just found out. Hope he'll be okay."
"Me too. Oh, and Jinyoung said the answer is 61, 333, 333.3 reoccurring. And he's right. We even checked using Billie's calculator."
"I swear he's a witch in disguise," Alex chuckled, making BamBam do so too.
"Should I tell him you called him that?" He teased.
Alex rolled her eyes.
"Do so if you want, I don't really mind."
