Flashback
(Reader POV)
I couldn't help falling asleep. I was comfortable, warm. It felt good, being so close to Leo. I felt bad about holding things back from him. For four or five months, it'd been how I felt about him. Then, it'd been how I'd gotten a centimeter long scar on the palm of my hand, you get the point. I also felt bad about lunging at Percy the night before. Kind of. No, not really. I thought about what Leo had said last night, 'Caelum denique.' I remembered telling him about it the day he'd finished the Argo II. The words also symbolized the day we got together.

Chiron had ordered a celebratory dinner, one day we could sit at whatever table. I had sat with Kyrie, Timea, Alayshia, Cheyann, and Dawn. After dinner, Leo pulled me aside, telling me to meet him at the beach in half an hour. As I made my way to the beach later, I was trying to calm myself down. I had kind of gotten myself worked up, thinking he'd most likely ask me out. I got to the beach, where Leo was standing underneath a tree. "'Bout time," he said as I walked over. "Drop the sarcasm. I'm on time. You're early," I'd said, smiling. He'd smiled before grabbing my hand. Shocks had gone up my nervous system and it took me a minute to figure out that he'd placed something in my palm. It was a watch, encrusted with topaz. I looked at him. "No. I-I couldn't," I'd stammered, holding it out in my palm. "You don't like it." Hurt glimmered in his eyes. "No, I mean, it's beautiful, but I couldn't take your watch." He shook his head. "It was never mine." I cocked my head. "What do you mean?" He folded my fingers over the watch. "I made it for you," he said, putting a hand on my cheek. "Oh," I said, slipping the watch on my wrist. I looked at him. "Thank you. It's beautiful," I said. "You said that already," Leo said. "Caelum denique," I muttered to myself. "What was that?" Leo asked. "Caelum denique. It means 'heaven at last.'" "'Heaven at last,'" he muttered. I nodded. "Heaven at last," he said again, his eyes brightening. He looked at me. "Heaven at last," he said. His face darted closer to mine, his lips pressing against mine briefly. When he pulled back, he muttered "I-I'm sorry. I-I didn't mean to," before turning and running into the woods.
I sat in the sand by the beach for a while, watching the waves distort the moon's reflection before heading back to the Poseidon cabin. I got there and lay on my bed, ignoring Kyrie's questions. Finally, she figured I wasn't going to answer and gave up. I lay on my bed, not bothering with my covers. I must've fallen asleep, because the next thing I knew, it was light outside. Kyrie was shaking me, trying to get me to wake up. I sat up before acknowledging what she had been saying. Apparently, I'd slept through breakfast. I stretched, the memories coming flooding back to me from last night. I touched my fingertips to my lips, wondering if it was true, that Leo had kissed me on the beach. I looked at my wrist, finding the watch there. As soon as I saw it, I knew that what happened last night was true.
It was time to board the Argo II, and Leo was the first aboard, checking the helm. I walked over to him, resting my hand on his shoulder. He glanced up, looking at me before turning away. "Hey," I said. He looked at me again, cautiously. "Are you okay?" I asked him. He nodded, looking away again. "Do you regret kissing me last night?" His head snapped up. "Wha- no! No!" "But you said--" "I say some weird things at weird times, in case you hadn't noticed." "Yeah, no, I noticed." "Then why--" "I say some weird things at weird times, in case you hadn't noticed," I said to him. "Yeah, that's funny. Quote me," he said, turning towards me. "I will. See you later," I said, heading to my quarters.
A couple hours later, Leo walked into my quarters as I was drawing in my notebook. He sat on the bed next to me, looking at what I was drawing. He touched the paper, running his hand along the blaze of the horse I was drawing. His hand moved down the blaze of the horse before moving up to my face. He traced my jawline, his fingers barely touching my skin, yet making me shiver. "Caelum denique. I love you," he said, slipping his hand into mine. I looked him in the eye. "I-I love you, too," I said, smiling. "Really?" He looked at me. I rolled my eyes. "Are you going to question everything I say?" I asked him. He smiled. "Maybe." I opened my mouth, about to comment, but got cut off, if you could say that. Leo leaned forward, his mouth crashing on mine. He pulled back, saying, "Caelum denique," before kissing me again.

I woke up from my dream-flashback, still being embraced by Leo. I pulled back slightly, looking at him before saying, "We'd better get to breakfast."
