Monkey Brains + Phoenix
*Izzy's P.O.V.*
"What you up to, Donnie?" Leo asked as he and the rest of us circled around Donnie and watched him draw lines to pictures. Donnie jumped in fright before sighing and continued drawing lines. "Just putting the finishing touches on my master plan." He answered as moved his ruler here and there as he used a black marker to draw the lines, while sticking his tongue out. "Master plan?" Raph asked with a frown. "Yeah, to get April to hang out with me." Donnie answered.
We all burst out in laughter as Donnie continued drawing lines. "Try this, "April, do you want to hang out with me?". " Leo said with a smirk. "You know, like how everybody else does." Jack said as Donnie continued drawing lines. "Yeah, you see, it's not that simple." Donnie said as he drew his last line, "I have to prepare for every possible response to maximize my chances of success." He finished as he picked up his chart and walked over to the whiteboard.
"Awe! That's so romantic!" Mikey said with a smile. "Not!" I said, getting a snicker from everyone, but Donnie didn't hear me. Donnie pushed the whiteboard to us and cleared his voice before he started explaining how the flowchart worked. "Yeah, for instance, if April says she can't because she has homework, then I will suggest an informal study session and serve healthy, brain-stimulating snacks." He said as he pointed at the flowchart with a stick.
"Well, what if she says she can't because you're a total nerd?" Raph asked as he and I stared unimpressed at Dork-a-tello's 'Master Plan'. "Ah! That's this thread here!" Donnie quickly answered and pointed on a other spot on the flowchart. "I will list my many non-nerdy qualities and suggest activities that will highlight my coolness, such as skateboarding or shark wrestling."
"Shark wrestling?" Both Jack and I asked in confusion as Jack scratched his head. "This century is getting weirder and weirder." Jack said as he stared at Donnie's flowchart with a frown. "Guys!" April called out as she suddenly entered Donnie's lab. Donnie screamed in surprise and quickly flipped the whiteboard multiple times, trying to hide the flowchart from her, before holding the board still when it ended on the Space Heroes 2 poster.
"Hey, hey, Ap hey, April." Donnie said as he tried to act cool, but just ignored him as she walked over to the desk and opened her laptop. "You guys gotta check this out." She said and started typing before opening a video. We all circled around her and started watching the video. "Renowned neurochemist Dr. Tyler Rockwell has been reported missing. I spoke with Rockwell's colleague, Dr. Victor Falco." The news reporter said before showing the scientist he was interviewing with.
"I hadn't heard from him in days, so I stopped by his lab. The place was a mess and he was gone. I fear the worst." Dr. Falco said in worry. "Police say they have-" The news reporter continued speaking but got interrupted when April closed her laptop. "So?" Raph asked as he looked down at April with his arms crossed. "So the Kraang have been kidnapping scientists from all over the city, including my Dad! Maybe that's what happened to this Rockwell guy." April answered.
"Or they may not be connected at all." Leo said as he looked down at her in thought. "There's only one way to find out. We should go to that lab and look around." April said in determination. "April's right! We should go check it out. What's that? You guys are busy? Guess it's just the two of us, April." Donnie suddenly said, catching us all by surprise before laying a hand on April's back and started pulling her with him out of his lab.
Before they exited out completely, Donnie turned to us as they walked and winked at us with a thumbs up. "I bet that wasn't on his flowchart." Leo said when they were gone and walked over to the whiteboard and flipped it over. "Whoa! It is! That is spooky." Leo said as he and the rest of us stared at the flowchart in surprise. "This guy seriously thought of everything." Jack said as we all studied the flowchart. "Only Donnie." I said as I frowned at the 'Masterplan'.
"Maybe he should make one for me for your dad." Jack said as he looked to me. "Help me prepare for anything when we go out for dinner." "Don't encourage Donnie with this flowchart thing." I said as glared at the idea of that flowchart. "What? It could help me with your dad!" He exclaimed as he smiled jokily to me. "Or it can blow up in your face." I stated as I crossed my arms.
Jack closed his mouth as he stood there in thought before shrugging with a nod. "You got a point." He said, making me nod in agreement. "Now come on!" Jack said as he picked me up bridal style. "Let's go crash Donnie's date!" He exclaimed and flew out of the Lair as I held on tight to him. "You know he's gonna throw a tantrum the second April's gone right?" I asked as Jack flew out. "Of coarse! That's what makes it fun!" Jack said as he laughed.
***
"There isn't an electronic lock out there my digital lock pick can't crack." Donnie said after unlocking the electronic lock. "Smooth!" April said impressed, making a Donnie giggle. "Cool digital lock pick!" Jack said from behind, surprising them both. "What are you guys doing here?" Donnie exclaimed through his gritted teeth as he death glared at us. "Oh, you know, we weren't busy anymore and decided to come join you guys and help investigate!" I said with a cheeky smile.
Donnie death glare deepened at us before groaning in frustration as April stood up and walked into the lab. "When this is over, I am killing you both!" Donnie said to us before walking after April. Both Jack and I looked at each other knowingly before we chuckled and walked after them. April and I took out our torches and looked around the lab as we lighted the place. "Wow, this place is a wreck!" Donnie said as we all looked at the room with concern frowns.
As I pointed a light to a direction, both April and I shuddered when we saw a big cage broken. "Ugh, he must have been experimenting on animals." April said as I shuddered again. "Well the poor thing! You can clearly see that it didn't like it in there!" I said and started walking again. "I hope whatever was in there has a better home now." Jack said as he continued looking around the lab.
"Either someone was up to some secret research, or they were renting space to one freaky dentist!" Donnie said as we suddenly saw a creepy metal chair that almost looked like a dentist chair with locks on it. "I'm so cancelling my dentist appointment now." I said as we walked over to the desk. Donnie picked up one of the papers on the desk and read it before putting it back and started opening the draws and searched through them.
But when he opened the bottom drawer, we all noticed a green glow. Donnie's eyes squinted at the glow as his hand moved over to the drawer and lifted up a board that was placed in there, revealing a hidden department. "Whoa!" Donnie said when we realized what the glow was. April went down and picked up it up as we all stared wide eyed at it, not believing our eyes.
"Mutagen!"
Donnie exclaimed as we stared wide eyed. April looked down at the canister in her hands before her eyes widen in fright when she looked up. "Donnie! Look out!" We all turned around and saw a man standing behind us with a golf club in hand. He raised it up and swung it down as he went in for the hit, but Donnie luckily had his bo-staff out already and blocked the attack. Donnie then used his staff to pull the man forward before throwing him to the ground and held him in choke-hold with his arm.
"Dr. Falco!" April exclaimed in surprise when we saw who the man was after she switched the lights on. "Ah! What are you?" Dr. Falco asked after he screamed in fear as he looked up at Donnie with scared eyes. "Relax! I'm not gonna hurt ya!" Donnie said as he stared down at the scientist. "You already hurt me!" He snapped as he glared up at Donnie, still in choke-hold. "I mean... anymore." Donnie said as he stood after releasing his choke-hold on Dr. Falco. "We're here to help." April said with a smile as Donnie offered his hand to help the scientist up.
***
After Donnie helped the scientist, we all introduced ourselves and told our stories and the reason why we were here. Unfortunately, but as we expected, Dr. Falco wasn't able to see Jack. "I'm sorry. I wish I knew something about your father, but I don't." Dr. Falco said to April, sitting behind the desk, after she told him about her dad that was kidnapped by the Kraang.
"So what can you tell us about this?" Donnie asked as he lifted the canister of mutagen. "Some shady corporate goon paid Rockwell a lot of money to experiment with it." Dr. Falco answered to Donnie as he place his hands together and place his elbows on the desk. "This the guy?" April asked as she showed him a photo of the Kraang on her phone. "That's him!" He answered as he nodded to the phone. "The Kraang!" I answered with wide eyes.
"Well, I wanted no part of that stuff. Who knows what kind of monstrosities could result?" Dr. Falco said before looking over to Donnie. "No offense." "Some taken." Donnie said as I shook my head at the word monstrosities. "Did Dr. Rockwell have a mutant or something?" Jack asked as he looked over to the broken cage. Dr. Falco couldn't hear him, but we could, so April repeated his question, but in her own words. "Is that what was in that cage over there? One of his monstrosities?"
"Can we ease up on the m-word, please?" Donnie asked as he glared in annoyance. "Yeah, that would be much appreciated." I said as I crossed my arms. "That's where he kept the monkey he was experimenting on." Dr. Falco answered as he looked over to the broken cage. A monkey? I thought to myself as I looked over to the broken cage. That must be some big and strong monkey then.
"Whoa. It sure didn't like being locked up in there." Donnie answered as he looked back to the cage. "Yeah, who would?" Jack said as he glared at the cage in disappointment, which I shared. No person or animal should be locked up in a cage and be experimented on, it's just not right. "I don't anyone or thing would like to be locked in a small tight cage." I said as I looked at the cage with disapproving eyes.
"Rockwell didn't treat it very well, or his bird." Dr. Falco answered as he also looked disapproving to the cage. "Maybe the Kraang didn't take Rockwell. Maybe the monkey went berserk, busted out of the cage, and dragged him off or worse." April said as she and Donnie looked to each other in worry. "You said he didn't treat his monkey and bird well, what bird and where is it?" I asked with a frown.
Dr. Falco stood up from his desk and walked over to the cage. He then placed his hand on the wall next of the cage, and suddenly a hidden door was opened. He looked over to us and waved his hand over to us to come over. We all slowly walked over to him and looked inside. Inside was a small, bright orange and red baby bird.
I stepped closer to get a better look, but quickly stepped back when a flame came at me suddenly. "Did that bird just fire?" April asked with wide eyes, along with the rest of us. Before Dr. Falco could answer, I looked inside and noticed a familiar look. "It looks like a phoenix!" I said with wide eyes. "A phoenix? But phoenixes aren't real!" Donnie exclaimed as he stared at the bird in disbelief.
"And ice dragons are along with fairies, elves and yetis?" Jack asked in sarcasm as he stared Donnie with a 'really' expression. Donnie shot him a glare before looking back to the bird, that seems to be a baby phoenix, a bird that can shoot and burst it self into fire.
"I thought so too until Rockwell this one." Dr. Falco said as he looked at the baby phoenix as well. "He looks scared." Jack said as he looked at the phoenix with a sad frown. "He looks hurt." I corrected as I noticed that the baby phoenix was hold his wing in a weird position, indicating that it's most likely broken. "It's wings is broken." I stated as I looked up to Dr. Falco.
"I know... I've been trying to fix it, but every time I come near it, it shoots fire at me." He said as he looked back at the phoenix with sad eyes. I looked back at the baby phoenix with sad eyes as well, before looking down at my right wrist when I felt the tattoo change. When I looked down, I saw my tattoo slowly change into a flame tattoo.
"Maybe I can help." I said as an idea popped in my head when I saw what tattoo I got. "I don't see how you can." Dr. Falco said as he looked at me with a frown. "Trust me, she has a way with animals." Donnie said as I slowly stepped closer to the cage again. The phoenix chirped in fear and tried to jump back when he saw me, but was blocked from the wall.
I slowly raised my hands up and moved even slower to it, but the phoenix only chirped more in fear before its body burst into flames. Instead of moving back, I formed a fire in my hand and showed it to the baby phoenix. The phoenix chirped in surprise at the flame in my hand and slowly calmed down, but still stayed back.
As its flames slowly disappeared, my hand moved closer to it, until it was just an inch away. I made my fire disappear and waited for the phoenix to do his next move. The baby phoenix chirped one last time, before slowly moving closer and rubbed his head against my hand. I smiled when I got its trust and slowly moved my other hand to him and softly petted his back with it.
Knowing that I had its full trust, I slowly moved my hands around it and lifted it up and pulled it out of the cage. "I can't believe it... You did it." Dr. Falco said in shock as he stared at me with wide eyes as I held the baby phoenix in my arms. I just smiled up at him and continued petting the fiery bird in my arms. "If you don't mind Doc, I think should take this baby phoenix and get him checked out by an expert." I said as I petted it softly on the head.
"You know someone who is an expert on phoenixes?" Donnie asked as he and everyone else frown at me in surprise. "Yeah." I answered as I carefully pulled the baby phoenix closer to me. "Well who is it? Who is this phoenix expert?" April asked as she frowned at in both curiosity and confusion. "Yeah..." Jack started off as he stared at me. "Who's this phoenix expert?'
"My dad."
***
"Are you sure that you're dad is an expert on phoenixes?" Jack asked nervously as we walked out of the building that the lab was in. "Of coarse I'm sure." I answered simply as continued petting the phoenix in my arms. "Yeah... but how sure?" He asked again, even more nervous. "My dad used to breed them before meeting my mom, if I remember correctly, he used to work with them for more than a hundred years." I answered without turning around to look at him.
"He's a phoenix breeder?" Jack asked in surprise and shock. "He was a phoenix breeder." I corrected as I continued walking as he followed after me. "But still a great expert on phoenixes." I added as I looked over my shoulder at him, and saw a very nervous Jack Frost. "Why are you so nervous?" I asked without stopping to walk. "Nervous? I'm not nervous!" Jack answered, even more nervous that previously.
"You're face says otherwise." I said as I looked back in front of me. Jack sighed slightly from behind me before running up and started walking next to me. "It's just that I've hadn't seen your dad since he forced us to break up." He said as he walked along side with me. "Yeah, but Dad changed his mind, remember? He told us we can be together again." I said as I stopped and turned to him.
"He told you that, not me." Jack said as he looked at me with his icy blue eyes full with fear, nervousness and worry. "You're worrying over nothing Jack. My dad's not going to do anything to you. You're going to be fine!" I said as I took his hand in mine, while holding baby phoenix in my other hand. Jack looked up to me nervously before sighing as he looked down to his feet.
"I don't know Izzy... Maybe you should go without me with this one. I'll just go to the North Pole and play with Blizzard." Jack said as he scratched his neck. "Nope!" I said as I smiled cheekily with an idea. "Sorry! Too late!" I added and tapped my foot twice on the ground, opening a tunnel under Jack's feet. Jack's eyes widen when he saw the tunnel and looked up to me in shock.
"Buckle up."
I said with a smirk and laughed when Jack fell into the tunnel, screaming. "IZZY!!" I laughed again and looked down at the baby phoenix. It chirped when he saw the tunnel and looked up to me with excited eyes. "Yeah buddy! We're going down the tunnel!" I said cheerfully to it and jumped down into the hole, cheering in excitement as I slide down the tunnel.
***
It wasn't long until we got to the Warren. When baby phoenix and I got to the end of the tunnel, I quickly jumped up and landed on my feet. Unlike my dear boyfriend, who landed on his back with a groan. "Buckle up huh?" Jack groaned out in slight pain as he shot me a glare, but I just smiled to him. "I should have seen that one coming." He muttered to himself as he stood up back on his feet.
"Yeah, you should have!" I said with a soft laugh as I walked over to him. "Although, I thought you could only do it on bunny or rabbit mode or whatever you call it." Jack said as he used his foot to pick up his staff and laid on the ground. Instead of answering, I just lifted up my right hand wrist and showed him my rabbit tattoo. "Oh."
"Easter Egg!" My dad called out as he hopped in. "Daddy!" I called back, handing baby phoenix over to Jack before running over to my dad and hugged him. Dad chuckled slightly and hugged me back before looking over my shoulder. "And Frostbite." Dad said with an emotionless voice. Jack gulped nervously as he held his staff in the one hand and baby phoenix in the other. "Hey Bunny..." Jack said nervously with a nervous smile, but Dad just kept his face neutral.
Before Jack could say anything else, Dad turned back to me and smiled as he brought me into another hug again. "What brings you two here?" He asked me as he looked down at me with our matching eyes. "This little guy." I answered and turned to Jack and pointed at the baby fire bird in the Winter Spirit's arm. Dad looked over to Jack as well with a neutral expression again before his eyes widen in surprise.
"Is that a baby phoenix?" He asked before hopping over to Jack and took the baby phoenix from him. "We think so," I answered as Dad checked out the phoenix. "We found him at a laboratory and he shot fire at us. Oh and his wing looks broken." I added as I watched my dad inspect the baby phoenix. "She." Dad suddenly said as he gently took ahold on the bird's broken wing. "She?" Both Jack and I said in confusion.
"This baby phoenix is a little Sheila!" Dad said before looking up to Jack. "Get that staff ready Frosty." He suddenly said to my boyfriend. Before Jack could question him, Dad suddenly moved the phoenix's wing in an angle, making a popping sound before the phoenix squawked in pain and shot a fireball out. Jack quickly reacted and blasted ice at the fire, killing it before it set the Warren on fire.
"There you go girl! You're wing was luckily just dislocated and not broken." Dad said to the phoenix as he slowly calmed her down. "Her wing wasn't broken?" I asked as I slowly walked over to him. "No, luckily not, it's hard to heal a broken phoenix wing." Dad said as he gently petted the baby phoenix. "She's still very young, too young to be away from het parents." He added before handing her back to me. "Where did you find her again?" He asked as he looked from the phoenix to me.
"In a scientist's lab. Some guy called Dr. Rockwell found her. He's missing now and his friend, Dr. Falco was looking after her. He said that Rockwell didn't treat her very well." I said as I started petting the phoenix. "Well, whoever this Rockwell guy is, he was a real dipstick!" Dad said before hopping over somewhere, probable to go get something. "Dipstick?" Jack asked me as he frowned at my dad. "It means fool or idiot." I explained before following after my dad. "Make sense." Jack said to himself before following behind me.
"Now!" Dad suddenly said as he turned around to face us with a whole load of things in his arms. "If you're gonna look after a phoenix, ye gonna need a few things." He said and placed the items in Jack's arms. "A few?" Jack said as he stared at the load of things in his arms that was more than a 'few'. "And here is the 101 book over how to look after a phoenix." Dad added as he walked over to me and handed over a book to me.
"Wait a minute..." I started as I looked up to my dad in surprise. "You expect us to look after the phoenix?" I asked him while he continued handing things over to Jack. "Well... you found her! Who else is suppose to look after her?" He stated with a chuckle and started handing more stuff to Jack. "I don't know a thing about looking after phoenixes!" I exclaimed as started walking after my dad when he started walking again.
"That's why I gave you the book!" He called over his shoulder as he continued moving. "It tells you everything about phoenixes and exactly how to look after them!" He added before handing something else to Jack. "Anything else you want to add to the pile?" Jack asked sarcastically with a groan as he held the heavy pile of items. "Sure!" Dad said cheerfully and loaded a small bed on top of things, making the load even heavier.
"A little advice to start with," Dad started off as he turned to me and petted the baby phoenix in my arms. "Give this little Sheila a name." He said as he smiled down at the fire bird. "And then... you can start with step one in the book." He added and started walking away. "What about Blizzard?" Jack asked as he and I watched my dad leave. "Won't he and the phoenix fight?"
"Only one way to find out!" Dad said before leaving the room, and just leaving us there. "See you guys tomorrow for dinner!"
***
"So, let me see if I got this right," Raph started off after Jack and I told him and the others what happened. "You went to the lab and crashed Donnie's date, found a real life baby phoenix there, took the bird to your dad, who apparently is a phoenix breeder, who also gave you somethings for the phoenix and now that thing is living with us?"
"Yep!" I said as I petted the phoenix. "Although Blaze isn't a thing. She's a beautiful fire bird!" I said as I brought her closer to my chest and hugged her, which she returned by rubbing her head against my cheek. "Blaze?" All three of my brothers asked while Jack frowned at me. "Yeah, Dad said to give her a name, and I named her Blaze!"
"But she's a girl. Isn't Blaze a boys name?" Raph said as he raised an eyebrow at me in confusion, along with crossing his arms. I shot him a look as I scratched Blaze on the head. "Isn't Spike a dogs name?" I questioned as I gave my twin a daring look. "Touché." He said with a smirk as the others chuckled at us while I smirked in victory.
"Come on." We all looked up when we heard April's voice and saw her carrying a beaten up Donnie. "Whoa, what happened?" Raph asked as we walked over to them. "Donnie got beat up by a lab monkey." April answered as she supported Donnie up by having his arm over her shoulders. We all looked at each other shocked before Leo and Jack walked over to April and took Donnie from her.
"April, can you get an ice pack?" Leo asked her before he and Jack started taking Donnie over to the couch and laid him down. "Donnie, you gonna be okay?" Leo asked our brother as Donnie silently groaned in pain on the couch. "Uh! Yeah." Donnie said with painful groan before continuing. "Yeah, I'll be fine." "In that case..." Leo started off slowly.
"Hahahahahahahaha!!!!!!"
He and everyone else, not including me, burst into laughter. They all laughed their lungs out while Donnie looked at them in embarrassment while I glared at them in disappointment. "You got beaten up by a monkey? In front of your girlfriend?" Raph exclaimed after catching his breath before laughing again. "She's not my girlfriend! And that monkey was a vicious mutant!" Donnie exclaimed as he glared at our brothers and my boyfriend, who was laughing along with them.
"Yeah, I'm sure he went bananas!" Leo exclaimed, making the others laugh even more and harder. "No, no, no, no, no! He went ape!" He added, making Mikey all down on his shell as he held his tummy with the laughs. "Monkey!" Mikey laughed out as he kicked his legs in the air while holding his belly. Both Donnie and I looked at them with death glares as they all continued laughing.
April then started walking in with an ice pack and glared when she saw the guys laughing at Donnie. Raph quickly noticed April entering the room and made a 'quit it' motion with his hand across his neck. "No more monkey puns." He quickly said as he and the others stopped laughing. April stood in front of them and shot them a glare before walking over to Donnie.
She sat down behind Donnie and pulled him gently down, so that his head laid down on her lap, and placed the ice pack on his head. Donnie smiled at her for standing up for him and chuckled slightly as he laid down on her lap. "Are you laughing at him because he's hurt?" April asked as she glared disappointedly at the guys. "No, we were laughing at him because he was hurt by a monkey!" Mikey exclaimed before he and the others started laughing again.
***
"I still can't believe that you and the rest of my brothers made fun of Donnie just because he got beaten up by a monkey!" I exclaimed as I looked at Jack disappointedly while I made Blaze's bed ready for her. "Come on! It was funny!" Jack exclaimed as he chuckled, but I just shot him a death glare. Jack's smile quickly disappeared when he saw my glare and nervously started scratching his neck.
"Okay, maybe we took it a little bit to far." Jack said as he slowly walked over to me. "A little?" I asked with an raised eyebrow, making Jack flinch slightly before sighing. "Okay, I'll admit! We took it to far." He said as he stood next to me. "I'll apologize to Donnie tomorrow or when I see him again today." He added, making me smile and looked up to him gratefully. "Thank you." I said and kissed his cheek.
Before he could say anything to me, a snow globe portal opened up in my room and Blizzard popped out of it before the portal closed again. "Blizzard!" Jack called out and picked up his pet dragon. "How are you boy?" He asked and started scratching behind the ear, making the baby snow dragon groan in pleasure, which caught Blaze's attention. She blinked a few times at him before squeaking in confusion.
This got Blizzard's attention. He looked over to Blaze and blinked a few times in confusion before yipping in excitement and jumped out of Jack's arms and run over to the baby phoenix. Before either Jack or I could catch him, Blizzard dived right on to Blaze and tackled to her to the ground. Jack and I run over to stop them, but the second we got there, we were surprised at what we were seeing.
Blizzard and Blaze playing.
We stepped closer to them and saw that the two baby creatures were playfully wrestling with each other. At the way they were playing, you would think that they were friends forever. "I think we can say that we won't have to worry about fighting!" I said with a chuckle, along with Jack as we watched our pet mythical creatures play with each other.
***
"Guys, I think I've found something." April called out after she looked up from her laptop. "These notes are hard to follow, but it looks like Rockwell was able to modify the mutagen." She continued talking as we all walked over to her to see what she found on her laptop. "Why would he do that?" Leo asked what we all were thinking.
"He thought he could use it to create a neurochemical that would temporarily give someone psychic abilities." April answered as she showed us Rockwell's research for us. "You mean that monkey was psychic?" Both Raph and I asked at the same time as we frowned in shock before looking at each other for copying each other. "I'll never get used to that." Jack said to himself before looking back to the laptop.
"It's more like he was reading our emotions." April answered as and looked over to Donnie. "After all, he was only hostile when Donnie was hostile." She added. "Yeah, well next time I'll be sure to think friendly thoughts while I'm beating a little sunshine into him." Donnie said as he punched his fist into his hand. "Happy thoughts always works!" Jack joked, making me chuckle.
"Okay, we need to track him down before he attacks someone else." Leo said, catching our attention. "Let's go up to the surface, spread out, and search." He said making us all nod in agreement. "How are we gonna stay in contact?" Raph asked, realizing that we had no way of communicating in long distances. "I have a little something that might help." Donnie said cheerfully as he stood up.
"Gentlemen, and ladies, I give you the T-phone!" Donnie said as showed us a phone that looked like a turtle shell. "Dude, I'm in charge of naming stuff. I would've called it the T-phone." Mikey complained as he pouted at Donnie. "I did call it the T-phone." Donnie said with a frown. "Yeah, but I would've called it the T-phone." Mikey pouted before screaming when Raph hit him behind the head with a rolled up comic book.
"And April, if you give me your cell number, I can patch you into our network." Donnie said as he handed the T-phone over to April. "Sweet!" April said and started typing her number in. "Ha! See that? I got her number!" Donnie said to Raph in an excited whisper shout. "Her number's on the fridge, you dork." Raph said while I rolled my eyes. "And if you really wanted her number, you could have asked me for it." I added, making Donnie facepalm himself in realization.
"Anyway! I got Jack his own version of a T-phone." Donnie said handed Jack a T-phone. His T-phone was the same shape as the others, but instead of a green shell, it was a dark blue shell, with light blue snowflakes along with smaller white snowflakes. "Wow! Thanks Donnie!" Jack said as he nodded to Donnie, who nodded back. "Now Izzy and I can chat whenever we want to!"
***
"Guys, someone just spotted the monkey on Bleecker." April said through her phone. "I think I'm on his trail." Raph answered through the T-phone. "Mikey, the monkey is headed your way!" Leo said after he realized where the monkey was headed. "I've got eyes on him! He's headed south on Delancey!" Raph said shortly after Leo spoke.
"I'm on Houston! I'll cut him off!" Donnie said and started following the monkey. "Where'd he go?" Donnie asked himself without realizing his T-phone is still on. "Wait, you lost him?" I asked through my T-phone. "He changed direction." Leo answered for Donnie. "Well, if I'm right, the monkey is heading Mikey's direction." Jack said through his T-phone. Waited for Mikey to comment, but it never came.
"Mikey, the monkey is headed your way!" Leo exclaimed through the T-phone after he realized that Mikey wasn't listening. "I'm on it!" Mikey quickly exclaimed before we heard him going after the monkey on his skateboard. But as soon as we heard the skateboard wheels rolling, we all heard as crash. "Sounds like Mikey lost the monkey as well." Jack said through the T-phone.
I was about to comment, but stopped when I saw a giant mutant monkey, that looked more like a chimpanzee to me, running down the street. "I got eyes on monkey! I'm going after him!" I exclaimed through my T-phone and started chasing after the mutant monkey. As I chased the monkey, he kept zigzagging from street to street, trying to get me off his tail, pun intended, but I didn't lose him like he wanted me to.
"Anybody see where he went?" Leo asked as we all ended up on a street. Yeah, I spoke to soon about not losing the monkey. As soon as he went around the corner, I lost him, and neither of the others had eyes on him. "I thought he headed off in that direction." Donnie said as he pointed to a direction. "I thought it was that way." Raph said and pointed to the opposite direction.
"Here, monkey, monkey, monkey, monkey!" Mikey started calling out while Donnie, Leo and Raph argued over which direction the monkey went. "I don't think the monkey is going to come out that way Mikey." Jack said as he looked at Mikey with a small frown. I was about to comment as well, but stopped when I realized our small group was missing a member.
I frowned slightly and turned around as I started looking for my best friend. As soon as I turned around, I gasped in surprise when I saw April standing in front of the very monkey we were chasing after. "Guys..." I called out silently to get their attention. They all stopped arguing and looked to me before looking to where I was looking.
The guys gasped when they saw what saw. Without a second passing, Mikey quickly got out his kusarigama and used it to catch the monkey. "Gotcha that time!" Mikey exclaimed, proud of himself for catching the monkey. "Great, we got the monkey. But we're not any closer to finding Dr. Rockwell." Raph said, having a good point. But the second he said Rockwell, the monkey screamed loudly at us and April.
"Actually, we're a lot closer than you think." April said suddenly while looking the monkey deep in the eye. "What? How?" Donnie asked what we all were thinking. "I think this is Dr. Rockwell!" April answered as she looked over her shoulder at us in shock. "Say what now?" I exclaimed as I stared at her in shock. "You're saying that mutant monkey is actually a scientist?" Jack asked as he stared at the monkey in surprise.
"I don't know how to explain how I know, but I strongly believe that this is Dr. Rockwell." April said as she pointed at the mutant monkey, who is apparently Dr. Rockwell. "Okay, if this is really Rockwell, how did he become a mutant monkey?" Raph asked as he crossed his arms. "The mutagen must have fell on him by accident after he handled with his monkey." Leo said as he looked at Rockwell.
"We should maybe take him back to his lab. Maybe Dr. Falco can help him." April said as she looked down at Rockwell with sorry eyes. "Good idea April," Donnie said before walking over to Rockwell. "Guys, help me out over here." He said and went to pick him Rockwell, but the mutant scientist monkey started screaming again. "This is gonna be a long trip." I muttered under my breath as I flinched when Rockwell screamed again.
***
"There. That should calm him down a little. Poor Rockwell." Dr. Falco said as he gently rubbed Rockwell's head. After we brought Rockwell to the lab, Falco told us to place him in the dentist chair and Falco gave him a sedative to calm Rockwell down. "Is there any way to get him back to normal?" April asked as we looked to Rockwell, who was busy sleeping. "I wouldn't even know where to begin. But I'll see if there's a way to give him some semblance of a normal life." Falco answered while rubbing his friends head.

"Man, this asteroid field is tough. I just can't beat it!" Mikey said, while playing games on his T-phone at the kitchen table. "Pizzas here!" Raph called out as he entered the kitchen with two boxes of pizza. "I got for Blizzard and Blaze a kiddies pizza." Raph said to Jack and I, while we had our pets on our laps, and handed a pizza box over to us. "Thanks Raph!" Jack said as he opened the pizza box and took out a slice of pizza for Blizzard. Raph placed the other pizza box next to Mikey and opened the box.
We all took a slice and started eating. Mikey was so busy with his game, he didn't even see the pizza, but after five seconds, the smell of pizza hit his nose. "Mmm!" Mikey said as he got wide freaky eyes. "Must eat pizza. But can't stop playing. But must eat pizza. But can't stop playing! But must eat pizza!" Mikey exclaimed as he moved back and forth from the pizza and his T-phone, before screaming and faces lammed into the pizza box and grabbed a pizza with his mouth.
We all stared at Mikey with wide eyes before shaking our heads and continued doing what we did previously. "Sorry we didn't get any closer to finding your Dad, April." Leo said as he looked over to April who was sitting next to him. "It's okay. Everything we learn about the Kraang is another piece of the puzzle." April said as she laid her arms on the table. "Yeah, but psychic research? This is one weird puzzle." Leo said as Sensei walked into the kitchen and got his own slice of pizza.
"Your telling me." I said to Leo and gave Blaze her own slice of pizza. "I am curious, April. How did you know the monkey was really a human?" Sensei asked as he stopped in front of April. "Yeah, how did you know?" Jack asked as he gave Blizzard another slice of pizza before grabbing his own. "I don't know. Sometimes I just get a feeling about things." April answered as she laid down on the palm of her hand. "A feeling? Hm. Interesting." Sensei said before exiting the kitchen.
"Hey, Donnie, how come you're not eating?" Leo asked after he realized that Donnie wasn't eating. "What? I'm not hungry." Donnie said as he waved his hand no without looking away from his laptop screen. "That's a first!" I said in surprise as we all stared at him in surprise. "Something's been bothering me. Falco said that Rockwell was experimenting on a monkey." Donnie said as he stared at the laptop screen. "And?" Leo asked with a frown.
"Well, according to these notes, he never had a monkey in his lab. He was just using samples of monkey DNA." Donnie answered as he looked up from his laptop. "We're still not following you." Leo said as he frowned at Donnie. I was frowning as well before my eyes widen in realization. "I follow! That cage!" I exclaimed and looked to Donnie, who nodded in agreement. "If he never had a monkey, what broke out of that cage?" Donnie asked with a knowing answer.
"It must've been Rockwell!" Raph said in realization. "Which means Falco put him there and he's been lying this whole time!" Donnie exclaimed as he glared in irritation, which we all soon shared. "Yeah, and now we just handed Rockwell over to the very guy he was trying to escape from." Jack said as he shook his head in disappointment. "We better go save him!" I said quickly and got up from my chair. The others nodded in agreement and followed after me as I left the kitchen.

We got as quickly as we could to the lab and charged right in. "All right, Falco! We've had enough of your-" Leo started saying, but got interrupted by Raph. "Do not say 'monkeying around'." "I wasn't going to." Defended himself, but we all knew he was gonna. "Yes, you were." Falco said as he walked over to us and smirked at us evilly.
"It's over, Falco! We know it was you who mutated Rockwell!" Donnie exclaimed as he glared at the scientist. "I used him as a guinea pig." Falco said as he looked over to Rockwell and chuckled evilly. "Well, it didn't work. You turned him into a monkey." Mikey said as he glared at Falco. We all looked down at Mikey with slightly annoyed faces, but Mikey didn't even notice them.
"The psychic neurochemical I extracted from his mutant brain, is changing me. Your minds are opening up to me!" Falco exclaimed, catching all of our attentions as we glared at him again. "So this was your plan all along." Donnie said as his glare deepened at the scientist. "Of course. No man can defeat you when you know his every thought." Falco answered as his evil smirk got more evil.
"Oh, really? Then you must know I'm gonna smack-" Raph started saying but got interrupted by the scientist. "Smack the white off my lab coat? How humorous!" We all looked surprised for a split second before we all death glared at him. "Lucky guess!" Raph exclaimed and charged right at Falco and went to kick him with a spinning kick, but Falco moved out of the way, as if he really did read my twin brothers mind. "Did he actually just read Raph's mind?" Jack asked me in shock.
"What?" Raph asked in shock as he stared at Falco with wide eyes. Falco just smirked and made a 'come here' motion with his finger. Raph growled in anger and charged at Falco again, but every time he kicked or punched, Falco was able to move out of the way. Raph stopped to catch his breath, which made Falco chuckle before he wagged his finger 'no' at my twin mockingly. This anger my brother more and he charged again, but Falco just moved out of the way again, but this time, he grabbed Raph's sai.
Before Raph could even do anything, Falco used the sai and hit Raph the head, knocking him down. Raph went to stand up, but Falco kicked him in the chest, which send him flying into us, and knocked him out. "Raph!" I exclaimed as I grabbed my twin's shoulder and shook him, but he was unconscious. I looked up and shot a death glare at Falco, but he was to busy moving out of the way from Leo's katana blades, reading Leo's every move.
"Whoa! It's like he's psychic!" Mikey said as we all stood back up. "He is psychic, shell brain! That's what he just said!" Donnie said as he looked at Mikey slightly annoyed. "Oh, yeah, I kinda tuned out when he did his whole 'I'm evil, blah, blah, blah' thing." Mikey said as he waved his hands around. The rest of us just shook our heads at Mikey before looking back at Leo, who was still trying to get a hit on Falco, but the scientist kept moving out of the way.
"He might read your minds, but he read mine." Jack said as he got his staff ready in hand. "What do you mean?" I asked as I frowned at him. "Falco couldn't see me before, that means he's not a believer. If he can't see me, he can't read my mind." Jack stated as he waited for the right moment to jump in and help Leo. "That can actually give us an advantage." I said while Donnie nodded in agreement.
Jack went to jump in to help Leo, but before he even could, Falco used the sai he grabbed from Raph to stop Leo's katana blades. He pulled the blades out of Leo's hands and threw them to us. "Watch out!" Jack cried out and tackled me out of the way while Mikey and Donnie jumped out of the way. We all got back on our feet and looked up, only to see Falco knocking out Leo with the sai.
"How are we going to defeat him if he can read our minds?" Donnie asked us as he looked at Falco with a slight worry. "No prob. I'm good at this. I just have to fight without thinking!" Mikey said confidently, before his eyes widen in worry. "Wait a minute, how do I fight without thinking?" He exclaimed as he started panicking. "Oh, no! Now I'm thinking about not thinking!" He exclaimed one last time before getting knocked out from behind by with Raph's sai.
"A man who can read minds is unstoppable. Once I dispose of you, no one will be able to stand in my way." Falco said as he walked closer to us. "We'll see about that!" Donnie said as he took out his bo-staff and stood in fighting stance, while I took out my kama and stood in fighting stance as well. Before Donnie and I charged, Jack jumped in front of us and shot a blast of ice at Falco. But, like the previous fights, Falco just moved out of the way as if he already saw it coming.
"Good try Jack, but not good enough." Falco said as he smirked evilly. "You can see Jack?" I asked in shock. "How?" Donnie asked while he and Jack stared shocked at the evil scientist. "Thanks to you two." Falco said as he waved his hand to Donnie and I. "Donatello was thinking about your advantage with Jack, and you Izael, when you're not thinking about the battle, you're thinking about your dear boyfriend." Falco answered as he smirked evil.
I mentally kicked myself for giving Jack away. We had an advantage against Falco, and both Donnie and I blew it up. "You may see me now, but that doesn't mean that I can't beat you." Jack said as he charged at Falco, along with Donnie and I following after. We all attacked at once, but Falco was able read all of our minds, and was able to move away from all of our attacks.
Jack went to blast ice at Falco, but the evil scientist just moved out of the way, which caused the ice to hit me. I screamed in pain as my back hit the wall and my leg frozen against the wall. "Izzy!" Both Jack and Donnie cried out in worry. "My leg!" I cried as I grabbed onto my right leg and tried to break the ice off. Jack was about to run over to me, but got knocked out from behind by Falco. Donnie looked repeatedly over from me to Jack, not knowing what to do.
"Get Falco!" I exclaimed through gritted teeth. "I'll be fine!" I added and started heating my hands up. I had a fire tattoo, so luckily I can melt the ice of my leg. Donnie quickly nodded to me and charged at Falco again. Donnie tried to hit Falco with his bo-staff, but the stupid evil scientist just kept dodging and moving out of the way before Donnie could hit him. Falco went to attack back by throwing the sai at Donnie, but he blocked it with his bo-staff.
Donnie went to strike at Falco again, but Falco just grabbed the bo-staff and threw Donnie into the wall. "Donnie!" I called out in worry and tried to get out of ice. "I really must admire that complex brain of yours. You come up with so many ideas. Too bad I can see them all coming." Falco said as he smirked evilly at Donnie. "By the way, do you really think you have a chance with April?" He asked Donnie, smirking even more with the knowing that he hit a soft spot.
Donnie looked at Falco with hurt full eyes before looking with his eyes closed and his fists slightly raised up. "I can do this. Just have to fight without thinking. No thinking. No thinking." Donnie muttered to himself, trying to self encourage himself. But Falco just chuckled as he watched Donnie. I glared at Falco a death glare before looking over to Donnie again. "Don't think. Just do." Donnie whispered to himself before looking back up with a smirk and charged at Falco.
Falco sneered when he saw coming at him, but his sneer soon disappeared and turned into a look of fear. Donnie kicked Falco in the face and then in the chest, sending the scientist into the wall. Falco groaned in pain before he crying out a battle cry and charged at Donnie. Before he could even touch my brother, Donnie tripped him and then sucker punched him before kicking him from behind into the desk.
The scientist breathed deeply as he tried to catch his breath before charging at Donnie again, and went in for a punch. But Donnie jumped up and backflipped over Falco. He landed against the wall, then pushed his feat against it to boost himself to Falco, and repeatedly punched Falco in the chest, sending the scientist into the ferry cage he locked his mutant monkey friend in. Falco groaned out in pain before going unconscious.
"You did it Donnie!" I cried out, finally getting out of the ice and run over to Donnie and hugged him. Donnie chuckled and hugged me back. " Whoa, Donnie, nice work!" Raph said as he and the others walked over to us. "Ha! What'd I tell you about those back flips, huh? Pretty cool!" Mikey asked as he looked at Donnie excitedly while holding mutagen ooze in his hands that belonged to Falco. "Now that we have the ooze, let's see what Falco knows about the Kraang." Donnie said and looked over to Falco with the rest of us.
But the second we looked over to him, we all gasped. "Falco's gone!" Donnie exclaimed as we all run over to the now open cage and with Falco no where in sight. "How did he just disappear?" I asked as we all stared at the cage in shock. "Don't worry, we'll get him next time." Jack said as he laid his hand on my shoulder. I nodded softly in agreement, but still felt disappointed at losing Falco.
"What do we do about him?" Mikey asked after looking over to a now awake Rockwell. Instead of answering Mikey, Donnie just walked over to Rockwell and unlocked the restrains from him. Without a split second, Rockwell jumped out of the chair and run over to the window. He opened the window and was about to jumped out, but stopped and looked over to us.
"I'm no psychic, but I think he's trying to thank us." Donnie said as he looked to the mutant monkey with a smile. "I agree." I said with a smile. Rockwell gave as a last look and then jumped out the window. "Um, if he reacts to angry thoughts, is New York city really the best place for him?" Raph asked, making my eyes widen in realization. "Uh oh..." I said in slight worry.
Not even a second later, we heard car wheels stopping and horns blazing. "Hey, monkey! Get outta the-" A man started yelling in anger before screaming in fear when Rockwell started attacking. "I'm sure he'll be okay." Leo said before we all flinched when we heard more screaming and crashing. "Yeah, but what about New York?" I asked before flinching again when we heard another crash.

"Hey, April, you, uh, wanna hang out tonight?" Donnie asked April as she walked past us. "Look's like he's following your advice." I whispered to Jack as we watched Donnie and April. "That sounds great, Donnie, but I can't. I'm training with Splinter to be a Kunoichi." April answered as she gave Donnie a small 'sorry' smile. "Ouch!" Jack chuckled as he laid his arm behind me.
"Oh." Donnie said before moving his head inside in his lab to check something. April frowned at this and went to look at what he was looking at, but before she could, Donnie moved back and looked to her with a chill smile. "Ah! Well, then, maybe we can train together sometime." Donnie said as he laid against his lab door like a cool dude. "Sounds great!" April said cheerfully before walking again.
The second April was out of ear shot, Donnie started cheering and dancing. "You see?" He asked as he danced. "My flowchart is awesome! Ouch!" He cried out cheerfully and excitedly. "Oh, flowchart." Jack muttered under his breath as he rolled his eyes, along with Raph and I.
