Red Eyes
Late at night, a bad vibe struck,
Worse things expected with fools' laughter.
Brushed it off, thought it couldn't be real,
Woke up summoned, faced a heavy ordeal.
There you were, on the street,
Couldn't believe it, denied in vain.
Gone forever, a genuine loss,
Small in size, part of our family gloss.
Funny red eyes, a sight now ceased,
Won't see them again, a joy released.
Wishing I'd spent more time with you,
Intelligent and ignored, a truth undue.
Cried when you left, genuine pain,
Didn't cherish you when you were still there.
Left with the opposite you, a repeating theme,
Not meant for your kind, it would seem.
No responsibilities, no true care,
Alone, expressing, wondering in despair.
Maybe someday I'll seek redemption,
Till then, I'm here, a solo reflection.
