Max had been pushing you away and you didn't know why until one day in the middle of the afternoon she came knocking at your door in the rain.

You went over and opened the door, revealing max who stood out wearing a raincoat. You didn't really care much but of why she was here.

"Hey....can we talk?" She tried her best keeping her eyes open but with all the rain, it was quite difficult.

"No...." Even though you were pissed at her you still wanted to know what she had to say, "But go ahead."

"I know you're pissed at me cause I've been pushing you away but I have reasons." She paused for a second, "Something has been happening with me lately and I just—"

"You couldn't come to me?" You exclaimed.

"There are just certain things I can't say. I want too but I just can't." Max tried to explain.

"All I hear is more lies, blah blah blah and more lies. When you're ready to tell the truth you know where I am. Oh and don't be a cliche." You slammed the door in her face.

After you slammed the door in her face, it took her a second to understand what you meant but once she looked up at all the rain, it was quite clear. The whole standing in the rain and confessing your feelings trope.. . she didn't mean for that to happen.
