You two sat at a table in the corner with Mike while Lucas ran off somewhere real quick. Max and you kept eyeing each other the whole time and sent each other cute, small smiles. You thought she looked pretty. You also thought at least one of you would ask the other to dance but only if you knew how wrong you would be.

As you two continued to smile at each other, Lucas popped out of nowhere.

"Max?" He stood in front of her, flattening his suit.

"Yes?" She gave him a questioning look.

"D-do want to dance?" He stammered a bit, you could tell he was nervous and that was a giveaway that he liked her too.

"Sure." She happily got up and followed him to the dance floor. It was so quick and she looked happy. It's like you got it all wrong — you felt as if you did. But what happened next, it was definitely confirmation that you got it all wrong. He kissed her and she kissed back. Your heart just melted.

As max danced with him, he then spun her around and her eyes met you. Max saw you talking to someone who wasn't Mike or Dustin. It was a random person and maybe she felt jealous because you were laughing or maybe she was happy you weren't sitting alone anymore.

She wasn't sure . . . . she just felt this need to be close to you.
