Chapter 2: Who Can Help?

-Erik P. O. V.-

"So, now what's the plan?" Meredy asked Jellal.

"We need to take down Zenmen Hakai." He answered.

We had built a fire for the night in a small clearing. Jellal had crumbled up the Twisted Wings paper and threw it into the fire, but not before Meredy tore her little cat scribble out of it.

"I know that, but we can't face them alone." I replied, leaning against a tree.

"What do you mean? We have to face them alone. Nobody would help us." Sawyer complained, lying in a makeshift hammock he set up between two trees, made of branches.

"That's wrong, Sawyer. We got an ally." Meredy said.

Jellal and I looked at her. "No." We said.

"Come on, boys, don't be so grumpy." Sorano said, lying in a bush.

"We can't ask them for help, they walk in the light." Jellal complained.

"For once, I agree with Azure." I chuckled.

He glared at me before Meredy spoke again.

"They helped us, before. During the Grand Magic Games. If I recall, we employed them and they fully agreed to help us."

"Are you talking about Fairy Tail?" Macbeth said, awake for once, his head using a log as a pillow.

"Oh, our friends at Fairy Tail? What a lovely idea! They'd gladly help us! Especially that flame wizard if he hears about how powerful they are. He'll practically beg us to let him fight them!" Richard cheerfully added, sitting cross legged on a log.

"I'm the master of this guild, and I say that we can't go to them." Jellal said.

"Since when were you the master?" Macbeth said.

"Yeah, I could lead these guys as much as you could!" I said, enjoying this.

"Why not let a lady run things?" Sorano taunted.

"Let's just say that we don't have a master." Jellal conceded. "We still can't go to Fairy Tail."

"Why not?" Meredy asked. "And don't give us all that light and dark crap, give me an honest answer why."

"Because they won't go out of their way to help us, and it's illegal for a legal guild to do what independent guilds do." Jellal answered firmly.

"Erik, what's he really thinking?" Meredy snapped her attention to me.

"He's doesn't want to go to Fairy Tail, because the guy mentioned a requip mage, and thinks that you guys will want Erza to come because she's one of the best requip mages in Fiore." I replied, smugly.

"Shut up, Erik." Jellal groaned.

"I still think Fairy Tail's our best bet." Sorano said. "I remember that little girl they got, Wendy I think, who has the healing magic. Karasu said we'd need a medical training professional.

"And they got that Gray bastard that beat me!" Sawyer said.

"That covers our ice-make wizard, Wendy covers healing, and Erza can be our requip mage! How about it, 'master?'" Meredy said, adding sarcasm on that last word.

Jellal sighed. "Fine. We'll go to Fairy Tail."

"Yay!" Meredy cheered!

"We'll go in the morning. We sleep now."

"No need to tell me, twice." Macbeth instantly fell asleep.

Sawyer closed his eyes in his hammock as Jellal and Meredy laid on the ground in a pile of leaves.

Richard did the same, but in a different pile, being a bigger guy.

"Boys." Sorano complained.

"Still up, Sor?" I asked.

"Yeah, I wanted to ask you something."

"What, you're grilling me this late?" I shrugged.

"Jellal didn't want to go because of Erza. What was your initial reason for saying no?" She inquired.

I was caught a bit off guard. "I think you know. I told you before we joined up with Pinky and the Azure."

She chuckled. "Yeah. You did. You really that worried about that Kinana girl?"

I nodded. "The last time we met, Lahar arrested me before we could finish."

"Oh, and once you join back up, she'll be the one finishing you off.~"

"Shut up."

"Fine. But remember. Macbeth and I. We're looking out for you. Night, snake." She went to sleep.

I decided to follow her example. I sunk down until only my upper body was leaning against the tree. I closed my eyes.

That night, I could only see her in my dreams.

I want her back.

-Erza P. O. V.-

"So, you'll be gone for how long?"

"Three days, at least." Gray answered.

It was late, but I was at the guild because my team wanted to spend a day saying goodbye. They now stood in front of me. Natsu, Lucy, Gray, Wendy, Happy, and Carla. They found a job request and want to go. But, I can't. They'll be going somewhere I'm not allowed to go, because I've been banned from the town. Just because I ended up destroying one measly little giant mansion.

"And when you return?" I continued.

"We'll have the biggest strawberry cake ready for you!" Lucy said, cheerfully.

"Good. And what will you destroy?"

"Nothing more than three houses!" Natsu said.

Lucy hit him on the head. "Idiot. Correct answer is nothing." She sighed.

"Well, good luck. I hope you guys come back safe!"

"Don't worry, what could happen in three days?" Natsu said.

My friends left, Gray punching Natsu for jinxing the mission.

I walked over to Mira and Kinana, cleaning up the bar.

"So, I suppose you'll be free until they come back, Erza?" Mira questioned.

I shrugged as I leaned against the bar. "I guess. Unless something important happens."

"Well, I think something might." Kinana smiled.

"What makes you say that?" I asked.

"I had Cana read my fortune this morning, and she said that I'll be going on an important mission, soon! I'm glad, because Wendy and Porlyusica have been teaching me healing magic. I thought it would come in handy, since I don't go on any jobs. I guess it will!" Kinana was her usual bubbly self.

"Well, maybe. You really believe in Cana's fortune telling?"

"I heard that, Scarlet!" the drunken girl was sleeping at the bar, too tired to fight.

"Well, maybe she's right, Erza. Fate can be unpredictable. I mean, remember what happened during the Grand Magic Games? We ended up helping an undercover investigation into Zeref!"

Mira's words had me thinking. During the Grand Magic Games, we helped Crime Sorciere investigate the games for signs of Zeref, which brought us to a few old friends.

I remember that night. Jellal and I. We fell down that hill, nearly kissed, then lied about a fiance.

Idiot. I was looking forward to that kiss.
