Chapter Nine

A silence was placed across Konoha, a woman walking with her two daughters to a restaurant since they would both be leaving on a mission. With a sigh, she pushed open the door, her black eyes sliding around until they landed on the small group in the corner.

The two girls with the woman took off instantly, smiles adorning their faces as they tackled the blond in the middle and carried on to squeeze the four year old girl on the males lap.

A short laugh came from the brown-haired woman sitting next to him, rubbing the head of one of the girls who had crushed her husband in a hug.

"Asuna, Rika, I see you both have grown."

"We have? I'm almost twelve now Yumiko-neesan!" Rika shouted, a smile adorning her face as Asuna nodded along, agreeing with everything her step-sister had said. Madoka laughed as she smiled at her two daughters, nodding.

"I'm gonna be 15!" Asuna chimed in, finally letting go of Shun and moving to give a gentle huge to Yumiko, being careful of the small baby bump that the older women had coming out of her dress.

"Oh really?" Yumiko grinned, her eye shifting when she noticed both girls had their forehead protector's tied in matching ways around their neck. Yumiko wasn't proud of this and Madoka could tell, the mother of the two quickly swooping into action.

"Okay you too, let's sit down and eat!" Madoka then glanced at where Shun sat, sitting across from him. "Is Akira going to be joining us? This is a get together after all."

Shun shook his head, carefully handing Aoi a glass of water and helped her drink from it. "No, he said he ad some important business to take care of -- urgent mission or something."

Asuna chimed in then, leaning forward across the table as her eyebrows knitted together. "Does Akira have a daughter?"

Shun couldn't contain the snort that come from his nose as he thought about it, choking on the water he had in his mouth. "No, no! Akira won't even go within a ten foot radius of girls, no way he'd have kids."

Asuna tilted her head, tappng a fingernail against her cheek. "I saw him walking around the village with a little girl the other day though! She couldn't have been more then two years old."

Shun frowned, shaking his head once more. "He probably was babysitting for a mission or something. Just because he's in the ANBU now doesn't mean he won't get little missions like that,"

Madoka nodded, putting a piece of meat on the grill that sat in front of them. "He's right. Now hurry up and eat you two or you'll be late for your mission! Asuna, you're a chunin now so you have to be in tip top shape! That Itachi Uciha will be passing you up soon and he's younger, ya know!"

Asuna pouted as she glanced at her mother, nodding her head as she started to eat. She hated leaving the village for missions and she knew she wasnt going to like this one. She didn't get along with her teammates very much. She wished she could stay in the village and get a simple mission -- like her sister, Rika, had.

"Do I have to go mom?"

Madoka nodded her head, stuffing her face with meat as she helped Rika at the same time.

Shun was cutting up pieces of meat for Aoi as Yumiko made her meat along with Shun's, a small smile on her face as she thought about how fast all the children were growing. Aoi was now four years old and soon enough, she would be having another child.

She just wasn't sure if she could handle it.

Madoka waved goodbye to the couple and to Aoi as she grouped Rika's hand, watching as Asuna walked ahead of her slightly. It was seemingly quiet as she reached the entrance of the village, Madoka quickly giving Asuna a peck on the forehead as  Rika hugged her sister.

"I love you so much, Asuna! I'll make you. . . your favorite food when you come home with momma!"

Madoka laughed, rubbing Rika's head as she watched her daughter go off.

"I love you Asuna, please be safe."

Madoka took off her shoes by the front door, making sure Rika had done so as well before she walked into the house, flicking on lights as she went. She was humming a small song as she went about before realizing how quiet it was.

She could hear Rika down the hallway in the bathroom but she didn't hear the sound of her husband. She started walking throughout the house, her eyes wide. He was always home by this time -- no matter how hard work had been that day.

Rika looked out of the bathroom, tilting her head at her mother as she questioned what she was doing. "Momma, what are you doing? I have to go to my mission in an hour! We gotta get me ready!"

"Rika, your papa's not home yet. Do you remember if he said anything about coming home late?"

Rika shook her head, finally emerging from the bathroom as she helped her mom look around the house. The 12 year old came to a stop by her parents room, looking at the door that was slightly ajar.

Slowly she pushed it open, looking at the back of her father. His body looked weird but he was here. Rika took a step forward, a wide smile on her face. "Papa! Momma's been looking everywhere for ---"

The young girl stopped as her father's body went limp, falling backwards. His eyes seemed to haunt her, that was what she noticed first. She then noticed the large stab wound on his stomach, blood beginning to seep through and onto the floor.

Finally she looked up again, her eyes taking in the spiky hair and blazing red eyes in the night. "Obito-nisan? Ne, ne, why is papa bleeding?"

Slowly Rika took a step backwards, tears already collecting in the 12 year olds eyes. Her back came in contact with the edge of the door but the girl made no sound. Her eyes just kept staring at Obito, wondering why her father was lying on the floor and bleeding.

"I'm sorry."

Madoka stopped short when the shrill scream of her daughter sounded throughout the house. Instantly she was running up the stairs towards her room and she saw a site that made her blood run cold.

In the middle of the hallway floor lay her daughter in a pool of her own blood. Tears were still running down Rika's cheeks and the life disappeared from the girls eyes. Madoka took a step backwards as she looked at the site of her now dead daughter before she looked into her room, seeing the body of her husband laying there as well.

"No. . . oh my god. . no!"

"Madoka-sensei. . . " She whipped around to find Obito Uchiha standing behind her. The boy looked different, however, Madoka made no point to move as he stabbed her stomach. She deserved this. She couldn't protect her family.

They were gone because of her -- therefore, she deserved to die as well.

Asuna. . my child. . . please be safe. .
