Chapter Eight
A young girl looked around the corner of the building, her eyes wide as she strained to see the top of the kyubi. Her body held multiple scratches and bruises and she hadn't even touched the beast.
The girl jumped when her name was called, her body whirling around to see a boy around the same age as her come running towards her.
"Uisake! What are you doing here?"
"I could say the same to you, Keiko!" The boy finally stopped in front of her, pushing her against the wall just as multiple jonin ran past the alley they were hiding in.
Keiko puffed out her cheeks, avoiding looking the boy in his face. They were teammates and Uisake had a thing for her. "I'm showing my sister-in-law that being a ninja is really cool!"
Uisake gave a tilt of his head before shrugging, "I'm just here cause I'm bored."
Keiko gave a yell, slapping the boy upside his head. That wasn't the answer she wanted to hear from him at all.
"Won't your brother and sister-in-law be looking for you though?"
The question made Keiko stop, her mind drifting towards how Yumiko was most likely reacting right now. She had no clue where the young girl was plus she had the worry that Shun could get hurt during the attack.
Keiko gave Uisake a peace sign before jumping on a roof top, the boy following her. "Psh, whatever! I just have to prove I'm strong, okay? Then she won't worry about me so much!"
Uisake went to speak but nothing came out, instead the boy's eyes went wide with fear, blood spurting from his mouth. His body was then thrown to the side, the life now gone from his eyes. A sharp tail was where he once was, blood now covering the fur.
Keiko only looked at the tail with wide eyes before she moved her hand slowly to her face, wiping at the blood. Her vision blurred with she looked at the smeared substance, her breathing quickening.
"No. . ." She had just seen her teammate carelessly killed without a second thought and she knew she would be next. The young girls eyes drifted towards the side, hearing her name being called by a familiar voice.
Keiko looked at her brother, smiling a large smile while tears ran down her face. Her lips mouthed but Shun couldn't hear them as he reached his hand out to reach his younger sister. His own tears were blinding his vision but he couldn't stop it in time.
The tail slammed through Keiko's small body, the girl instantly spurting blood from her mouth. Her eyes held pain for a brief moment before any sign of life was gone. Keiko's body was now on the rooftop, blood spilling out of her lifeless body as the tail moved away to find it's next victim.
Shun gave a scream, rushing to get to his sister but Obito and Kurenai held the boy back. He struggled to get out of their grasp, thinking that he could still save her if he could get to her.
"Shun! She's gone! SHE'S GONE!" Green eyes appeared in front of his own, the blurry figure of Akira appearing in front of him.
"I promised them to protect her Akira. . . I promised my parents to protect her!" Shun's sobs racked throughout his body, the three people surrounding him not quite sure how to react.
Kurenai moved away from the boys, walking over to Shun's younger sister's body. The chunin shut the girls eyes, glancing up when she saw the kyubi was now gone and all that was left was the destruction of their village.
The girl moved out of the way when Shun finally came by his sister, her heart breaking while it seemed like the boys sobs echoed throughout the entire village.

Yumiko stood in front of Aoi, her brown eyes seeming to study the happy child that sat in the crib in front of her. Without a second thought, the girl pulled Aoi's small black shirt over her head before picking the baby up and leaving the room.
Along the way, she passed Keiko's room, stiffening when she heard sobs coming from inside. She knew it as Shun, the boy having not left the room for the past few days. He was distraught over the fact that he couldn't protect his little sister, the last person he had that was related to him by blood.
Yumiko knocked on the door, waiting a few seconds before entering the room. She could see wiping up his tears, placing a small fake smile upon his face at the sight of his wife and child.
Aoi instantly wanted to be placed in her father's arms, the small baby playing with Shun's slightly long hair as if it was a toy.
"Are you ready?" Yumiko's voice was soft but she held the same amount of guilt as Shun, even if she hadn't known Keiko for as long as he had. Keiko was still family to her, even if it hadn't been by blood. If I had paid better attention to her that day. . .
They weren't the only ones suffering from loss.

Obito stood in front of Kakashi, his black eyes wide as his mouth twitched. Pain was rushing throughout his face, emotions swirling all around him as the Uchiha struggled to form words.
"Y-you're joking, right?"
Kakashi could only shake his head, glancing down at his hand where he could still see the blood coating it. The blood wasn't really there; the thought only produced by his imagination.
Obito grabbed Kakashi by the collar of his clothes, tears now falling down the Uchiha's face. "I'll kill you!"
Kakashi could only look at his teammate with pain filled eyes, eyes that held so much pain from the years he had spent on this planet. The boy flew to the ground then, Obito giving the Hatake a glare before disappearing into his house while slamming the door.
Kakashi could still hear the words he had spoken loud and clear, the thought that he could so simply say them making his heart ache. He shouldn't be able to say something like this so casually, not over someone he had known for years.
Rin is dead.

Two years later
"Mommy! Look what I made!" A little girl ran up to her parents, her blonde hair pulled back into two braids that trailed down the sides of her head. Her blues eyes glistened while she placed the flower crown on her mother's lap, a large smile adorning the child's face.
"Oh, it's beautiful, Aoi. Perfect for you to be a flower princess." The woman placed the flower corn on her daughter's head, giving her a small smile while her other hand rested on her large belly.
Aoi gave a nod, showing her teeth while she smiled once again. "I'll be a princess ninja!"
The girl did a twirl, kicking her chubby there year old leg into the air as high as it would go.
Yumiko smiled but inside she was breaking. She wasn't going to place her daughter in the academy, instead wishing for her to have a better life as a civilian. Aoi would be normal, as would her younger sibling who was to be born soon.
"Mommy, mommy, wanna see what i can do?"
Aoi's voice broke through Yumiko's mind once again, the woman looking up at her daughter. The little girl now has small ships of wires in her hands, her tongue sticking out in concentration. Finally the wires moved slightly, a light blue glow of chakra covering them for just a second before they fell down lifelessly.
Yumiko was up instantly, shaking Aoi by the shoulders. "Who taught you that?"
The three year old just looked at her mother with wide eyes, struggling out of her grasp. "M-mommy, you're hurting me!"
With that, Yumiko blinked, looking at her daughter with confusion. The brown-haired woman shook her head, going back to her seat.
