Kidd walked onto the ship's deck, sighing when he felt the gentle sea breeze on his face and body. He stayed there for a while before he climbed up the stairs where the helm was. When the helmsman saw Kidd walking towards him, he curtly bowed his head.

He gave the order that he and any other men that were on the night watch were dismissed from their shift and were permitted to leave. The helmsman switches places with him and bids his command. As he sailed in silence another breeze flew past him. He started to hum a tune and his mind drifted into memories to when he regained the ability to enjoy the silence again.

//////////

I surrounded myself with sea charts, metal pins, handwritten notes, and pictures. They were all connected by long pieces of thin twine or string in some way. My mind flooded with buzzing like it usually does, but it didn't bother me as I'm used to the sound by now.

I was so close in finding her, my sister, but something got caught in my thought process. I stayed up all night from it and felt more irritated from the banging and the bunched up screams outside my door. My crew could do what they wanted, they were free men of the sea with the right to do anything. As long as they didn't bother me when I'm in this room I could care less about what they broke right now.

"Kidd!" Screamed a voice, "Kidd, get out here now!" The small pin I had in my hand bent at a ninety-degree angle. A growl escaped my throat as I thought about the murderous intents I would do to the person that disrupted me. The banging and screaming out his door continued and I finally stomped my way over to the door and violently opening it. It was Killer.

"What in God's name could you possibly be so concerned about that you just have to bother me!"

"I'm sorry Kidd, but we found a person washed up on some driftwood-" I cut him off before he could continue.

"So what? Just throw them back overboard, I'm busy." I turned around, about to slam the door in his face until he caught the edge and swung it back. I was about to say something but in turn, he interrupted.

"That's the thing, Kidd! It is important! The person we brought on board might be you know who," My tired eyes widen. "They started attacking the others and we're trying our best to hold them down but we don't know for how much longer."

"What do they look like?"

"I'm not sure, I didn't get a good look, but it's obvious they're female."

I pushed passed him, trying to get a view of the person in the center of the crowd but I couldn't. My men were all around them holding them flat against the deck. I could barely hear their voice among the clutter of the others. The buzzing grew louder, heart racing with adrenaline, my throat, dry. I tried leaning over the railing to try to get another look but it was futile.

"Hold her down!"

"Make sure she doesn't escape!"

"Someone get the sea prism!"

Where some of the things my men said.

"Let me go! Let me go let me see your captain! Let me see my brother!"

My head popped up from what the girl had said. Racing down the stairs I tried to get pass through the men, trying to scream louder than the others to let me through, but I was shoved out of the way and onto the floor. Growling with irritation I quickly grabbed my gun. Bringing it to the air, it went off.

Every sound ceased, including the buzzing in my head.

"What the hell is going on here!" The crowd split into two. The stowaway continued to whimper and cry. When I got there I kneeled at their level, lifting their head with the barrel of my pistol.

"Kidd? Is that you?" they asked, "It's me, your sister, (Y/n)!"

"I don't believe you. How do I know that you're my sister and not some impostor." The girl didn't say anything for a while, not until she cleared her throat to speak.

"Well who else has the balls to go on your ship and start threatening your crew and barking demands?" She tried to sound cocky and brave, but I could hear the trembling in her voice.

"You'd be surprised missy. And I make sure the people who do that on my ship never speak like that ever again, one way or another," She gulped.

"Please, you have to believe me! Our mother was named Anne, Our father William!" and it was at that moment I snapped. How would she even know those names? Filled with rage I fired it. I raised my gun and shot at the neck, nearly taking her leg. The boat remained silent.

"Our father left us at the age of five, our mother died when we were seven!"

"Shut up shut up shut up!" I had enough of her nonsense, I grabbed her by the collar of her rags and pulled her to the ship's edge.

"We got separated when we were ten! I was kidnapped and turned into a slaved! Please believe me!"

"Kidd, don't you think you're being too rash?" said Killer in the back.

"No." I said to him and turned back to her to watch her struggle under my grip, "Any last words?"

And with a whisper, she started to sing.

"Oh all the money that e'er I spent
I spent it in...good company...
And all the harm that e'er I've done
Alas, it was to none but me...
And all I've done for want of wit
To memory now...I can't recall...
So fill to me the parting glass
Good night and joy be with you all..."

"Kidd, please remember..."

That song... I stood there frozen.

The sound of cloth being ripped reached my ears but before I could react, she fell into the ocean.

"(Y/N)!"

Everything happened so fast no one could comprehend what happened, not even me. I dove in after her foolishly, but I didn't care. The water froze my skin a saw her, I reached out but I ran out of time. My breath ran out.

"CAPTAIN KIDD!"

//////////

"Kidd, time to eat, head inside." Killer unexpectedly took the helm from him and stepped forward a bit to take the wheel. However Kidd didn't let go from it just yet. Looking at his deshelviled first mate he couldn't help but ask him what happened.

"You look like shit."

"I know, that sister of yours is something."

"What's that suppose to mean?" He just shrugged, "Whatever, you've better have eaten, can't have you dead yet." Kidd finally let go of the helm and headed inside.

The dinner hall exploded in loud chatter amongst the rowdy men, none for which he cared for. Surveying the area he tried to get through them to get to his special booth. (Y/n) was already there picking carefully at her plate. She looked up when his shadow loomed over. She then simply scooted over and patted a spot near her.

"You don't have to eat so little, no one's gonna steal anything from you." He started to dig into his dish.

"That's what you think," she grunted. He grunted back and slid some of his food onto her plate. "Stop that, I can't eat anymore."

"Shut up, you needed more than I do."

"Shut up, no I don't."

They bickered with a plate of food being shoved back at each other.

"You look like a twig."

"You look like shit."

"I look like shit? Look at you, Mr. fashion disaster."

"At least I'm not fucking my first mate!" He slam the table and the whole roomed hushed.

"No one's fucking anybody!" (Y/n) stood up towering over him a bit. Kidd took up on her challenge in dominance.

"Yeah, you're right. Not with those ugly ass scars!" (Y/n)'s face flushed and tears pricked her eyes. Her arms reached up for the short sleeves of the baggy shirt that barely covered the peaking scars on her shoulders. With trembling fingers she pulls it closer to their body. After a few tears streaming down her face she ran out of the room sniffling.

Kidd sighed and sat back to to eat. When it was too quite for him he yelled at the other men to mind their business and the room returned to loud conversations.
