Aaron hung up the phone in the luscious park and turned towards the others. Blake handed out envelopes to each member. They each open them and freeze.
"Job well—" He stared at the envelope, "Whoa!"
Blake nodded, "There was an overlap in the London stock market. Valuation carried over to NASDAQ and... I'm just very good at what I do."
"This is the score. THE score," Symona giggled, running her finger along the edge of the check.
"Age of the geek, baby," Blake said, throwing an arm over Symona's shoulder. "Age of the geek."
Kath rolled their eyes, "Somebody kiss this woman so I don't have to."
Blake gestured to the group, "So, we're out, huh? I mean we're out, this is retirement money. This is go legit and buy an island kind of money."
Aaron nodded, "Right. Uh, yeah. Pleasure working with you guys."
"Yeah. One show only. No encores," Kath's gruff voice said quickly.
Symona looked at them each with a slight bit of remorse in her eyes, "I already forgot your names."
After a long look around, everyone turned and headed in different directions. Aaron walked down a side path as he thought about where he would go. He could literally go anywhere and give this money to anyone. His life was an open world.
"Hey, Aaron, you know I never had that cool a time on a job," Blake said, popping up behind Aaron.
Aaron refused to turn around and look Blake in the face. "It's a walkaway, Blake."
"And I got focus issues, Aaron, you kept me right on," Blake continued to babble.
Popping up on Aaron's other side was Symona, "I'm really good at one thing—"
"Symona."
"...only one thing that's it, but you, you know other things and-and I can't stop doing my one thing. I can't retire ..."
Directly behind them, Kath appeared, his hands in his pockets and shoulder hunched, "You want to know what I think?"
"Not really."
"What are you going to do alone, you loved bossing us around, being in charge."
Aaron sighed, rubbing the back of his neck awkwardly. "Oh, I'm touched.
"Well a guy like you can't follow others, that's why you were a wreck, you need this."
"Yeah, I'll manage." Aaron's phone rang in his pocket. He pulled it out and spoke into the receiver, "Yeah."
On the bench next to them sat Eden Nasrin, he hung up the phone and stood. "You pick the jobs."
"No, no, no, I don't work with others, okay? I don't," Aaron said, turning back around and continuing to walk as the rest tried to keep pace.
"Seriously," Eden said. "This was amazing and you fucking know it. You loved it. We all did. There's no way you can go back to boring heists."
Aaron stared at her for a second before stopping and turning to the others, creating a circle, "Okay, but we do what we did today."
"Huh?" Symona asked.
"We're going to Robin Hood it," Aaron said. "Like what we did today. We are going to give back what CEOs and government assholes with power take from people with not enough."
Kath nodded, "Okay, but why?"
Aaron shrugged, "I liked helping Pierson. I liked not screwing over anyone who didn't deserve it."
It'll be kind of like Redemption."
