Chapter 35
(Y/n) was not afraid to fight back with her electricity, but she couldn't get a good shot at the pokémon. Though she was sure she wouldn't die if she got hit, (y/n) didn't want to risk taking any unnecessary damage. Her best bet was to continue hiding, dashing from one area of safety to the next as she attempted to contact Gold. Thankfully, he answered immediately just as (y/n) ducked behind a building.
"Gold, there's a plane! I don't know who was on it, but they sent their pokémon after me. Did you get to the place where you saw the signal?"
"I saw the plane, yes! Crystal's calling the local police and going towards it right now. I'm on the way with your pokémon. Your Lycanroc and Pikachu might get there before me. They're far ahead, I can hardly see them now," Gold answered. (Y/n) felt a bit relieved to hear that help was on the way. All she had to do was endure just a little longer. "Have you found Silver yet?"
The question immediately got rid of any sort of calm that was trying to settle in. Before she could answer, (y/n) moved on to a new hiding space by jumping through a grove of bushes. The pokémon seemed to lose track of her, so she made a break for the nearest fence, putting her phone into her pocket before climbing over it. The action left her near an abandoned home. "No, not ye-" she was about to answer Gold's earlier inquiry.
The yellow and black pokémon that appeared from the door of the abandoned home took her words right from her. "(Y/n)? Hey, what's going on?"
"Zeraora," she whispered, immediately recognizing the pokémon, but why now? Why would she find herself dealing with this problem when she had others things to take care of. "Gold I have to hang up," (y/n) warned. The conversation was cut short just as he began to protest. The yellow and black pokémon approached her quickly but carefully. She did her best to say still despite the impending danger potentially coming from behind her.
Zeraora paused in front of her then turned around to take a few steps before pausing again. She knew. Tapu Koko had done this often to lead her, and so she followed. It put her at ease to be led into a building rather than staying out in the open. At least that was her first thought upon entering the building. Withing seconds, her eyes recognized the familiar color of red.
"Sil-!" Her voice gave out before she could get out the full length of his name. She had acted before realizing it and was already on the floor next to the couch that the boy lay across, unmoving. "Wake up," she cried as her shaking hand reached up to touch his shoulder. "Silver, please wake up!" Her voice grew louder this time.
His eyes opened, just barely. It was clear to see that he was hardly hanging on. His hands seemed to be the only part of him that bled, but bruises could be found across the parts of his body that were visible. There was no telling what kind of internal damage he had taken.
"(Y/n)...?" One of his hands flinched, but he didn't seem as if he could spare the energy to do anything more.
"I'm here," she whimpered. "I'm right here. I'm so sorry." She carefully leaned her head against the couch and partially against his side. "Just stay awake for me. You better not go back to sleep, you hear me?" She was met by unsettling silence. "Silver, answer me. Anything at all. Just say something. I need you to talk to me."
"Everything hurts," he mumbled. "Am I gonna die?"
"No, I'm not letting that happen," (y/n) quickly answered. "We're going to get you somewhere safe."
"I'm sorry." Silver closed his eyes. "I don't think I'll make it."
Panic and fear. It was all she could feel in that moment. "No, you can do this. Open your eyes. Look at me, Silver," she quickly spoke. She rose her head up and shifted so that she could see his face. It hurt her to see him in this condition.
"I'm glad I spent my time with you." Silver smiled to himself, still not bothering to open his eyes again, but his expression shifted into pain. "I'm not ready to die yet," he whimpered.
"That's because you aren't going to die." (Y/n) looked back to see that Gold was standing at the door of the abandoned home. Zeraora was nowhere to be found. Instead, her entire pokémon team and Gold's Aipom were gathered there with the boy at the door.
"Those other pokémon? The ones with the flowers as hands?" (y/n) questioned as Gold moved to sit at her side and examine Silver.
"Dealt with. Don't worry, I know a little first aid. I can at least keep him stable." Gold looked like he was close to passing out himself, but he didn't let his fatigue stop him. (Y/n) had a very limited medical background. The best she could do was wrap bruises in bandages thanks to having no choice but to learn how when she had been training years ago. "We need to keep him awake. Talk to him for me. I need to take a quick look around this place to see if there's anything that can help."
"Right." (Y/n) watched Gold walk away before turning her attention back to Silver. "You heard him. Keep talking to me. No sleeping."
"So I'm saved?" Silver displayed a bit of hope in his half lidded eyes as he opened them.
"Of course you are. Everything is going to be okay. I told you already, didn't I?" (Y/n) managed a smile to help encourage him. She was also tired and at her limit just as Gold was. Silver had been found. He was alive. The only thing left to do was to wait for the professionals to arrive. Their job was done.
