Chapter 34

Po Town truly was deserted. After the events that took place with Necrozma, the whole town was completely abandoned by even Team Skull right before they disbanded. Before all of that occured, (y/n) still remembered coming to Po Town to visit Gladion whenever he told her that he was there. Of course, Guzma had constantly asked her to use her power for his amusement since he found it so weird that she had control of electricity, but she didn't mind it too much. (Y/n) always declined because it was almost always raining in Po Town no matter the weather anywhere else. Using electricity in the rain spelled potential death for anyone that got affected by it.

That same rain was another reason why (y/n) couldn't find Silver. Lycanroc was doing her best, but there was only so much she could do with the rainwater washing away any scents that could have been left behind.

"This is really starting to get on my nerves," she thought aloud. As if in disagreement, the tag in her hand suddenly crackled. She immediately dropped it with a yelp of pain. Even she could still be harmed by electricity in the proper conditions, but she certainly had a high resistance to it. For that tag to have hurt her, it had to have given off a strong enough charge to do so. The rain only made it worse.

Lycanroc came to her side and nuzzled against her hand. "I'm okay. Thanks," she said to ease her pokémon's nerves. Even Lycanroc was getting stressed out by the situation. "Murkrow gave me this tag for a reason. It must be important," (y/n) said as she picked it back up. Thank goodness it was cloth or the rain would have ruined it long ago. Even if it zapped her again, she wouldn't drop it. The tag had been sparking ever so often either way. This time,, it had just been particularly strong. She could feel the direction that the charges seemed to be pulling her in. The tag was guiding her, but to where?

For a moment, (y/n) roamed the area, continuing her search. She was weary. Her thoughts kept switching between words of hope and fated tragedy. She would have kept cycling through that process if it weren't for the distant shouts that she heard. (Y/n) chose to immediately investigate rather than making any phone calls. "Lycanroc, lead the way."

The two of them began to run towards the shouts. They stopped along the way, but Lycanroc had gained a general direction from when she had heard. (Y/n) was beginning to think that she should contact either Gold or Crystal when Lycanroc froze and gave a low growl. (Y/n) stopped as well, almost slipping from the rain, and followed her pokémon's gaze to see a man walking around with a Lycanroc of his own. Even from this distance, which was about twenty meters away, she could see that he was hurt. Not long after she spotted him, he saw her too.

"Help!!" he called to her. "Please, help me! He's going to kill me!"

"Another victim?" He was definitely bleeding, that much was for sure. (Y/n) wasn't sure what to do, so she called out to him rather than approaching. "What are you doing out here?" He was starting to walk towards her. "No, stay over there where I can see you! You shouldn't be here!"

"I need your help! There's someone out here trying to kill us! I barely got away. He's keeping the others there!"

"Others? Is this man a former member of Team Rocket too? The culprit had been hiding in Po Town collecting victims?" There were so many questions that she wanted to ask, but she couldn't shake the feeling that something was off.

"Let me call the police! I'll get you some help as quickly as possible!" She pulled out her phone. The moment the word "police" came out of her mouth, the man began to dash at her. His Lycanroc followed although for some reason much slower. "I knew it!"

Lycanroc was the only pokémon she had that could effectively fight in the rain, but she released her Marowak anyway for support. She couldn't risk killing the man, so a good beating with a bone wouldn't be too much. "Stay back!" she snapped as she dialed the first number she had been given from Crystal and Gold.

The two Lycanrocs were the only things keeping the situation from truly going south. Both of them growled at one another in warning not come any closer. "You don't know what you're getting yourself into, little girl. Give me the phone!" The man released a Machamp to his side hoping to use the pokémon's brute strength to get past Marowak. The little guy may have been small compared to the mighty Machamp, but Marowak was by no means a pushover.

Not seeing much of a choice in the matter, (y/n) released her Pikachu and Togedemaru as well to keep the man from getting any closer. "Hello?" Crystal was the one who answered. "Crystal, its an emergency, I found the guy who took him." The man didn't like those words one bit and charged at her regardless of the pokémon in the way. "Pikachu, don't kill him," (y/n) ordered her pokémon knowing that he only knew electric type moves. She stood her ground knowing that she would have to get past him in order to find Silver. "Call Gold and tell him to look for the signal. You guys will know it when you see it. I gotta go." She hung up before Crystal could say anything else. This plan was going to cost her, but she had to make it work for Silver's sake. "Assuming he's still...no! He is alive. I know it!"

Machamp had grabbed Pikachu and Marowak and was still able to fight off Togedemaru with its remaining two arms. It was unnerving but with her Lycanroc easily keeping the other at bay, the only one that (y/n) had to worry about was the man trying to attack her. This was a fight she couldn't afford to lose.

He swung at her with his pipe which she easily dodged, but she didn't expect him to bring the weapon back. His movements were erratic as he fought with just one arm. (Y/n) was slowed by fatigue and the weather. Even so, she ducked to the side and punched him square in the jaw before following up with a high kick. Her training with Tapu Koko had not just been for her powers.

The man staggered backwards and spit onto the ground. "You're fast. Good, this will be fun." He threw down his weapon and took a fighting stance, ignoring his arm injury. (Y/n) quickly glanced at the battling group of pokémon before she focused her remaining energy to prepare for whatever this guy would throw at her.

"I just need to get past you! I don't have time for this!!" (Y/n) dashed forward and made a feint attack which the man took as bait. He swung at her but she was already preparing a low sweeping kick that knocked him off his feet. Before she could get away, he grabbed the bottom of her leg. It was only because of the rain that she fell. "Let go!" (Y/n) kicked him until he lost his grip and quickly got to her feet.

"I'll kill your pokémon if you leave!" the man yelled after her as he struggled to get off the ground.

"Go ahead and try! They can handle themselves," (y/n) hissed. "Pikachu, use Thunderbolt!"

The man's eyes widened in realization. Before he could warn his Machamp, the sky darkened even more and a bolt of lightning descended upon the area where Pikachu was. (Y/n) didn't have the time to see what became of the Machamp, but she did know that Marowak could take a Lightning Bolt or two. She had complete faith that her pokémon would catch up to her.

"Silver!!" she called out. It was a risky move, but she needed to find him as quickly as possible. Even if there was a chance that there were more people involved in this, (y/n) was willing to risk her own safety if it meant at least hearing a reply from the kidnapped boy. "Silver, where are you?" she shouted out as she ran. The tag, which she had stuffed into her pocket before her fight, sparked electricity again. "Ow, ow!" She snatched the tag from her pocket wondering why it was suddenly pulsing.

Overhead, a sound that (y/n) was unfamiliar with crossed the sky. She looked up to see what she assumed to be a pokémon at first as it had the colors of a bird pokémon of some sort, but as she got a better look at the passing vehicle, (y/n) could tell that it was a small plane. It couldn't have been a good sign. In one last desperate attempt, (y/n) called for Silver one last time. "Silver!!" She had no idea where to go to look for him since she had no clue exactly where that crazy man had come from.

The plane pilot must have caught sight of her, because the vehicle was circling around and preparing to land in the middle of the road. With the car blocking the way at the end, it would be a close call as far as landing was concerned. Unfortunately, (y/n) didn't have the time to consider such things. She ducked and rolled as the plane rushed past her, attempting to hit her on purpose.

Before the plane landed, two pokémon were thrown from their pokéballs to intercept her. They were unfamiliar, no doubt from another region. They had flowers as hands, one red and one blue, and they were aiming right at her. With a yelp of surprise, (y/n) took shelter behind a nearby fence as she came up under a full assault of bullet seed.
