Chapter 3

He dashed down the street, sticking to the sidewalk of the main roads so that he could get to the pier faster. That was the only way he could leave this region, but it was also the place he feared the most. Silver had nearly drowned last time he was in water. Mewtwo had insisted he get over the fear and attempted to help by having them live in Fuchsia City, right near the water. At best, Silver could now tolerate the sound of the sea and look at large bodies of water from nearby without touching them.

Now that his life depended on it, Silver hoped that he would at least be able to get on a boat to hide on until Mewtwo found him. If he wasn't found before the boat left the harbor, he would just be going with the boat. Mewtwo would still be able to find him, right? The tall streetlights started to become less frequent as he approached the docking area. There were three boats present, but only one of them had lights. He would have to go to that one. Where there are lights, there are likely people as well which meant that boat was likely going to leave. If not, it had just arrived. All he would need to do is wait for Mewtwo.

Quickly but carefully, Silver approached the boat seeing no one around. He found it suspicious, but he was in a dire situation and chose to ignore the obvious red flag. He got close enough to touch the watercraft, seeing the word "Aether" painted on the side of it. The sound of waves reminded him that he was too close to the water.

"Scarlett? Is that you?" The voice nearly had Silver yelp out of fear. He stumbled away from the boat and the water to find the person who knew his false name.

"Lillie??" Was this her boat? He was relieved that it wasn't anyone trying to capture him though it wouldn't make sense for his pursuers to call him so calmly.

"Are you running away from home?" she called to him from aboard the boat while slightly leaning over the edge. Why was that the first thing she asked him?!

"What kind of person helps a stranger run away from home?" Silver was supposed to think that. He bit his tongue when he realized he'd said those words aloud.

"So you are." Lillie gave him a look, one that told him she understood his situation somehow. "Well, you better hurry. We're leaving soon," she smiled at him and gestured towards the small stair path leading to the yacht. Was she being serious right now?

"You aren't going to ask me why I'm running?" he questioned. There was no way things were this easy.

"Nope. I'm sure you have your reasons. But seriously, you should hurry. We're already running late. The captain should be getting ready to pull the anchor and set sail."

He wasn't going to turn down the offer. Sure, it seemed like a trap, but if anything Lillie just seemed like she didn't know any better. Silver had tricked people before in order to steal their pokémon while he was with Team Rocket. Though he was fairly decent at it, he didn't want to rely on that kind of tactic anymore. This felt like he had cheated Lillie out of something somehow.

"Hurry, hurry," she gestured for him to follow her as she led him onto the clearly expensive yacht. He had to remind himself not to stare since she was in her pajamas. It would be rude of him to do so, wouldn't it? Lillie anxiously checked the corner before she led him into the inner area of the boat where there were rooms. For a yacht, the boat sure was large. They had to pass by an open sitting space before they reached four doors, two across from one another.

"Lillie," someone said from somewhere behind them. The girl freaked out upon hearing her name being called. The next thing Silver knew, he had been pushed through a door and stood in the middle of a small bedroom room. He looked to his side and saw a familiar face. (Y/n) stared back at him with just as much surprise as he did. Thank Lugia she was dressed or else he would have definately been in trouble.

"Hide him, quick!" Lillie whisper yelled before leaving Silver in the room to fend for himself. All he could do is stand there petrified in uncertainty. He feared that if he moved so much as an inch, (y/n) would throw the pillow in her arms at him. She was also in her pajamas, but the giant fluffy pillow that she was holding on to hid most of her from view.

"What are you doing here?!" (y/n) whisper yelled at him. Silver just stared at her still not daring to move. "Did Lillie bring you here?" Now that was something he could answer. He slightly nodded to confirm her suspicions. (Y/n) sighed and facepalmed. "I'm sorry. I'll let you back off the boat. I didn't think Lillie would take what I said so seriously." (Y/n) said that last sentence to herself, but Silver didn't pay it any mind either way.

"Wait, no. Don't do that," he finally said something to her. "I'm...running away from home," Silver chose to go with the phrase that Lillie had used. For a moment, (y/n) just blinked at him.

"Nope. I can't do this again. Sorry, Scarlett. Off the ship. The last time something like this happened, I had to help fight a certain someone's mother in another dimension," (y/n) pointed at the door. She was even getting up from where she sat on her bed to escort him herself.

"I don't have any parents. There isn't anyone," Silver blurted out hoping that she would change her mind. She froze and looked at him suspiciously. "I can't stay here. I don't know where you're going, but I need to get away from Fuchsia City no matter what. Please," he pleaded with her.

"We're heading out! Finally got word that we're cleared to go!" The loud voice from the captain scared both of them, but there was nothing more to the announcement. Silver hoped that (y/n) wouldn't alert the captain of his presence. She looked as if she still wanted to, but instead she went back to her bed and sat down.

"It's too late to do anything about it now. I guess you have no choice but to get kidnapped," she said rather nonchalantly. "But you better stay on that side of the room, got it." She pointed at him accusingly. "Honestly, what was Lillie thinking...?"

Silver didn't know what to do, so he merely sat on the floor and scooted over towards the desk in the corner of the room. He took a quick glance around seeing that it was a rather simple area. There was only a desk on his side of the room right across from the door. On (y/n)'s side of the room, there was a bed and a small dresser with a lamp on top of it. Not to mention that everything was white without a single blemish to be found. It was almost uncanny.

When he looked back to (y/n), he flinched. She wasn't glaring at him, but her gaze was sharp and calculative. "You're...not a stalker are you?" she suddenly asked.

"What?" Silver almost raised his voice a bit too loudly. "No! Why would I be a stalker?!" he said in a lower tone.

"Just checking. I just met you earlier by chance. It's kind of strange that you showed up here on this boat right before I'm heading home. How did you find this boat? Did you know we were here? You sure you aren't a stalker?" (Y/n)'s suspicions were understandable, but Silver couldn't exactly tell her the truth. He was supposed to be avoiding other people while making his escape, yet somehow he ended up in this situation.

"I'm not a stalker. You weren't so skeptical when you saw me then."

"That was before you appeared in my room unannounced out of nowhere!" (y/n) hissed. Silver opened his mouth to speak but couldn't find anything to say in response. He wasn't used to not having a retort for everything.

"I didn't really intend to run into you again. I was just trying to leave." He avoided her stare, not wanting to fall up under any more of her scrutiny. They fell into an awkward silence, neither of them wanting to make eye contact with one another.

"Mewtwo, if you can hear me, I'm safe. I found some people willing to take me with them on their boat. I don't know where they're going," Silver thought. Mewtwo would get the message if he was nearby. All Silver could do was believe in the powerful psychic type. Silver couldn't imagine not actually having him around.

It had been about fifteen minutes with no signs of Lillie returning when (y/n) spoke up. "Here, catch." She tossed her pillow to him. "I'm not cruel. You should at least have somewhere soft to lay your head. It's getting late, and I don't think Lillie is coming back. Might as well get some sleep. If you need anything, just wake me up."

"Thank you," he said although he wasn't going to dare wake (y/n) even if he did actually need anything. Based on what she said earlier, he might get attacked if he tried that. "Good night," he added as he placed the pillow on the floor and faced away from her. He slipped his bag off of his back and onto the floor to get more comfortable although he doubted he'd get any sleep either way.
