Chapter one
Bakugo was on his way to Midoryia's house, they never hung out at Bakugo's house because of his mom, especially since Midoryia is sensitive. Inko was like a second mom for Bakugo. Whenever Mitsuki would yell at Bakugo for something he did wrong, Bakugo always found a way to Midoryia's house, those two always made him feel better. Bakugo got to Midoryia's house and knocked on the door. He might have only been four at the time, but he lived just a few houses away from Midoryia so he could walk there by himself. Inko opened the door and smiled, "Katsuki! It's so good to see you!" She exclaims, picking him up. Bakugo chuckles and tries to squirm out, wanting to go play with Midoryia. Inko smiles and puts him down, watching as he runs into Midoryia's room.
"Kacchan!" Midoryia exclaims, pausing the show he was watching.
"Are you ready to watch the new dragon movie?" Bakugo asks, plopping himself down beside Midoryia.
"Yeah!" Midoriya says, changing the channel. Midoriya and Bakugo cuddled up next to each other on the bed and watched the movie, content with life at the moment.
Throughout the movie, they watched this one antagonist specifically, slowly making the connection that he's a lot like Bakugo. "Kacchan, he acts like you!" Midoriya exclaims, looking over at him.
Bakugo didn't really like the fact that Midoryia saw him that way but didn't say anything as he nodded, "yeah, you're right!"
"Kacchan! I've just had the best idea!" Midoryia exclaims, pressing pause, "if you bully me, then in the future when we become heroes together, we can make up and it would be like the character on the show doing better in life!"
"That's a great idea! Look at us, already doing good even before we become heroes!" Bakugo explains, grinning, although he wasn't completely sure how to bully Midoryia, Bakugo doesn't even have his quirk just yet, although he should be getting it very soon since he just turned four. Satisfied with the new game they're now both playing, they continue watching the movie, cuddling up next to each other. As the day goes on, the two of them finish the movie and end up playing heroes and villains, Midoryia being the hero and Bakugo being the villain since they have that new game they're playing. After a while more of playing, they eat dinner and Bakugo unfortunately has to head home, they knew they'd see each other tomorrow, but what they didn't know is that tomorrow, their lives would change.
The next morning as Bakugo was getting ready for school, he felt something spark inside him, it scared him, but he didn't say anything as he continued to get ready, excited to see Midoryia to tell him he has a new nickname for him, for the new game they're now playing. He thought about it and realized he could call him Deku which means 'useless person.' Bakugo finished getting ready for school and went to the kitchen to eat breakfast, waiting for his mother.
Midoriya was up and ready for school by seven o'clock. He loved school so he always got up pretty early. Everyday he wakes up, he hopes he'll get a quirk, even if he knows that's impossible, he still believes. He made himself some cereal and put on an all might movie while waiting for his mom to wake up so she could take him to school. He couldn't wait to meet up with Kacchan!
About thirty minutes later, both the boys arrived at school. Bakugo went up to Midoryia before class started and started telling him everything he thought of. "I'm going to start calling you Deku, it's an insult that means useless! I'm also gonna brag about home much better than you I am, also I think I'm getting my quirk soon, I felt weird, tingly sparks inside me this morning," he says, grinning.
"That's a great idea Kacchan! Also, I'm super happy for you! I can't wait to see your quirk!" Midoryia exclaims, not knowing how it would change their friendship for the worse. The bell rings and Bakugo nods, the two of them heading to class together. Class drags on, normally the boys loved class, but they were anxious today. Bakugo wanted recess to happen, he wanted to see if he got his quirk or not! Midoriya just wanted to talk to Kacchan, he couldn't wait to start the game for real!
Finally, recess came and the boys headed out, Bakugo's mini squad following him. Midoryia followed as well and watched as Bakugo showed off his quirk, at the moment it was only tiny explosions, but soon with training, it would be more than that, it'd be huge explosions! "Woah Kacchan, that's really cool!" Midoryia says, running over to him and his friends.
Bakugo who didn't want Midoryia to feel bad since he wouldn't get a quirk, looked at Midoriya in disgust, "go away you damn nerd, I don't want to hang out with a quirkless wannabe." He snarls, knowing full well this was more than just a game now that he has his quirk, he knew how bad Midoryia wanted a quirk so he could be just like All Might.
Midoyia was a little shocked by the statement. He knew they were playing a game but he didn't expect Kacchan to start off so meanly. "Kacchan?" Midoryia asks, softly. Bakugo just rolls his eyes and ignores Midoryia, walking off, Bakugo's friends following suit. Midoyia immediately felt lost and alone, even if it was just a game it still hurt, he just didn't think it would hurt this badly. He walks over to the bench and sits down, staring off into space, wondering if anything bad would come of the game they were playing.
TIME SKIP TO MIDDLE SCHOOL,
"Kacchan!" Midoryia says, running up to him. The two of them have been playing the bullying game since they were little kids and Bakugos' very good at it. School was about to start and Bakugo and Midoryia were hanging out, they met up every day before school, they always made sure to hide from the public eye, and as of right now, they were still really good friends.
"Hey nerd." Bakugo says, not looking up from his work he was doing.
"What are you working on?" Midoryia asks, peeking over Bakugo's shoulder.
"Just some dumb English," he sighs, starting to get furstrated with his work. Bakugo had trouble in English whereas Midoryia had trouble in math, so the two of them tended to help each other in those subjects.
"Here, switch with me then," Midoyia says, handing him some math work, taking the English work from Bakugo, who nodded and instantly started on the math. "Are we still hanging out today?" Midoryia asks, hopefully. Bakugo has been finding ways to get out of hanging out with him, but he wasn't sure why. As far as he knows, everythings ok at home, for now at least, as long as he doesn't piss off his mom. Midoryia used to love his mom but that all changed when Bakugo got his quirk, that's when the hitting started.
"Yeah, we can," Bakugo nods, giving Midoriya back the math. He smiled, also handing Bakugo his English work back. "What do you want to do today?"
"I don't really care, I'm going to let you pick." Bakugo nods, "Meet me here during lunch and I'll let you know."
Midoryia nods and looks at him, "are you ok?" He asks, his tone of voice serious, letting Bakugo know what Midoryia was talking about.
"Yeah, I'm fine." Bakugo lies, not looking him in the eyes.
"Kacchan, please don't lie to me."
"Fine, it's getting bad again, my grade in math is going downhill which pisses off the old hag."
"I tried explaining to her that I'm trying but she doesn't want to hear it, she'd just rather hit me."
"The offer to live with me and mom is still available, she might be good at hiding the evidence, but I'm sure we could find something to get her."
"No, it's ok, I can't leave dad there to deal with her by himself." Bakugo says, looking down. Bakugo cared for his dad too much to do that to him. He might not show it but he cares about all his friends and family. He lays his head on Midoryia's shoulder, he was the only one that sees this side of him, the vulnerable side. Bakugo hated this side of him, he barely let Midoryia see it, but when he did, he didn't judge. Midoryia just wraps his arms around Bakugo and rubs his back, trying to comfort him, not saying anything when he flinches, knowing it was just a normal reaction for him by now. Midoryia felt bad for Bakugo and tried to help him as much as he could, but Bakugos' stubbornness came out when he was offered help, especially in these types of situations. They sat like that until the bell rang, once it did, they went back to their little game and made their way to class, making sure not to walk too close to each other.
