Chapter fifteen

Bakugo sat in the backseat, watching the scenery pass as his mother drove home. "If you did anything to make someone question my parenting, you're going to regret it, understand? You're already in trouble for letting yourself get hurt enough for the hospital."

"I didn't say anything," Bakugo says, not moving his eyes from the window.

"Then why were you talking to those pro heroes?"

"They're my teachers, they were letting me know what I missed in class."

"That better be all," Mitsuki mothers as she pulls into the driveway. Turning around to face him, she glared, "I want you to go straight to your room and wait for me."

"Yes ma'am," Bakugo mutters, stepping out of the car and making his way towards his room. Sitting down on his bed, Bakugo lays down and pulls the cover up to his chest. What's going to happen if CPS shows up because of what he told his teachers, his mother hides the evidence? Mom's going to kill me when she finds out. Not sure what to do, he just laid there, slowly drifting off to sleep.

A little while later, Bakugo was roughly woken up by his mother who slapped him across the face. "Get up! Stop being lazy!"

Bakugo blinked before jumping out of bed, trying his best to gain his surroundings, he needed to be alert around his mother, "I'm sorry."

"Shut up," Mitsuki growls, slapping him again.

Bakugo whimpers, "Mom please, I'm sorry."

"Next time don't let some random villains beat you up, got it? You're weak and pathetic!" Mitsuki growls, punching her son in the stomach, causing him to fall back on the bed, clutching his stomach.

"I'm sorry, it won't happen again," Bakugo gasps, wrapping his arms around his stomach.

"Get up! Fucking weakling." Bakugo slowly got to his feet, just for his mother to slap him again.

"Stop it!" Bakugo hisses, trembling as he stands up, "I'm tired of this! You hold me to expectations I can't meet! I'm scared to do anything wrong because of you! I hate you!"

Mitsuki growls and was about to retort when there was a knock on the door, "police, open up!"

"Damnit!" She mutters, stomping towards the hallway. "Don't leave this room, don't make a sound. I'll deal with you later."

As soon as she walked down the hallway, Bakugo sat down on the bed, I did it, I stood up to her. I can't believe it. Will this make life worse for me though? Thoughts ran through his mind on what this now means for him now.

"Hello ma'am, we have reports of something going on in this house, may I come in?" The officer asks Mitsuki.

"What kind of reports?" Mitsuki asks, not budging from her spot, her arms crossed.

"Reports of child abuse and child neglect," the officer says. "May I come in?"

Mitsuki mentally curses in her mind before stepping aside and letting the officer inside. "My son isn't home right now but I can assure you, I do love him."

"Where is he?" The officer asks, inspecting the house.

"At a friend's house, he got attacked by villains and was in the hospital for a few days and wanted to see his friend."

"And what's that friend's name?"

"Izuku Midoryia," Mitsuki says, unsure of anyone else.

"Midoriya is in the hospital," the officer turns to face her, "where is he? Is he upstairs?"

Before Mitsuki could say anything, Marusaru walked inside, "what's going on?" He looked between Mitsuki and the officer.

"before I answer that, who are you?"

"Masaru Bakugo, husband of Mitsuki Bakugo and Father to Katsuki Bakugo."

"I got reports of child abuse and child neglect in this household and I came by to check it out. Your wife doesn't seem to know where your son is, do you?" The officer asks, turning to Masaru.

"He came home from the hospital today," Masaru, "I got off work as early as I could to come check on him, I assume he's in his room."

The officer made a mental note to check with Mr. Bakugo's boss to see if that was real or if it's a lie he spun just now. "Can you show me where his room is?"

"Of course," Masaru said, pushing past his wife and heading upstairs.

The officer followed and Mitsuki also tried to follow but the officer stopped her, "you can stay down here." Mitsuki huffed and rolled her eyes but did as the officer said.

As the two made their way down the hallway, MasRu spoke up, "Mitsuki is awful to Katsuki. She beats him and starves him. She also expects him to be perfect in school. I wanted to take this to court so many times but she constantly beat me as well and I was afraid I would lose the battle. If I did, Katsuki would be alone with that monster..."

"I see," the officer says, stopping at the same door Masaru stopped at, "I'd like to speak to your son alone if that's ok."

"Of course," Masaru says, walking back down the hall.

The officer knocked on Katsuki's door and said, "Excuse me, Bakugo Katsuki, I'm officer doo doo, can we speak?"

Katsuki opened the door a crack to peek through before opening it fully. "Am I in trouble?"

"Of course not," the officer said. "I'm here to ask you about your homelife and if you feel safe here. Do you feel comfortable talking about that?"

"My mother might hear."

"Even if she does, she can no longer hurt you."

"I already talked to my teachers about this, do I have to go through it again?"

"Unfortunately, I do need to hear it from you, however, I'm sure it's hard, you can take all the time you need."

Katsuki sat down on his bed, looking at the ground, "my mother beats me if I don't live up to her standards and barely feeds me. I have a good amount of bruises from her, not all of these are from the villains." Tears ran down his face, "I'm scared to do anything here. My father is the only person that keeps me from leaving. My friend and his mother would gladly take me in but I can't leave my father with that monster. Please, don't make me stay here."

The officer nodded, keeping his face stone cold, not showing the sympathy he was feeling for the child in front of him. The evidence from your bruises and your statement is everything I need to convict her. I'm sorry you had to repeat it but thank you for telling me, all I want to do is help you."

"Will I be able to stay with my father?"

"Yes, there's no reason you should be separated from him. I'll be taking your mother in now, you won't have anything to worry about. Stay up here until your father comes to get you," the officer says, making his way back downstairs.

Katsuki looked at the wall, what would happen now? Would they be able to contain his mother? Is he free now? Laying down, he smiled, is he a horrible person for being happy? After a few minutes, Marsaru knocked on his son's door, "Katsuki?" Opening his son's door, Marsaru walked inside, "how are you doing?"

"I don't know," Katsuki whispers, "it doesn't feel real yet." Honestly, it was weird to finally be able to talk to his father freely, it's been a while since he's been able to.

"Katsuki, there's something you need to know," he says, sitting down beside Katsuki who had sat up.

"What is it? Is it bad?"

"Your mother...she got away. She left while I was showing the officer to your room. The police are searching for her now, but you need to be careful until she's caught."

The news shocked Katsuki, his mother is still free? "I'll be careful."

Marsaru nodded, "I don't want you to feel cooped up so if you want to spend time with Midoryia you can. I know the two of you are close, or if you want to stay and have dinner together, I plan on cooking tonight."

"Midoryia gets discharged tomorrow, I'll stay home and eat with you tonight,"

Masaru's face brightened, "what would you like?"

"Anything, I just want food."

Marsaru nods, "I can do that," He stood up, "I'm going to the store, do you want anything?"

"No thanks," he shakes his head, his stomach growling at the thought of actually getting to eat. "We'll we be ok?"

"I don't know," Masaru says honestly, "the most we can do is try." Katsuki nodded and laid back down, deciding a nap was in order, he closed his eyes and fell asleep.
