Chapter eight
Bakugo was in his room doing his homework when he heard the door slam alerting him that his mother was home. Groaning internally, he continues his homework, hoping his mother wouldn't acknowledge him. About ten minutes goes by before he finally finishes his homework, hearing his mother yell at someone over the phone.
He sighed and curled up into a ball on his bed, grabbing his phone. Texting Midoryia, who was on his phone as 'unknown' so that if his mom ever looked at his phone, she won't know that he's texting Midoryia.
'Hey, it's Bakugo.'
'Hey Kacchan! What's up?'
'Mom's yelling at someone on the phone and she's being kinda loud, and I'm just trying to distract myself.'
'Ok um, what do you think of U.A. so far?'
'I heard raccoon eyes talking about my breakdown, trying to figure out who it was... '
'Raccoon eyes? Who's that?'
'The pink girl.'
'Oh, you mean Mina! She was talking about it? Doesn't she hang out with the group that you sat with at lunch?'
'Yeah, I think so.'
'Maybe you should ask her why she was talking about it. She won't know you're the one that had the breakdown, so that you can see her point of view?'
'I'll think about it but why would I want to associate myself with someone that can't mind their own damn business?'
'Maybe she was just concerned?'
'I doubt it... ' Bakugo replies. "Katsuki, get your ass down here!" Mitsuki shouts, across the house, causing Bakugo to jump, tears threatening to spill from his eyes, afraid of what he's done to upset his mother before. 'Shit, moms yelling at Mr, I have to go... ' he replies, shutting his phone off and hiding it under his pillow, heading downstairs.
"Yes?" He asks, once downstairs.
"A neighbor told me that you took twenty minutes to get home, is that true, I told you to be home in fifteen!"
"Yes it's true, sorry mom, I got lost. "
"You got lost?" Mitsuki growls, "how do you expect to be a pro? I knew you wouldn't make it in the hero industry, you worthless piece of shit!"
Bakugo bit his lip, he didn't want to upset his mother, that always ended badly. Plus, he wanted to prove his mother wrong, "sorry mother, I promise I'll do better tomorrow."
"You're damn right you will! Now go to your room! I don't want you coming out the rest of the night!" She shouts, glaring at her son.
"Yes ma'am," Bakugo squeaks, running up to his room, knowing he wouldn't be getting dinner tonight, but even when he does get to eat, he never gets to eat enough to be considered a meal anyways. Sighing, he grabbed his phone and went to Midoryia's contact.
'Hey, I'm back.'
'Is everything ok? Did she do anything?'
'No, nothing physical, I'm not getting dinner tonight, but what's new?'
'Kacchan, that's not good, you barely ate lunch today!'
'Deku, I went all summer without much food, u can barely stomach food anyways I'll be fine.'
'I'm sneaking you some dinner tonight.'
'No, it's too risky.'
'Please?'
No, if she catches you... there will be hell to pay... '
'She won't catch me, I'll make sure of it.'
'I'm not gonna be able to talk you out of this, am I?"
"Nope! I'll even ask mom to make your favorite!"
'That really is necessary.'
'Nonsense, that's what I'm going to do, I haven't really talked to her much since our second year of middle school anyways. I kinda closed myself off, she'll be thrilled, especially if I bring you up! She's been really worried about you!" Midoryia replies, not knowing that only part of that is true. Yes, Inko was worried about Bakugo, who was like a second son to her. She also didn't like the fact that he hurt Midoriya so badly, he closed himself off, away from her, Inko honestly didn't know how to feel, torn between the two feelings.
'Why did you close yourself off from your mom? I thought y'all had a great relationship?'
'Don't worry about it, the only thing that matters now is that I'm talking to her and other people again.'
'Are you sure everythings ok?' Bakugo asks, a sinking feeling in his gut, was it his fault? Is it because of what he told Midoryia back in middle school? It had to be, what else could it be?
'Yes Kacchan, I'm sure, I gotta go eat dinner, I'll text you when I'm bringing the food over!'
Midoryia put his phone on charge and headed downstairs. Inko was glad to see her son smiling and actually willing to eat dinner with her, although she never didn't force him to eat with her if he didn't want to. It's been years, ever since Bakugo told Midoryia to jump off the roof, however, Inko didn't know what he said to her son, she knows that it really got to him. "Hey Izuku, I made it extra spicy like you asked, but you aren't a fan of spicy stuff, any reason in particular that you asked for it to be this spicy?"
"It's for Kacchan, I'm taking him some after we eat."
"Why? I thought he hurt you back in middle school. That day you came home devastated because of whatever Katsuki said or did to you!"
"It's... Complicated... "Midoryia says, setting the table, "plus his mom isn't letting him eat tonight and he barely got to eat all summer!"
"Oh... I swear, I'm gonna get the police on Mitsuki soon, and to think we used to be best friends!" She mutters, turning to her son, "you know you can always talk to me, right?"
"Thanks mom, but I'm fine, trust me."
"Alright... just be careful, I don't think I can handle you closing yourself off again." Inko says, tears threatening to spill from her eyes.
"Don't worry mom, I won't." He says, not knowing what was coming his way. Sitting down to eat, Inko smiled at him. She was extremely happy that he was no longer in that funk of his. For the two years that he closed himself off, she tried to help him, and for those two years, he pushed her away. She wasn't sure how to help him though, so it never really did much good, although she did what she could. She made sure dinner got to him every night, she talked to his teachers to see if they knew what was going on and she even made sure he had everything he needed for school and at home, plus she left him message after message, letting him know he could talk to her, she just wished there was more she could have done for him.
"Mom, I promise, I'm fine."
"Alright, just remember, you can always talk to me about anything."
"Thanks mom, I'll keep that in mind."
"So how's school?"
"So far so good, but it's only the first day."
"I know that, tell me all about it though!" Inko exclaims, wanting to make up for the past two years.
"Kacchan and I are talking again, my classmates are really nice, except I think we have one that likes to gossip, gonna have to be careful about that," Midoryia knew no one could find out about his new quirk so he'd have to be careful if Mina really did like to gossip, "also, all my teachers are pro heroes and... " Midoriya trails off, starting to ramble.
Inko chuckled and listened to her son, even if she didn't know what he was talking about, glad to see him smiling again. Once they had both finished eating, Midoryia pulled out his phone, texting Bakugo. 'Hey Kacchan, I'm bringing over dinner and something to drink as well! Unlock your window.''
'Ok, but please for both of our sakes, don't get caught!'
'Don't worry, I'll be careful, I promise!' Midoryia replies, putting his phone on vibrate before heading over to Bakugo's house, not even a minute from his. He used his quirk to jump up to Bakugo's window, opening it, slipping in, and closing it back."Hey, I even had mom make it extra spicy for you!"
"You don't like spicy stuff though, what did you eat?"
"I dealt with it and ate it anyways, as long as you like it, that's all I care about!" Midoryia exclaims, causing Bakugo to roll his eyes, not really having the energy to argue, hungrily taking what Midoryia brought, eating it slowly so that he doesn't make himself sick. Midoryia handed him the bottle of tea he bought as well, plopping himself down on Bakugo's bed.
"Of course!" Midoryia says, quietly. Bakugo picked at his nails a bit, he wanted to see if Midoryia wanted to hang out since his mom tends to not associate with him, but there was always the off chance that she would walk into his room unannounced if she got upset. Sighing, he sat on the bed beside Midoriya. "What;s wrong?"
"Nothing, just debating something," he mutters, finally making his decision, letting his heart overpower his brain.
"Debating what?"
"Do you wanna hang out here for a bit? It gets lonely here, I don't really get to interact with others outside of school."
"I'd love to! Although, I thought you were worried about your mom?"
"Nah, she said she didn't want to see me for the rest of the night, we should be fine."
"Alright then," Midoryia says, laying down, "what do you wanna do?"
Um, I'm not sure, we haven't hung out like this in a while."
"Well, we could watch T.V. or talk, it's up to you though, it's your house."
"I can put on an All Might movie if you want?"
"That sounds good," Midoryoa nods, a smile appearing on his face. Bakugo nods and turns on their favorite All Might movie. Laying down on the bed, they both got under the comforters, getting comfy.
As the movie plays, the two of them get more and more comfortable, slowly and unconsciously scooting closer to each other. Neither of them realized it, but they both wanted to be closer to each other.
Midoryia watched the movie closely, ready to rant about what they got wrong as soon as the movie ended as not to be rude. Bakugo watched the T.V. in awe, All Might was his hero, although he would never admit that to anyone, well except maybe Midoriya. He trusted Midoriya with his life, even though they had a rough past. Although, neither of them knew what was coming their way in terms of their relationship.
As the night went on, the two teens both started to fall asleep. Trying to stay awake long enough to at least finish the movie, Midoryia was blinking rapidly as he felt his head droop every now and then but it wasn't really doing any good, it was just making him look weird. Bakugo on the other hand, wasn't even trying to fight it, he normally goes to bed at 8:30, his body wouldn't like him very much if he tried to stay awake any longer. Closing his eyes, he slips into a peaceful slumber, thankful Midoryia was here, forgetting about the threat known as his mother.
Midoryia looked over at Bakugo and smiled, he was glad he was spending time with Bakugo again. The movie ended about thirty minutes after Bakugo fell asleep. Midoryia didn't really want to leave though, so he just curled up beside Bakugo and closed his eyes, falling asleep.
Meanwhile, Masaru had just got home and his first thought was to make sure his son wasn't hurt, but unfortunately Mitsuki stopped him. "Where do you think you're going?"
"To check on Katsuki, I haven't seen him all day!" Masaru exclaims, nervously.
"No! You're going to make me dinner, oh and Katuski doesn't get any tonight."
Masaru sighs, he knows he has to come home and make dinner, she makes him do it every night when he gets home from work. "Why doesn't Katsuki get any? Mitsuki, you barely let him eat all summer, you're starving him!"
Mitsuki glared at him, she couldn't believe he would dare talk back to her. She brought her hand back and slapped Masaru across the face, "don't ever talk back to me again!"
Masaru's eyes widened, "you little bitch!" Unfortunately though, this was one of the worst things he could have said.
"What?" She asks, a dark aura surrounding her.
"I said you're a bitch! Do you need to get your ears cleaned? You're a bitch! You slap your husband, you starve your own child, and you've done way worse, so yes, I called you a bitch!"
Masaru didn't know where this sense of courage came from but he felt proud of himself for standing up to Mitsuki, although that proudness was short-lived when Mitsuki punched him in the gut, "you need to learn your place!"
"Yes ma'am," Masaru whispers, clutching his stomach, doubling over in pain. After a couple minutes of breathing heavily, he manages to drag himself to the kitchen, mentally cursing at himself for being too weak to stand up to his wife completely, he just couldn't bring himself to stand up to her! He figured it was because somewhere deep down he still loved her, hoping she would change even though he knew that would never happen. He doesn't understand how deep down he could still have any love for her, not after what she's done to him and Katsuki.
Masaru sighed as he started dinner, he wanted to sneak into Katsuki's room to see him but he knew he'd be risking a lot, Mitsuki has eyes everywhere, she knows everything. He sighed, knowing he needs proof of how Mitsuki treats them so he could get custody of Katsuki, but could he afford to start renting a new apartment? He also knew that in a custody battle without proof, Mitsuki would win everytime, not because she's the one with the money but because she's the woman. They say women have a maternal instinct since they're the ones that give birth. People don't think men have that in them whatsoever, causing society to think men need women to raise a child, hence why women tend to always get custody, unless the men can prove that the woman is unfit to raise a child.
Smelling something burnt, Masaru gasped as he shook his head, the food was burning! Quickly turning off the stove, moving the food off the eye, sighing internally. He must have got lost in thought while thinking about divorcing his abusive wife. He hoped Mitsuki didn't smell the burnt food as he tried to salvage it with seasoning. He didn't feel like getting beat again. Masaru hummed softly to himself as he worked on getting the burnt taste out of the food.
About ten minutes later, Masaru called Mitsuki down for dinner and began to quickly set the table. Once she finally sat down at the table, her food was already in front of her and she immediately started eating, only to frown after the first bite, "this tastes different, what did you do? Are you trying to poison me?" She hisses.
"No, of course not dear! My co-workers just suggested I try a different seasoning!" Masaru lies, hoping she doesn't realize that in reality it's actually just burnt.
Still glaring, she continues to eat, "make sure to run it by me first next time!"
"R-right, of course!" Marsau exclaims, sighing internally as he also sits down to eat. The two of them ate in silence, they don't normally engage in conversation together, however this is fine with him since he never cares to converse with her since he hates her.
Once Marsau was done eating, he put his plate in the sink before heading upstairs, wanting to check on his son. Thankfully Mituski was still eating so he had a few minutes before she was done. Walking quietly over to Katsuki's door, he opened it as quietly as possible, peeking into his room. Marsau smiled when he saw his son sleeping peacefully, but frowned when he also saw green hair. The only green haired people they knew were the Midoryias.
Marsau didn't have a problem with this but he knew Mitsuki would, she hated the Midoriyas and from what he heard last, Katsuki wasn't on good terms with Midoryia! What changed? He wondered to himself, sighing to himself, he knew he had to make sure stayed out of Katsuki's room. Whatever the situation was, Marsau just wanted Katsuki to be happy. Marsau made a mental note to ask Katsuki about it later, he wouldn't be in trouble or anything, he was just curious.
He quietly closed the door and made his way back to the kitchen to get started on the dishes. Once downstairs, he starts on the dishes, smiling to himself. He was glad Katsuki seemed happy, he hasn't seen his son sleep soundly like that in a while, he tends to have nightmares every night, maybe it was because of Midoryia? Plus, he has been wanting to get the two boys together since middle school, he could tell they'd both turn out gay and thought they'd make a cute couple, afterall, they have known each other since childhood!
