Chapter 23
Aizawa and Mic got in the car to head to their first house, Tenya Iida. "I'm worried about Bakugo and Midoyia," Aizawa admits as he turns the key in the ignition.
"I know hon," Mic says, "they'll be ok, we'll save both of them."
Aizawa nods as he starts the drive to Iida's house, "I really hope we can."
While Aizawa and Mic were doing house visits about the dorms, Katsuki was out searching for Izuku. Unfortunately, he wasn't getting anywhere. There was no way to track his phone and there was nothing that indicated he left any clues as to where he could be. He only had a few hours before he had to be home for the home visit with his teachers about the dorms. Sitting down on a bench in the park, he stared at his phone, "where are you?"
Izuku was in the main area of the league's hideout scowling. They wouldn't let him stay in his room, Dabi had already had his way with him for staying in his room all day and found out some things about Izuku he didn't want anyone to know about. "Is this what you do when you aren't committing crimes?" He asks, sighing. "Just sit around?"
"We can't exactly go out in public unless we have disguises on," Shigarki shrugs, "and soon, it'll be the same for you, once your name gets out there."
"No, it won't," he replies.
"Sure, whatever you say," Shigarki replies, scratching his neck.
Izuku pulled out his phone and looked at Katsuki's text thread, no one would know if he sent him a message, right? He doesn't want to leave him completely.
Izuku- 'Hey, BTW, I'm alive.'
Kacchan- 'Izuku! Where are you? I'll come get you, please!'
Izuku- 'I can't do that, I'm sorry.'
Kacchan- 'Izuku...'
He didn't reply back but instead switched off his phone and looked off down the hallway, staring at nothing.
Katsuki stood up and ran back to his house, knowing his teachers would be there soon, he could show them the messages and hopefully track Izuku's phone!
He managed to get to his house right as his teachers were pulling up. "Mr. Aizawa, Present Mic," he says once they're out of the car.
"What is it Bakugo? Is everything ok?" Mic asks.
"Izuku sent me a couple of messages! Is it possible for you to track him that way?"
Mic's eyes widened, "he messaged you? Can you get him to do it anytime? Did he give you any information?"
"No, I don't think I can get him to do it anytime and he wouldn't give me any information. All he said was that he's alive."
"Unfortunately, we can only track him if he's actively messaging you," Aizawa replies.
Bakugo looks down at the ground, "oh," he says, turning towards the door, "let's just go inside and get this meeting over with."
"It'll be ok," Aizawa says, putting a hand on his shoulder, "trust me kid, we'll find him."
"Yeah," he says, wiping his eyes, "I'm sure we will." Putting on his face, he walks inside his house, "dad, my teachers are here!"
Marsaru walked out of the kitchen, hanging up his apron on his way, "sorry, I must have lost track of time. I'm Bakugo Marsaru."
"Nice to meet you Mr. Bakugo," Aizawa says. "I'm Aizawa Shota and this is Yamada Hizashi."
"Please sit, make yourself at home."
"Thank you," Mic says, sitting down on the couch with Aizawa sitting beside him. Keeping their hands on the couch, their fingers intertwined with each other's, a small smile on Aizawa's face.
It was easier to keep it a secret so people like Midnight or Mrs. Joke didn't have anything to say about it. Plus, what would people say if they knew that two teachers who are also both pro heroes who work together constantly are married? They wouldn't be allowed to work together anymore!
"So," Marsaru says, sitting down beside Bakugo on the other couch, "where do you want to start?"
"Well, the main reason for this visit is because we're opening up dorms at the school. These forms here give you all the information you might need and we can answer any other questions you might have as well."
Marsaru nods and picks up the papers, also looking over at his son, Katsuki. "What do you want to do?"
Bakugo looks at his dad then at his teachers, "I'm not sure, I finally have a chance to connect with you," he sighs.
"Katsuki," Marsaru says, smiling softly. "I think this would be a good opportunity for you. You'll have more time to spend with your friends and I won't have to worry about your mother showing up."
"Do you really think she'd show up here? If so, I can't just leave you alone! What if something happens to you like it did Izuku!"
"Katsuki, Izuku ran away," Mic says, frowning.
"No he didn't!" He says, standing up abruptly. "I know Izuku! He wouldn't just run away like that!"
"There's no proof that anyone kidnapped him, he even left a note," Mic sighs, "I'm sorry son, but at this moment, we can't prove anything."
A glare forms on Katsuki's face, his fists clenching, "I've known Izuku since we were toddlers! He wouldn't just run away after writing some crappy note! We have to find him, he could be hurt." His voice started to break as he stared at his teachers, "no offense," he starts, "but you've only known him for like a month!" He takes a deep breath and walks off towards his room, needing a minute to himself.
"I'm sorry about him," Marsaru starts, "he's just upset about Izuku, he's really worried about him."
"It's fine," Aizawa says, shaking his head, "we completely understand."
"Do you want to go talk to him?" Mic asks.
"No, it's best to let him cool down when he gets like this, I'll check on him afterwards."
"Alright then," Aizawa nods as Marsaru picks up the documents, scanning through them.
"Do you think the dorms will be secure?" He asks, glancing at the two men on the couch.
"Yes, they're being built with the most expensive technology that's been created," Aizawa reassures Marsaru.
Marsaru smiles, "then as long as Katsuki will agree, I think it's a great idea," he says, signing the documents. "Is there anything else we need to discuss while you're here?"
"We think Bakugo needs to maybe take up a hobby or something." Mic puts in before Aizawa could say anything.
"A hobby? He works out a lot," Marsaru points out.
"Thats good for him but we think he needs something that will help him take his mind off of things. I think he was using Midoriya to help him do that and with him missing right now, he seems to be falling into his own mind."
Marsaru nods, "I'll definitely talk to him about it, I've been so busy with work, picking up extra shifts to make up for the loss of income."
Aizawa nods, "if y'all ever hit a bad spot, we have programs at the school that can help."
"Thanks but I think it'll be ok," Marsaru smiles.
Mic nods and both his and Aizawa's hands come apart before standing up, "we'll be going then."
"You don't have to hide it," Marsaru says, standing up as well.
"Hide what?" Aizawa asks, raising a brow.
"The two of y'all," Marsaru says, "I've been around Katsuki and Izuku for fifteen years and watched them try to hide it as well, I know what hiding it looks like."
Mic blushes and clears his throat, "well thank you but since we're colleagues, it's best to stay a secret, we would appreciate it if you don't tell anyone."
"Of course, I hope I didn't overstep," Marsaru smiles.
"No, not at all," Mic reassures him. "We'll be going now, have a good day."
Marsaru shut the door behind them before walking up the stairs to his son's room, knocking on his door. "Katsuki, can I come in?"
"Sure," he calls back, his tone sounding annoyed.
Marsaru opened the door and walked inside, sitting down beside Katsuki on the bed. "Hey, how are you doing?"
"Fine," he shrugs, not giving Marsaru much to work with.
"Look, I know you're worried, so is everyone else but they don't have anything to go off of except that note."
"He didn't run away!" Katsuki exclaims, his voice raising an octave but no higher. Only being able to handle a certain level of loudness, he sighs and sinks back down onto the bed, "I know him better than anyone other than auntie Inko and she agrees that he wouldn't have ran away."
"I believe you, but right now there's not much to go on, you have to give them proper time to investigate.
Katsuki sighs, "I'm just so worried about him, I mean he's texted me a few times but it's just to let me know he's alive! I just wish he would give me some more information! I'm worried about him dad, I miss him so much."
"I know honey, just give them time to look for him, ok? Why don't you try taking up a hobby that doesn't have to be a pro hero?"
"Like what? My entire life has been to become a pro hero."
"I'm not sure, maybe you could try reading or doing puzzles, something that is just for you to take your mind off of everything that's going on right now. It's been a roller coaster here lately."
"I'll think about it," he says, moving to lay down. "Can I have some time alone?"
"Of course," he says, standing up. "Let me know if you need anything," he says, walking out of the room, closing the door behind him.
Katsuki sighed as he stared at his wall, where is Izuku and why isn't he here with him? Feeling something wet on his cheeks, he wiped the tears away, his vision becoming blurry as he started to cry harder. Sobs poured out of him as he pulled the covers up over his head.
Izuku groaned as he banged his head against the couch in the hideout, All For One was busy lecturing him about their latest job. He'd sent Izuku and Shigarki out to steal some stuff for the hideout and Izuku secretly left money for everything they'd bought, unfortunately, Shigarki saw him and told on him. Honestly he wasn't really listening to his 'dad', his mind is mostly on Kacchan.
"Are you listening to me?" All For One growls.
"Totally," he mutters, rolling his eyes.
"You will respect me young man!"
"No, I don't think I will! Respect is earned and you most definitely haven't earned it and you never will, I fucking hate you and want to go home!"
All For One narrowed his eyes, smacking Izuku across the face, "you do not speak to me like that."
Izuku blinked and turned his face to look at his 'father.' "You just hit me." Standing up from his spot on the couch, one of his quirks, Black Whip, immediately shot out, wrapping itself around Izuku. "You don't touch me," he says, turning around, heading off to his room.
All For One turns around with a chuckle, a smirk growing on his face as he walks over to Shigarki, Izuku is going to regret his little blow up.
Once he was safely in his room, Black Whip deactivated itself and he flopped onto the bed, looking at his phone, he shouldn't text him again, it would just cause more pain for both of them. Honestly, Izuku wondered how badly this affected Kacchan, how much does he care for him? They've been friends since they were children, but their game has gotten out of hand and it's caused so much tension between them. Then theirs that kiss that happened between them while he was comforting Kacchan. Everything is so confusing right now and all he wants is to go home and be with his Kacchan but that can never happen, not while his 'father' is still alive. He'll have to figure out something, he can't let anything happen to Kacchan, no matter what, even if he has to become like the awful people he's forced to be around.
Aizawa and Mic drove up to Kirishima's house and knocked on his door. Kirishima's mom opened up the door and smiled, "welcome, "I'm Kamujaki Kirishima and this is Tashika Kirishima" she says, gesturing to her husband.
"Nice to meet the both of you, I'm Shota Aizawa, and this is Hizashi Yamada," Aizawa explains.
"You're Eijiro's teachers, correct?" Tashika asks.
"Two of them, I'm his homeroom teacher and Yamada is his English teacher."
"Why don't the two of you come in," Kamujaki smiles, opening the door wider.
Aizawa and Mic follow Kirishima's parents into the living room, sitting down on the couch. Tashika stands up, "I'll go and get Eijiro," he says, walking out of the room and towards his bedroom. Knocking on the door, Tashika waits a minute before knocking again. "Eijiro?" He asks, opening the door and peaking inside. Frowning when he didn't see Eijiro, he closed the door and made his way to the mini gym. Opening the door up to the gym, he peeked inside, "Eijiro?"
"Oh, Mr. Kirishima," Karminari says, glancing over at Tashika. "He fell asleep last night and hasn't woken up yet. I didn't want to wake him up, he's sleeping so peacefully."
"Karminari, it's nice to see you," he says, eyeing the two. Kirisima was laying on Karminari's lap with Karminari's arm wrapped around his shoulders. "Your teachers are here, do you mind waking Eijiro up for me? We'll be waiting for him in the living room and you're welcome to either join us or hangout until they leave, it's up to you."
"Sure, I'll wake him up, and thank you for the invitation," Karminari smiles, as Tashika leaves the room, making his way back to the living room. Karminari looks down at Kirishima, smiling softly. "Kiri, wake up." He whispers, shaking him slightly.
"Ugh," Kiri groans as his eyes flutter open, "Karminari? What time is it?"
"It's nine in the morning," Karminari replies.
"Holy hell, we're late for school!" Kirishima exclaims, jumping up.
"No, we aren't. They sent out an email today informing us that they were canceling classes for the day so that they could do home visits about the dorms. "
"Oh, ok, that's a relief," Kirishima says, sitting back down beside Karminari. "So, how long was I asleep for?"
"I'm not sure, I lost track of time but around nine hours I think. Also Mr. Aizawa and Present Mic are here, they're waiting for you in the living room," Karminari says, standing up.
"Oh ok, I'll head on up there then, do you want to come with me?"
"I think I'm going to head out, I'm sure they'll be at my house at some point today. I had fun working out with you though, I'll see you at school tomorrow?"
"Yeah, I'll be there," Kiri smiles, watching Karminari leave the room. Knowing he didn't have time to think about what had happened, he made his way to the living room, catching the tail end of Karminari as he was walking outside. "Mr. Aizawa, Present Mic," Kirishima nods, sitting down beside his parents.
"So, what can we do for you today?" Kamujaki asks.
"Well, we're here to talk to you three about the dorms that U.A. is building. They are guaranteed to provide safe environments for your son and everything he needs will be provided for him. With the recent villain attacks, we feel like it would be safer for them at the dorms due to all the security measures we will be taking," Aizawa explains.
"Would he be able to come home and visit?" Kamujaki asks, frowning. "I don't think I would be able to stay away from him for that long, he's my pride and joy.
"Of course he can," Present Mic chimes in. "We would never keep the kids stuck inside the dorms indefinitely. The only non-negotiable for the dorms is that there'll be a curfew unless they want to stay the night at home."
"What do you think, Eijiro?" Tashika asks, glancing over at him.
"I think it's a good idea, it would be great seeing my friends more anyways."
"Will the dorms be separate when it comes to males and females?" Kamujaki asks.
"Each child will have their own room, girls on the first floor and boys on the second," Aizawa chimes in.
"Honey, I don't think we have anything to worry about with Eijiro mixing with the opposite gender."
"What?" Eijiro asks, blushing. "Is this really something we should be talking about right now?"
"Why do you say that?" Kamujaki asks, glancing at her husband.
"No reason!" Eijiro chimes in quickly, "why don't we talk about this later, yeah? I'm sure Mr. Aizawa and Present Mic have a few other things they need to talk about."
"All we need is for the two of you to sign some forms if you agree to let him live in the dorms," Present Mic says.
Both of his parents look at each other, nodding to each other before reading through and signing the papers.
"Alright, unless y'all have any more questions for us, we should be going. We have a few more visits to do."
"Well, thank you for coming, " Kamujaki says, standing up.
"Thank you for giving us the time to talk," Mic nods, following Aizawa to the door, "you have a very bright son."
"Thank you," Kamujaki smiles, opening the door for the two teachers. After the two leave, she turns to face her husband and son, "what was that about earlier?"
"Well, I- uh," Eijiro stutters, "you see...I should go," he says, attempting to make a break for it.
"Nope, I want to know what you're talking about," she says, grabbing her son's shoulder. He sighs and looks at his parents, "I think dad already figured it out but I'm gay."
"He also has a boyfriend," Tashika chimes in.
"What? No I don't!" Eijiro exclaims, "What are you talking about?"
"Karminari," he says. "They were sleeping together in the gym."
"What? Eijiro, what were you thinking?" Kamujaki exclaims!
"We weren't sleeping together! We took a break from working out and we both fell asleep!" Eijiro exclaims, "I don't even think Karminari is gay!"
"There's only one way to know," Tashika grins.
"I- no, I can't ask him that! It's way too soon!"
"Alright, well then give it some time and then ask."
Eijiro nods, "maybe in a few months. I'm going to go take a shower, I fell asleep before I could last night."
Tashika and Kaumjaki make their way back to the couch to hang out while Eijiro makes his way towards the bathrooms. Getting into the shower, Eijiro sighs and leans his head back against the wall. Is Karminari even gay? He groans as he starts washing his hair, living in the dorms is going to make things so awkward if he doesn't play his cards right, he has to figure out if Karminari likes him without asking him directly, that way if Karminari says no, their friendship isn't ruined! After he finished his shower, he put on some music and started his hair routine.
Denki Karminari made it home right as his teachers were pulling up to his house. "Mr. Aizawa, Present Mic," he says as they get out of the car, "I'll let my parents know you're here." He says, hurrying inside to tell his parents. "Mom, dad, my teachers are here."
"Hey son, did you have a good time with Kirishima?" His father, Kenji Karminari asks, walking into the living room.
"I did, we ended up falling asleep while we were taking a break," he shrugs.
"That sounds like a good workout then," Narihana says, walking into the living room.
"It was," Denki confirms, opening the door for his teachers.
"Good afternoon, Mr. and Mrs. Karminari," Present Mic says, stepping inside. Aizawa followed inside, shutting the door behind him.
"Please, sit down," Narihana says, gesturing to the couch, a smile on her face.
"Thank you," Mic says as both he and Aizawa sit down.
"So," Narihana says, sitting down across from them. "To what do we owe the pleasure of this visit?"
"Well, U.A. is implementing dorms into the school to help keep our students safe with all the recent issues that's been going on. Here are some forms if y'all decide to let your son live in the dorms."
Narihana looks over at Kenji, "I think it's a good idea. It'll get him closer to becoming a pro-hero."
"I agree, especially since it'll let him focus on his friends as well as being a pro hero, plus he won't be here, it's a win for everyone!" Kenji says.
It felt like a knife dug deep into Karminari's heart as he plastered a smile on his face, "yeah, it'd be great to have more time with my friends," he says, clearing his throat.
Aizawa glanced at Karminari's dad before glancing at Denki, did his father really say that in front of him? "Karminari is a great kid," he says, focusing on Kenji. "If the two of you sign these papers, we would be happy to have him in the dorms. If you have any questions, Present Mic can answer them for you. I need to talk to Karminari about something while we're here." Standing up, he gestured for Karminari to follow him out the front door.
Kenji quickly grabbed the pen and signed his name, causing Nahihana to sigh before doing the same, "this will be good for him, it'll give him some freedom to become the type of pro hero he wants to be," she says, quietly trying to convince herself that this was the right thing. She always hated how her husband acted around their son but she loves him too much to leave him.
"Mr. Aizawa, is everything ok? Am I in trouble?" Karminari asks, shutting the door behind him.
"In trouble? No, of o=course not! Why would you think that?"
Shrugging, he looks at the ground, "I get into trouble a lot."
Aizawa sighs, "no, you aren't in trouble. I wanted to make sure you're ok. What your father said in there wasn't ok and I saw the way you reacted to it."
Karminari shrugs, "I'm honestly used to it, my mom says it's because he never wanted kids but he does still love me just in his own way."
"That's not an excuse for what he said in there. Does he hurt you in any way?"
"You mean physically? No, never! He might not like me but he'd never hurt me like that!"
"What about emotionally?" Aizawa asks, frowning.
"Yeah, my feelings get hurt quite a bit but it's ok, everyone gets their feelings hurt by their parents at some point. Don't worry, I will be fine." He says, opening the door to head back inside.
Aizawa followed him inside and over to Mic who was standing up, "if that's everything, I think it's time to hit the next house."
"Have a good day," Mic waves as both him and Aizawa make their way out the door and into the car. "What did you talk to Karminari about?"
"I wanted to make sure he was ok after that comment from his father." Aizawa replies as he starts the car.
"Yeah, I didn't like what his father said about him," Mic agrees. "That was incredibly uncalled for."
"I think he'll be better off in the dorms."
Mic nods, "we have one more house, right?"
"The Todoroki's," Aizawa says, putting directions into the GPS. "I made sure we were the ones to do his home visit so we could assess the situation."
Mic nods, "alright," he says, pulling off in the direction the GPS instructed. Along the way, Aizawa made some notes in the files that they had about some of the students they'd visited. Once their twenty minute drive was over, both of the teachers got out of the car and knocked on the door.
"Can I help you?" Fuyumi Todoroki asks, opening the door.
"Hello, we're Shoto Todoroki's teachers and we're here for a home visit. Are your parent's home?"
"Oh," she frowns, "come on in, I'll get my father and Shoto," she says, walking towards their training room. Aizawa and Mic follow Fuyumi into the living room where she parted to get his father out of the training room where he was forcing Shoto to train until he passed out.
"Dad," Fuyumi says, poking her head into the training room, "Shoto's teachers are here for that parent meeting the school informed us about."
Endeavor sighs and glances at Shoto who was barely standing on his own two feet, his face extremely pale before looking at Fuyumi. "Let them know we'll be there shortly." As soon as she was gone, Endeavor looked at his son, "drink some water and clean yourself up, be ready in five minutes."
Shoto glared at his father before slowly walking over to his water bottle that was still full. He had been training for around seven hours now since he didn't have class today and he was dead tired. Unfortunately, he had to sit and endure a meeting that he was way too tired to deal with.
After chugging half the bottle, he let a little bit fall on his face before grabbing a towel and wiping it off. Once he felt a tiny bit better, he trudged out of the training room and into the living room, sitting down on one of the sofas.
"Now that we're all here, I'll start off," Aizawa says, pushing a pack of papers towards Endeavor. "The school is implementing dorms for the students, principal Nezu thinks it would be safer for the kids with all the recent villain attacks from the League of Villains. With your permission, Shoto would be provided with everything he needs and would be protected."
Shoto didn't dare let his hope and excitement show at the possibility of getting away from his father and the brutal training and beatings he's forced to endure at home.
"Are you saying I can't protect my own son?" Endeavor roars, "me? The number one hero!"
"No, that's not what we're saying," Aizawa says, keeping his face monotone. "We're offering this to all the students, not just your son. If you sign it, he'll have more time with friends, access to a training arena, and he'll be at school so it'll be less of a hassle getting there."
The idea of Shoto having access to a training arena all day is what finally convinced Endeavor to sign the papers, "make sure he trains every single day."
Present Mic nods and turns to Shoto, "would you step outside with me for a second?"
"Uh sure," he says, speaking for the first time since this meeting had started. Standing up, he followed Mic outside, causing Endeavor to scowl at the two of them. "What can I help you with?"
"Are you ok? You look extremely pale."
"Yeah, I'm fine, I've just been training today."
"How long were you training for? Did you eat today?"
"Not that long, only about seven hours, I normally eat after training."
"Seven hours?" Mic frowns, "was that your choice? That's extremely unhealthy."
Shoto shrugs as he grabs the door handle, "I'll be fine, thank you for worrying though," he says, walking back inside.
Mic followed him back inside and Aizawa stood up, "I think we're done here, thank you for your time." The two of them made their ways outside of the house and into their car. Letting out a deep breath, Aizawa turns to Mic. "There's definitely something going on in that house. I'm glad that we talked Endeavor into letting him into the dorms but I think we definitely need to intervene with that family."
"I agree," Mic says, turning the key and pulling off into the street. "When I took Todoroki outside, he told me he'd been training for seven hours today and that he only eats after training. When I asked him if it was his choice, he avoided the question and his face was extremely pale."
"I'll start building a case tonight, unfortunately, I don't think there's much we can do for Karminari, he doesn't seem to be in a bad situation, just an unloving father," Aizawa replies.
Mic pulls into their driveway, turning off the car. The two of them headed into the house, Eri running up to greet them. "Daddy, papa!" She exclaims with a smile on her face.
"Welcome home, I made dinner," Shinso calls over his shoulder, his eyes not moving from the TV."
"You didn't have to do that," Aizwa says, glancing over at his son.
"I didn't have anything better to do," he shrugs, "Eri and I already ate."
"We really appreciate you," Mic smiles, heading into the kitchen.
Following his husband, Aizawa sighs, "I don't want Shinso thinking he has to do everything around the house. I want him to know that he's allowed to be a kid."
"He is a kid," Mic reassures his husband, "he just also enjoys helping out. Plus it's not like he does it everyday. He knows we love him and it's nothing like the situations we saw today, trust me."
"I know," he sighs as they both sit down at the kitchen table to eat their dinner that was sitting in the microwave for them. Rubbing his temples, Aizawa takes a deep breath. "I have way too much to do tonight, grading and a case to build, one of the most difficult ones at that."
"You don't have to do it alone, I'm here to help," Mic gives him a small smile, placing a hand on Aizawa's hand.
Aizawa looked up and smiled at Mic before going back to his plate of food, letting the thoughts disappear, if only for a little while, he needed to clear his mind.
