Chapter 22
Karminari woke up with his head in Kirishima’s lap. Kirishima's arm was wrapped around Karminari tightly. Blushing softly, Karminari wiggled out of Kirishima's grip and laid him down on the floor to give him a better sleeping position. “What should I do now?” He mutters to himself as he sits back down beside Kirishima, a smile on his face. Pulling out his phone, he created a group chat with Bakugo, Mina, Jiro, Sero, and Candy.
Karminari- ‘I don't know what to do in the situation I'm in.’
Mina- ‘What's the situation?’
Karminari- ‘I’m at a guy's house and I feel asleep. Well when I woke up, my head was laying on his lap and he's asleep now.’
Mina- ‘OMG, Karminri! Who is it? Do we know them?’
Sero- ‘Didn’t you go to Kirishima’s house to work out with him?’
Mina- ‘😱 Is it Kirishima?’
Karminari- ‘Who it is doesn't matter, I just need to know if I should leave before he wakes up or if I should stay and wait.’
Jiro- ‘If you like the guy, definitely stay. It hurts when people just up and leave like that.’
Candy- ‘Mina isn't going to let this go until she figures out who it is.’
Mina- ‘I’m so curious!’
Karminari- ‘I’ll tell you if it works out in my favor. I'll see y'all at school tomorrow.’
Karminari puts his phone away and looks over at Kirishima, “looks like I'm staying until you wake up.” He lays down beside Kirishima on the floor, getting as close as he can without bumping into him and closes his eyes, letting himself fall back asleep. Kirishima groans as he pulls Karminari closer to him, his arm wrapping around the blond tightly.
Later that night around midnight, Midoriya jolted awake when he sensed someone around him. “Who's there?” He asks, looking around, seeing no one.
“Hello son,” All For One says, appearing beside Midoyia in a flash.
“All For One?” Midoyia asks, jumping up. “What are you doing here?”
“I prefer the term dad.”
“You don't deserve that term! How are you even here? I thought you couldn't be off that machine!”
“That's a lie I created so that I could watch from behind the scenes.”
“Why are you here?” Midoyia asks again, crossing his arms.
“I want you to join the league.”
“Why would I do that? I'm working towards becoming a hero!”
“If you don't join me willingly, I will destroy Katsuki Bakugo!”
“Don't you dare lay a finger on him!” Midoyia exclaims, a dark aura surrounding him.
“I have Shigarki on standby, ready to disintegrate him with one touch.”
“You're bluffing!”
“Am I? Go see for yourself,” he says, gesturing towards the window. Midoyia doesn't respond as he walks towards the window and peeks out, looking left towards Bakugo's house. He gasped when he saw Shigarki halfway out of a portal with his fingers ready to touch Bakugo.
Midoyia turns back to face All For One, “please don't hurt him.”
“All you have to do is write a note letting everyone know that you're going on a secret training mission and cut everyone off.”
Midoriya glares at All For One, “fuck you!”
“Well, are you going to join? Or are you going to let your precious boyfriend disintegrate?"
Midoyia thought back to earlier that day when he and Bakugo had missed, it was the best moment of his life! He isn't sure when it happened but at some point, he'd fallen in love with the blond. He hated his reactions to situations, but unfortunately in his mind, it's better to feel physical pain than mental pain, he can't go through what he went through when they were kids, not again. Keeping it physical is the only way to keep him sane. Bakugo is his reason to live right now, he can't let him down. He looks up at All For One, “don't hurt Kacchan and you have yourself a deal.”
“Perfect,” All For One says, grinning. “Write a note for your mom and make sure it's believable then we’ll leave.”
“First, call out Shigarki.”
All For One rolls his eyes, “I already did, telepathic quirk.”
Midoyia sighs and grabs a piece of paper and pen from his desk and writes out a note, hoping it would be believable, he can't risk anything.
Midoyia set the pen down on the table and turned to face All For One, “let's go.”
“Let me see the note to make sure you didn't add anything in,” he says, holding out his hand.
Midoyia rolls his eyes and hands him the paper, crossing his arms as he waits for All For One to finish. Once he got the paper back, Midoyia sets it down on his desk where he knows his mom will see it and follows All For One into a portal that had opened up moments before thanks to Kurogiri.
On the other side of the portal, the league was carrying on as normal, Kurogiri was behind the bar, Shigarki was sitting at the bar with a drink in hand, Toga was reading on the couch and Dabi was entertaining himself with his fire quirk. “Everyone, please welcome my son to the league, he will be joining us, no more hero stuff for him.”
“Are you sure we can trust him?” Dabi asks.
“Of course we can trust him, he is my son after all…now make sure he feels welcomed please.”
Midoyia stepped forward and looked around nervously. He really didn't want to be here but he didn't really have a choice. “Is there somewhere I can sleep?”
“Your room is going to be the first door on the right.” Shigarki speaks out.
Midoyia nods and walks towards the room, shutting and locking the door behind him. He slid down onto the floor as soon as the door was locked and put his face in his knees, what is he going to do now? He's not a villain, he's a hero! He won't get to see Kacchan anymore…or his mother. “Please be safe, Kacchan.”
The next morning, Inko had breakfast ready and called for her son to come down. “Izuku,” she calls again a few minutes later, frowning. He's normally ready by now, what's going on? Is he sick? She makes her way towards Izuku’s room and knocks on his door, “Izuku, honey, are you feeling ok?”
When no answer came, she opened his door and peeked inside, not seeing anyone in there. She walked inside and switched on the light, “where did that boy go? It's not like him to just disappear!”
She looked around his room for any clues she might be able to find, stopping when she noticed a note on his desk.
Dear mom, I have the opportunity to go on a secret training mission. I'm leaving tonight. I'm sorry to do this on such short notice but it's necessary. Please tell Kacchan that I love him and let All Might know that I'll be back some day, just not sure when. I hope you can forgive me, love you.
Your son, Izuku.
Her eyes widen as she reads it over and over, what is this? He wouldn't just disappear on a training mission unless All Might or his teachers sent him specifically! Katsuki needs to see this note, he might have some clue to where Izuku might be, they're basically attached at the hip! Inko turns out his light and heads to the front door, locking it once she exits the house. She walks a few houses over before knocking on the door, clutching the note in her fist.
Marsaru opens the door looking extremely tired, “morning Inko, is everything ok?”
“No, it's not ok,” she says, tears falling down her face, “is Katsuki still here?”
“Yeah, he is. What's going on? Is Izuku ok?”
“I don't know…can I speak to Katsuki?”
“Of course, come inside and make yourself comfortable, I'll go get him,” he says, walking off. Inko thanks him and sits down on the couch, re-reading the note over and over again.
“Katsuki,” Marsaru says, knocking on the door, “are you up?”
“I'm up, I'll be leaving shortly,” he replies from inside his room.
“Inko is here, she needs to talk to you about Izuku.”
“Is he ok?” He asks, as the door swings open.
“I'm not sure, she doesn't really know what's going on and thinks you might be able to help.”
“Why would I be able to help?” Katsuki asks, confused.
“I'm not sure, do you feel like talking to her?”
He nods, “yeah, I'll be down in just a minute,” he says, shutting the door. He turns around and faces the window. Did Izuku do something he shouldn't have done after the kiss yesterday? Is this about the kiss? How he longed to kiss him again and again, never stopping. Taking a deep breath, he opens the door and walks downstairs, spotting Inko on the couch, reading a piece of paper.
“Auntie Inko?” He asks, walking towards the living room. “Is Izuku ok?”
“Katsuki,” she says, looking over at him, “I-I don't know what to tell you, I…” she pauses, not able to continue. “This isn't like him, why would he do this?”
“What did he do?” Katsuki asks, sitting down beside her. Inko wasn't really able to say anything else so she just handed the paper over to the blond for him to read. As Katsuki reads the paper, his brows furrow, “he went on a secret training mission? He idolizes All Might, he wouldn't do that without asking All Might.” He continues re-reading the paper, “he loves me? I don't believe this…” Katsuki sat the paper down and looked at Inko, “I don't believe this paper for a second. He wouldn't just run off in the middle of the night like that.”
“I know, he's been acting differently since middle school but he went back to normal when he entered highschool, I thought everything would be ok. I'm worried about him.”
“Don't worry auntie, I'm going to find him.”
“We have absolutely no leads though, we should take this to his teachers, they might know something.”
He nods, “I’ll take the note and show them at school today.” He folds up the note and slips it into his back pocket, “Izuku…” he mutters, staring at the door, “I will find you.” Grabbing his bag off the floor, he turns to face the two adults, “I'm going to head in early today to talk to them before school starts, I'll text y'all what they say.”
Marsaru turns to Inko, “do you want to stay for breakfast?”
“No thanks, I have something already made at home and I think I need to be alone right now, thank you for the invitation though,” Inko says, standing up. “I'm glad Katsuki has only you now, he seems to be doing better.”
Marsaru nods, “I don't know why Mitsuki turned on him the way she did but she ended up turning on me as well so maybe that's how she always was.”
“It's not,” Inko shakes her head, “there was a misunderstanding years ago when the two were still toddlers and ever since then, she's been different.”
“What happened?” Marsaru asks. He had never seen Mitsuki with a child before so this was his only experience with her. Even if he had been dating her for a while before Katsuki came along, a lot of things can change when kids come along.
“My ex husband was talking to her one day while I was out shopping. He told her that I killed Katsuki and replaced him with an imposter. Obviously, I didn't do that but for some reason, she believed him. She didn't tell anyone about what he'd said, but she did turn against Izuku and I and you know the rest that involves Katsuki.”
Marsaru blinks, “that's what happened that day? She said you had done something unforgivable but she wouldn't say what. I wouldn't turn against you until I have knowledge on what was going on which made her hate me as much as she hates Katsuki. I'm glad she's out of the picture now and I hope she gets caught.”
Inko nods, “I still love her but I don't think she'll ever be able to redeem herself.” She makes her way to the door, “thank you for letting me talk to Katsuki.”
“Of course, anytime,” Marsaru nods, “go home and get some rest, Katsuki will text us as soon as he has answers.”
Inko nods and leaves his house, shutting the door behind her. She makes her way back to her house, looking around the neighborhood as she walks. Inko isn't really sure what she was looking for though as she scanned the neighborhood.
Once at her door, she unlocks the door and heads directly to her couch, plopping down on it. She keeps her phone beside her as she curls up on the couch, hoping to get a text soon.
Katsuki Bakugo entered the school and went directly to Aizawa's classroom, knocking on the door, hoping he was already here. “Mr. Aizawa?” He asks from outside of the classroom.
“Why are you here so early?” Aizawa asks, “come in.”
“I need to talk to you about something if that's ok.”
“Oh, Bakugo! This is perfect actually, Mic and I need to talk to you.”
“You needed to talk to me?” Bakugo asks, fear taking over as he starts to slightly shake.
Aizawa frowns, “Bakugo, are you ok?”
“Y-yeah, what is it that you needed to talk to me about?” He clenched his fists, biting his bottom lip to stop himself from crying.
“It's nothing bad,” Aizawa says, softly, “we're just worried about you sabotaging your friendship with Midoriya, from what Mic and I have seen, you two seem to be extremely close but lately it seems like you haven't wanted to speak to him, is everything ok? Your mother hasn't come back, has she?”
Bakugo shakes his head, “no she hasn't even contacted me since she left, I’m just not worthy of him, but now I have to find him, he's mine and he has to come back!”
“What do you mean find him?” Aizawa asks, “is he missing?”
Bakugo pulled the note out of his back pocket and read it once more before handing it over to Aizawa, “he left this note for his mother to find this morning.”
Aizawa read over the note, his brows furrowing, “Midoriya just up and left with only this note as an explanation. His mother showed this to you?”
“Yes, she came over early this morning and showed me.”
“Have you shown this to All Might yet? Midoriya idolizes him, I feel like All Might would know about it.”
“No sir, I came straight to you but I can go find him and take it to him if you think he'd know more.”
Aizawa nods and hands the note back to Bakugo, “Midoyia hasn't said anything to me so I’d try him next.”
“Thank you for your help,” Bakugo says, walking towards the door, “I might be late to class or I might not be here at all depending on what All Might says.”
“Promise me you won't go after Midoriya and you'll leave it for the pro’s.”
Bakugo hesitates for a moment, “I have to find him, I need to apologize, I need him to know that I love him,” Bakugo mutters the last part as he closes the door behind him.
Aizawa sighs, not sure if he should be happy or upset that there's a good chance Bakugo won't listen or happy that Bakugo might be turning his friendships around. He pulled out his phone and texted Mic about his conversation with Bakugo before going back into his sleeping bag.
As Bakugo made his way down to the teacher's lounge, his mind was spinning on what Aizawa said about him. Bakugo fully understood that he wasn't the nicest person to Midoriya but could it possibly be his fault that Midoriya left? He really hoped not, Midoriya means so much to him and if Midoriya left because of him…he wouldn't be able to handle it but does he deserve it after everything he's done to the boy?
Bakugo knocked on the door, note clutched in his hand as he waited. “Hello young Bakugo,” All Might says, opening the door, “how can I help you, young Bakugo?”
“I need to talk to you about Izuku.”
“Is everything ok with you g Midoryia?” All Might asks, shutting the door behind him as he exits the teacher's lounge.
Bakugo hands All Might the note, “he left this note for his mother to find this morning, do you know anything about it?”
All Might unfolded the note and read it before handing it back to Bakugo, his brows furrowed, “I don't know anything about a secret training mission, did something happen that might make him want to leave?”
“Well…” Bakugo trails off.
“What is it?” All Might pushes.
Bakugo took a deep breath, “lately I haven't talked to him much lately, it's all been a lot and I don't feel worthy to even be in his presence no matter how badly I want to be around him. Then yesterday, I was upset and he came and sat by me, trying to get me to talk to him about what was wrong but I wouldn't budge. I don't know how it happened but we ended up kissing, it was my first kiss and I was terrified so I pulled back and ran off, I haven't spoken to him since.”
“Do you think that would have caused him to leave?” All Might asks.
“I-I don't know…” Bakugo says, looking down at his feet, “I hope it wasn't because of me.”
“Don't worry young Bakugo, just go to class and I'll get a search party started.”
“No, I have to look for him myself! If he really did leave because of me then I have to bring him back.”
“Young Bakugo, it could be dangerous.”
“I don't care, I'm going after him,” he says, walking away from All Might wondering how the hell he's going to find Izuku.
“Bakugo,” Mic calls out from beside All Might who had caught him up on the situation, “at least wait till after school and we’ll go with you.”
Bakugo turns around, “what if he's hurt? We can't just wait!”
“If he wrote the note, he's probably not in danger,” All Might says.
“I really don't think he would disappear with a note,” Bakugo says, looking between the two teachers, “I'm not waiting for the end of the school day to find out we're wrong and he's hurt. What if the league took him again?”
Mic looks at All Might and sighs, “alright, I'll go with you, All Might can cover my class and he and Aizawa can join after school, how about that?”
“That's fine with me,” Bakugo nods, pulling out his phone and creating a group chat between Inko and his father.
Bakugo- ‘All Might didn't know anything about Izuku’s “secret mission” so Present Mic and I are going to look for jim, All Might and Eraser Head will join after school.’
Marsaru- ‘why are they taking you with them? You're still learning how to use your quirk, I don't want you getting hurt.’
Bakugo- ‘I told them I was going with or without them, I'm not staying put while he's in danger.’
Inko- ‘Please be careful, I don't want you getting hurt.’
Marsaru- ‘I can't talk you out of this, can I?’
Bakugo- ‘nope, I'll make sure to keep the both of you updated.’
Putting his phone back up, he turns to face the pro’s, “I don't know where to start.”
“I'm sure we'll find something close to his house,” Mic says, “let's go.”
Izuku was in the main room of the league's hideout, staring at the wall. All For One said he had a job for him at some point today and he wasn't looking forward to it, if All For One hadn't threatened Katsuki, he wouldn't be doing the damn jobs.
“You look like someone killed your cat,” Dabi says from across the room.
“Shut up,” Midoriya says, rolling his eyes.
“Damn, you don't have to be so rude.”
“Why shouldn't I be rude, huh? I'm here against my will. All of y'all are awful villains who need help.”
“Don't listen to him, he just misses his boyfriend. I saw him kiss the blond I almost killed the other day,” Toga says, bounding into the room.
Midoriya shot a murderous glare, “shut your mouth, you don't have the right to even speak about him. He almost died because of you!” Midoriya exclaims, a dark aura surrounding him.
“You made him testy,” Shigarki chuckles, “at least we know for a fact that the blond is his weakness.”
“If any of you touch him, you will die, no mercy will be given, don't test me,” he says, standing up.
“I thought you were trying to be a hero,” Dabi says, raising a brow.
“I am going to be a hero!”
“What's this about hero talk?” All For One asks, walking into the room.
“Oh great, what do you want?” Midoriya asks, not bothering to glance at his so-called father.
“I have your first job,” All For One says. “You're going to rob the bank, we're running low on funds. I'm sending Dabi and Toga with you to make sure you actually complete it.”
“I can't rob a bank!” Midoriya exclaims.
“You can and you will or if you'd rather, I can send Dabi after Bakugo this time, give him some burns before killing him.”
Midoriya clenched his fists, “fuck you.”
All For One chuckles, “are you refusing?”
“No,” Midoriya sighs, “I'll do it, just leave Kacchan alone.”
“Good, the three of you need to leave in the next thirty minutes,” he says, walking away, not really caring to continue the conversation.
“Great, we gotta deal with goody two shoes,” Dabi says, rolling his eyes.
“It's not like I want to do this!” Midoriya shoots back.
“This is going to be so much fun!” Toga exclaims, clapping her hands together. Midoriya doesn't say anything else as he walks to his room.
Mic, All Might, and Bakugo were outside of Midoriya's room, looking for any clues of where he might have gone. “This is fucking pointless!” Bakugo grumbles, groaning in frustration.
“Language, young Bakugo,” All Might reminds him.
“There's nothing here!” He says, turning to face his teachers. Tears filled his eyes, “what are we going to do if we can't find any clues? How will we find him?”
“It'll be ok, we’ll find him, don't worry. We’ll keep looking.” Mic says, softly.
Looking off into the distance, Bakugo sighs, “wherever you are Izuku, please hold on, I'll find you no matter what.”
“I just got a notification that a bank is being robbed just down the street. They have three suspects and we're the closest to the bank, we should probably get going.” All Might says.
“We have Bakugo with us, we can't just go fight villains," Mic points out.
“We can if he stays away from it all,” All Might counters.
Mic sighs and looks at Bakugo, “I have a better idea.” Walking over to Bakugo, he puts a hand on his shoulder, “hey kid, so All Might and I need to go stop a bank robbery. Since we're basically at your house, why don't you go home for the day and we'll continue searching tomorrow. You'll need rest.”
Bakugo looks up at Present Mic with more tears in his eyes, “I'm not resting until we find him.”
“Bakugo,” Mic says, sternly but softly. “If you don't let your body rest then you won't be any help to him.”
“Fine,” he mutters, shrugging off Mic’s hand as he walks towards his house.
Mic sighs and turns back to All Might, “let's go.”
“I hope young Midoriya did indeed go off on his own and he comes back home.”
“Me too, I don't think Bakugo will make it if we can't find him, he seems extremely attached to him in a weird way.”
All Might nods, “they definitely depend on each other.”
Bakugo went into his house, going directly to his room. His dad was at work which was fine by him because he really didn't feel like talking to anyone right now. He pulled up Midoriya's contact and sent him a message before putting his phone down and laying down on his bed.
All Might and Present Mic arrive at the bank robbery just as the three suspects are leaving. A glimpse of green hair hit the corner of All Might’s eye. He frowned as he attempted to get a better look at the kid but he was gone too fast. He must be seeing things, right? Midoriya wouldn't rob a bank!
“Damnit,” Mic mutters, “we should probably go after them.”
“I think we should send the authorities at this point, especially since we don't have a car with us.” All Might points out. Mic nods and phones the authorities as he and All Might head back to the school since it was almost time for the house visits.
The school day got cut short early today so they could get the home visits done faster. Mic, All Might, and Aizawa got into Mic’s car, driving to their first house.
Midoriya, Dabi, and Toga got back to the League of Villains hideout with Dabi carrying the money they had grabbed.
Midoriya instantly went up to his room, not ok with any of this. He laid down on the bed and pulled his knees to his chest. He felt like he desperately needed some relief but didn't have anything to do it with. He groaned as he laid there, wondering how he’d messed up this badly! He's never going to be a hero now…it's over, his life is over!
“How did it go?” All For One asks, looking at Dabi and Toga.
“Midoriya didn't do much, he insisted on being the lookout but didn't stop us from robbing the bank.”
All For One chuckles, “he'll get used to it soon, I'll make sure to give him multiple jobs until he finally embraces his villain side. Take the money to the vault for now.” He says, making his way to Midoriya's room.
“Izuku, open up,” he says, standing in front of his door.
“No,” he replies, “I would like to be alone.”
“I don't care, we need to talk.”
“Good for you.”
All For One growls and attempts to open the door but finds that it's locked, “son, open up this door right now.”
Mentions of slight self harm here but it's lighter then normal.
Midoriya decided to stop answering while he pinched himself over and over, letting tears fall down his face as he went harder and harder.
“Fine, don't answer me,” All For One says, “but you will talk to me before the day is over.” Walking away from Midoriya's room, he went to his underground lair to plan more.
“Damnit,” Midoriya mutters, looking down at his arm. There was in fact blood due to how hard he pinched but it wasn't enough. He pulled out his phone to see a missed text from Kacchan.
Mentions stop here
“Kacchan- ‘Izuku, please come home, I can't do this without you and auntie Inko is worried.’
Izuku started typing and deleted a message over and over, unable to decide what to say and instead deciding to turn his phone off, and pulling the covers up over him, attempting to fall asleep.
