richie was sitting in the cafeteria of his school, this was the place they sat, waiting for everyone to come piling in before it was time to go to homeroom. he bit his nails anxiously, it was 10 minutes before it was time to go to their homerooms, and eddie still wasn't here. he was never late, in fact, he was always early. his mom had to go to work at 7 am and always dropped eddie off before going to work. he was always one of the first ones here.

but he wasn't here today. and richie was extremely worried for some reason. it was february and he hasn't been absent all year.
richie quickly snuck out of the doors of the school. technically, the school day hasn't even started yet, so hopefully he doesn't get in too much trouble.

he grabbed his bike and made his way to eddie's house, semi relieved to not see a car in the driveway. this meant eddie's mom wasn't home.

he knocked on the door a few times and rang the doorbell, waiting impatiently for someone to answer.

a tired eddie opened the door, eyes quickly widening and looking around outside before frantically pulling richie inside.

"what are you doing here?" eddie asked, shakily. his mom still didn't know about richie and eddie's relationship, and he had no plans of ever telling her. the thought alone gave him severe anxiety.

"i was worried about you, you're never late or absent to school. are you oka-" richie was interrupted by eddie sneezing. "oh."

"yeah, i'm fine, just sick." eddie replied, walking away to grab a tissue. "my mom almost took me to the hospital, thank god she didn't, it's just a cold. but i didn't get any sleep last night."

"is she at work?"

"nope, i told her that she should go to work but she wouldn't listen to me and insisted on staying with me all day incase i need anything. she went to run errands though, we have a little bit of time before she comes back." eddie replied, sitting on the couch and patting the seat next to him for richie to sit.

he did, he laid on the other end of the couch, holding his arms out for eddie to come lay next to him. he gently laid between his legs and put his head on richie's chest. the couch was quite small so it was really uncomfortable, but they had each other's company which was all that mattered.

richie wrapped his arms around eddie's waist, hugging him tightly against him. he ran his fingers through eddie's hair, trying to somewhat brush it with his hands. eddie's eyes were puffy and tired looking and his nose was red, yet somehow he still looked adorable.

eddie inched up closer to rest his head on richie's shoulder and he slowly fell back asleep, with just the sound of their breathing and soft sniffles.

sorry that this is so bad and short i haven't written since like december or january and it is now halfway through june

i've been really wanting to write fanfic again lately but i can't guarantee i'm actually going to because i have had no ideas and i still feel like all my oneshots look the same, basically richie & eddie dating behind sonia's back & then they go on a cute little date and cuddle and fall asleep together. they're all the same lol so i need to think of something new for once IF i do decide to keep writing
