hii last part :) a few people were really excited for this so i hope i dont disappoint hhh

i had so much trouble figuring out how to start this ngl so i hope it's okay. i literally typed shit just to delete it so many times lmfao

A few years had passed since Richie and Eddie first became friends and now they were both twenty years old. Richie still lived in California and Eddie still lived in Maine. They still talked every day - they didn't facetime as much because they'd always end up talking for hours which was hard when they both lived busy lives now. Although they both lived in their hometown still, they now had their own apartments.

Now, Richie stood in the parking lot of Eddie's apartment complex at 8 PM.

They had given each other their addresses multiple times to send each other gifts throughout the years of their friendship.

Richie and Eddie had always talked about meeting up but it was kind of a joke that was pushed away every time it was brought up, simply because they were both scared, but Richie had enough and desperately needed to see Eddie in person, so he booked a flight, packed his bags, and got on his flight.

They weren't dating, they didn't really know what they were. They were both best friends who clearly had feelings for each other, and they kinda acted like they were dating, but it was hard in a long distance relationship. They definitely flirted a lot, but nothing was ever made official between them. Richie was kinda scared. He didn't know how Eddie would react to seeing Richie, would he be upset that Richie didn't tell him first? Well there was really only one way to find out. Richie headed up the stairs of the building, leaving his suitcase in his car. He didn't even know where he would stay for the week that he'd be here. Would he stay with Eddie? Or find a hotel? Richie had trouble figuring out these kinds of things.

He finally found Eddie's apartment number after walking around aimlessly for about ten minutes, and then stood in front of the door, his heart beating a mile a minute. His stomach dropped and he gulped, trying to find the courage to knock. Once he finally lifted his hand, he knocked on the door, but it sounded really light, so he knocked again.

Shit, what if he wasn't even home? Richie thought to himself as he waited for a few seconds to try to hear if anyone was coming to the door.

Within thirty seconds, Eddie opened the door quickly, eyes wide.

"Richie? What the fuck?" He said breathlessly, not knowing how to react.

"It's me Eds!" Richie said, smiling wide and putting a thumbs up, not knowing what else to do with himself.

"What the fuck! What are you doing here?" Eddie smiled wide, pulling him in for a hug. "I wasn't expecting anyone so I looked through the little peep hole thingy and saw you! What the hell! How, how are you even here?" Eddie asked excitedly, pulling away from the hug and pulling him inside the apartment, closing the door behind him.

"Well.. I booked a flight-"

"No shit sherlock! This is crazy, wow. I wasn't expecting this at all. I literally - what the hell. I never would've seen this coming in a million years. What the fuck!" Eddie exclaimed, his wide smile still remaining on his face.

"I guess I just really wanted to meet you in person!" Richie shrugged, laughing.  Eddie didn't say anything, he just pulled Richie in for another hug, squeezing the shit out of him.

"Damn Eds, your heart is beating so fast!" Richie laughed, resting his chin on Eddie's head. "Oh my god, you're shorter than I expected!"

"Oh shut up," Eddie said, pulling away again. "Kinda weird that we never mentioned our heights to eachother!" Eddie smiled.

"Seriously!" Richie agreed, smiling at Eddie and taking in his features. He honestly still looked young. Even when he was seventeen, he looked fifteen. Now that he's twenty, he looks seventeen or eighteen still, he hasn't changed much. His features matured and he grew into them, and he still had the same red lips, dark freckles, brown eyes, and hair - the same hairstyle that he had when he met him. "By the way, you're even cuter in person." Richie said, making Eddie blush.

"I actually can't believe you're here." Eddie said again, taking a deep breath and looking at Richie as he leaned against his kitchen table. "Oh, I guess I should give you an apartment tour. It's really nothing special, but whatever." Eddie giggled.

"You can put your stuff down if you want," Eddie said, referring to the only bag Richie brought in which just had his phone, charger, and some other basic items. Richie set it down on the floor next to the door.

"So this is the dining room and kitchen," Eddie said, showing the small circular table near the front door that was next to the small kitchen that was closed off and tiny. Richie didn't really know how else to explain it. Next to the door was a closet, Richie assumed had coats or cleaning shit in it.

"Here's the living room," Eddie said, pointing to the small rectangular area next to the dining room, where he had a couch, table, and a tv on a shelf. Eddie didn't really have much, but Richie understood - he didn't have much either.

"And then here's a closet my bedroom, and the bathroom." Eddie showed, taking him into each room and letting him look around.

"Very nice Eds! You sure know how to decorate." Richie nodded and joked, since Eddie didn't really have anything on his walls or anything extra laying around.

"Oh shut up," Eddie laughed. They stood in an awkward silence for a minute, just looking around and at each other. Richie didn't really know what to do now.

"I still can't believe you're actually here." Eddie said, he had calmed down a little at this point but was still really happy. He leaned towards Richie to give him another hug, wrapping his arms around his waist and putting his head on his chest. He hoped Richie didn't mind, Eddie just really wanted to cherish this moment while he had it.

Richie got the message that Eddie wanted him to hold him there for a minute, so he squeezed Eddie against him and rested his cheek against the top of his head, rubbing his back for a minute.

Richie glanced at the time on the clock, it was only 9:30 PM. It felt like 6:30 for him since he wasn't used to the time difference yet, but he was really tired because he didn't sleep well the night before.

"Well I'm not gonna lie, I'm really tired." Richie said, rubbing Eddie's back until he pulled away and looked at him. "Do you mind if I crash here for the night? I can sleep on the couch, and I can stay in a hotel while I'm here-" Richie said.

"Are you kidding? You can sleep here of course. You don't have to find a hotel. I'm not some stranger, we've been best friends for like four years." Eddie laughed.

"Edssss, don't make fun of me. I'm new to this, I don't know what's normal or okay and what's not. Just give me a little to warm up to being here and I'll be fine." Richie smiled, ruffling Eddie's hair.

"Oh shit- how long are you staying?" Eddie asked, a hint of disappointment in his voice.

"A week." Richie said, shrugging.

"Damn." Eddie said sadly, looking down at the floor.

"Let's not focus on when I'm leaving, let's just focus on the fact that I'm here now." Richie smiled, taking a risk and fighting his nerves to kiss the top of Eddie's head.

"Um- here, l-let me get you a spare blanket and pillow." Eddie said, his words getting caught in his mouth.

"Thanks Eds. I'm gonna get get my suitcase and change, I'll be right back." Richie said, running down to his car to get his things. When he made it back, he got in the bathroom to change into sweatpants and a hoodie, which is basically what he wore as pajamas.

Eddie handed him the blanket and pillow and awkwardly smiled at him.

"Well, goodnight Richie." Eddie said, waving awkwardly and walking to his room, physically cringing at himself. Richie threw the pillow on the couch, laying down and covering himself with the blanket, trying to get comfortable.

As Richie struggled to get comfortable on the couch, Eddie laid awake in his bed, cringing at how awkward they were both being. After about a half hour, Eddie gained some confidence and decided to try to end the awkwardness.

"Richie? You awake?"

"Yep," Richie mumbled.

"Do you wanna just come lay in my bed?" Eddie asked, immediately regretting it after, even though he was thinking about it for like ten minutes beforehand.

"Ugh, please. This couch is so uncomfortable - no offense." Richie laughed, getting up.

"Oh, I know." Eddie said. "I don't know why we're both being so awkward. We've literally fallen asleep on call more times than I can count. You can fuckin' sleep in my bed." Eddie laughed and Richie blushed, luckily Eddie didn't notice because they were in the dark.

They both laid down on the king sized bed, and apparently they both seemed to gain some confidence at night, because Richie put his arm around Eddie, who's back was against him so they were spooning.

"Wow, who would've thought that one day we wouldn't have to sleep call, we'd actually be sleeping next to each other." Richie giggled.

"Definitely not me." Eddie replied, turning to look at Richie.

"What's that supposed to mean?" Richie giggled, moving his hand to run it through Eddie's hair, twirling the different strands between his fingers.

"Nothing bad, but the idea of you surprising me and showing up on my doorstep never really crossed my mind." Eddie said, staying silent for a minute. "I definitely don't mind though." Eddie concluded, looking at Richie, who was staring back at him.

"You're doing that shit again." Eddie blushed, turning to lay on his back and covering his face with his hands.

"Four years later and you still get uncomfortable when I look at you." Richie said.

"I feel like you're staring into my soul and studying all my flaws." Eddie said, turning to face him again.

"Pfft, what flaws?" Richie laughed, leaning forward to kiss his nose. The awkwardness was definitely gone now. Now you can tell that they've been friends for years. Richie hoped that they'd turn into more.

Eddie didn't respond, just looked at him and zoned out, his eyes shutting slowly.

"Eddie?" Richie questioned.

"Hmm?" Eddie responded.

Richie wanted to kiss him, and he was about to but something made him back out last second. Maybe they were moving too fast. They have been friends for a while but they only just met up officially a few hours ago.

"I dunno." Richie giggled, making Eddie smile and shake his head. Eddie had an idea of what Richie was going to say, but like Richie, he didn't want to make any risks yet.

"Wanna cuddle?" Eddie laughed and Richie nodded eagerly, smiling.

Eddie moved closer to him, as if they already weren't close enough, and draped his arm across Richie's chest and his leg in between Richie's. He rested his head above Richie's shoulder and closed his eyes to finally go to sleep.

"Goodnight Rich." Eddie whispered, falling asleep instantly to the feeling of Richie playing with his hair.

-

The next morning, Eddie woke up first. Of course, as someone who moves a lot in his sleep, he ended up at the opposite end of the bed from Richie, but he quietly moved himself back in place and waited for Richie to wake up again. Of course, with Eddie's luck, the movement made Richie wake up anyway.

"You ain't slick Eds." Richie mumbled, his voice cracking. He opened his eyes slightly before wrapping his arms around Eddie to pull him against him and closing them again.

"I didn't mean to wake you up." Eddie said softly, smiling.

"Mm, it's okay Eds." Richie mumbled, burying his face in Eddie's hair and kissing his head. Eddie thought about how tangled up they were. Richie's stomach was pressed against Eddie's back, his arms tightly wrapped around Eddie's and his head buried in his neck.

"Friends don't cuddle like this." Eddie mumbled, accidentally saying his thoughts out loud. He widened his eyes, happy that Richie couldn't see him, but unfortunately for Eddie, Richie still heard him. Eddie squeezed his eyes shut, wondering how the fuck he let that slip out of his mouth.

"Huh?" Richie asked, opening his eyes and propping himself up on his side using his elbow, looking down at Eddie. Eddie turned onto his back and looked up at Richie.

"I'm sorry, I really didn't mean to say that out loud." Eddie mumbled, avoiding eye contact.

"It's alright Eds. You're right, they don't." Richie said, not knowing what to say next, his eyes remained on Eddie's though.

"Well what are we then?" Eddie asked, looking down at Richie's lips. Richie noticed, and took that as a sign to shoot his shot. He nervously leaned down and softly kissed him, readjusting himself more comfortably and pulling away a few seconds later.

"Well definitely not friends." Richie laughed, leaning down to kiss him again. Eddie ran his fingers through Richie's curls and pulled away again.

"Our first kiss just had to be with morning breath, huh?" Eddie blushed, looking away.

"I don't really care." Richie said, kissing his cheek and then his forehead lightly before sitting up in the bed.

"Can you believe a stupid highschool English assignment is what brought us together?" Eddie giggled, sitting up against his headboard.

"I'll never complain about school again!" Richie laughed, moving closer to Eddie as he was facing him.

"That's a whole ass lie, sweetie." Eddie giggled, reaching his hand out to caress Richie's cheek.

"Dude, I've literally been crushing on you since like, the third letter we sent each other." Richie said.

"Oh I've got you beat, I've been crushing on you since the second letter you sent me." Eddie smirked.

Richie smiled and leaned forward, kissing his lips again and pulling away.

"I love you." Richie said, grabbing Eddie's hands and playing with his fingers.

"I love you too." Eddie said.

"Remember when you wouldn't say you loved me? That was funny." Richie teased.

"That's because I actually did love you, as more than a friend, and it felt like I was admitting something that I didn't wanna admit yet." Eddie explained.

"It's okay Eds, I'd never force you or pressure you into anything like that, okay?" Richie said, kissing his forehead again. Eddie nodded.

"Want breakfast?" Richie asked after kissing his nose. Eddie nodded again.
