it was a late october night on a wednesday, and eddie was trying to think of what to pack for the camping trip that he and the losers were going on. it was a long weekend so the school had off from friday to monday. the losers were camping from thursday evening till monday morning at some campground that richie found.

they had saved up enough money altogether to go, it was a public campground with a store nearby, a diner, and showers/bathrooms. some of them, like eddie, had to lie to their parents and say they were sleeping over at someone's house. luckily, most of their parents had loosened up a little since they were all mostly 17 years old now.

they were all going in richies truck, richie and eddie would sit in the front, stan and bill would sit in the back, and mike, ben, and beverly would sit in the bed of the truck, since beverly practically begged to lay down in the back and watch the stars. bill offered to buy the tents for everyone.

eddie sat there on his bed, trying to think the weekend over in his head. four days, four nights. what were they even going to do? what do people even do when they go camping? would he really be sleeping in the middle of woods inside a tent where anyone could come kill him? he started overthinking things, slightly wanting to cancel and come up with some excuse to why he couldn't go. he didn't want to sleep in a tent by himself.

he tried his hardest to shove the thoughts to the back of his head, telling himself that he'll be fine and everything will go perfectly fine.

he only had a suitcase to pack things in, so he had to fit everything. he got a plastic bag and put his toothbrush, toothpaste, and shower supplies in it. he stuck the bag inside the suitcase, and packed his clothes next. it was october, so itd be freezing outside. why were they going camping in october?

he picked out a hoodie, a few pairs of sweatpants and jeans. He also packed a pair of overalls, some sweaters, and two t-shirts. he looked for a pair of gloves, a scarf and a beanie to wear aswell, which he packed next. he put aside a pair of gray sweatpants and an oversized dark blue sweater, which would be what he wore on the way there and to bed. the drive was about an hour and a half, so he wanted to be comfy.

he kept his sleeping bag separate since he didn't have room for it.

he got up, stretching and wobbling over to his bed since his leg fell asleep while he was folding his clothes and organizing his suitcase. he sat on his bed, looking satisfied with his things, glad he didn't pack as much as he was expecting. he hoped he wasn't forgetting anything.

he checked the time, seeing it was 11 pm and his mom would kill him if she found him up this late, so he went to bed, smiling because he was slightly excited for the trip again.

the next day, eddie went to school of course, the day dragged on like always and he was ready to just go home. he got homework, of course, because weekends are supposed to be little breaks throughout the year for students to relax and gain their sanity back, yet teachers don't realize that.

when eddie got home, he quickly did his homework, which luckily wasn't much, but it still took him a while. he checked the time, seeing it was 5:30. richie would be coming to pick him up in an hour. he took a shower, changing into his comfy clothes and putting on shoes, going downstairs to eat dinner. once he was done, it was almost 6:20, so he ran upstairs and grabbed his things, looking around his room once more to make sure he didn't forget anything. he dragged it all down the stairs, saying goodbye to his mom.

"why do you have a sleeping bag?" she asked from her spot on the recliner.

"just incase they don't have one there and there's nowhere to sleep." eddie said, feeling sick to his stomach and as if all the weight in his body disappeared, he felt like he could easily pass out. he was genuinely scared of her. he hoped she wouldn't ask who's house he was going to, because all he's said to her was that it was someone's house. if he mentioned a name, she'd have her ways of finding out their number and contacting them, eventually finding out it was a lie.

"okay eddie bear. have fun and be safe. don't forget your inhaler or your medicine. if you need me to come pick you up early, you call me, okay dear? ill see you on monday." she said.

"alright mommy, i gotta go now. love you." eddie said as he kissed her cheek and walked out the door, finding richies truck which was down the street so he didn't risk eddies mom seeing him. richie saw him come out of his house and got out, jogging up to him.

"here, I'll help ya." richie said, wrapping an arm around eddie and taking his sleeping bag for him.

eddie thanked him and smiled. once they got to richies truck, they put his things in the back, and eddie began jumping up and down and clapping, a genuine smile on his face that he couldn't remove.

"i can't believe she's actually letting me go. this is going to be so much fun richie! i was actually worried earlier but i think it'll be fine, i just overthink too much." eddie said, lightly punching richies shoulder and smiling widely.

"eds, you're adorable." richie sat back, watching eddie in admiration.

eddie and richie have liked eachother for years; they're practically dating, just not officially. they sure act like a couple, they've definitely kissed eachother once or twice, but they never talked about it. they just know that if they were to become official, or public outside of the losers club, it could only bring bad things in a town like derry.

"don't call me either of those things, c'mon! let's go pick up the other losers." eddie exclaimed, opening up the door on the passenger side and jumping in. eddie watched richie as he climbed in his truck. he was wearing black jeans, a yellow shirt tucked into his jeans with a jean jacket over it. his pretty curls nearly reached his eyes and his freckles were more visible with the moonlight shining on them.

"you look cute and comfy." richie said, looking him up and down and smiling.

"thanks, i am," eddie giggled. "i like your outfit, it looks good on you." eddie said, blushing. he always felt awkward after complimenting richie, because richie jokes around a lot and doesn't take anything seriously, so he always worried he was gonna come back with some smartass comment that would just embarrass eddie.

"why thank you eds, i had you in mind while picking it out!" richie said in a high pitched voice with some type of accent, blushing. this was usually richies response to compliments, it depended on his mood. he didn't know how to react to compliments, he usually smiled like an idiot and then would think about it nonstop. eddie liked seeing him like that though.

the rest of the drive was spent picking up the rest of the losers and just talking. once everyone was squished in the truck and all settled down, eddie ended up falling asleep. it was only about 7:15 pm, but they knew they'd all probably be up late, so they figured they'd sleep now while they have a chance. bill and stan were in the back seat, sharing headphones and listening to music. bill had his head rested on stans shoulder with his eyes closed while stan just looked out the window. in the bed of the truck, beverly laid on a blanket, wearing a beanie, some of her red curls sticking out onto her forehead. she was also wearing sweatpants and a hoodie. she watched the sky and all the road lights as they drove past while mike and ben admired her and talked about their interests.

once they arrived at the campsite, eddie was still asleep. he was a heavy sleeper, so he'd probably be difficult to wake up. richie told everyone else they could take their stuff and start walking towards the campsite and he'd meet up with them.

richie sighed, looking over at eddie and admiring how peaceful he looked when he slept. he had his legs crossed and he was facing the door, pretty much curled up next to it but not touching it, luckily. his mouth was opened slightly and he was snoring quietly. richie unbuckled his seatbelt, taking his keys out and sighing.

he got out of his truck, checking to see if there were any more bags in the back that needed to be taken, but luckily someone grabbed his and eddies things for them.

richie walked to eddies side, opening his door and trying to figure out what to do. he lightly shook eddies shoulders, whispering to him to wake up because they were there. eddie finally woke up, still half asleep, and he unbuckled his seatbelt and crawled out of the truck.

"i'll give you a piggy back ride if ya want." richie said, leaning down.

eddie nodded, eyes half closed. he got on richies back, wrapping his arms around richies shoulders and resting his head on the top of richies. he turned his head to the side so his cheek was against the top of richies head and closed his eyes, smelling Richie's curly hair.

once they got to the campsite, richie set eddie down and wrapped an arm around his shoulder, but by this time eddie was almost fully awake.

"s-so i f-forgot to tuh-tell you, but they only had 3 tents. so wu-we'll have to sh-shuh-share." bill stuttered, talking quietly and trying not to become too frustrated with his mouth.

thank god eddie thought. he looked around the area, seeing they were surrounded by trees that seemed to lead into a deep forest. well, they were camping so what else did he expect? eddie walked up to richie and held onto his arm.

"can we share a tent?" eddie asked, looking up at him with slight worry in his eyes. there were 3 tents and 7 of them, so eddie wouldn't end up alone, but he's known richie the longest and is the most comfortable with him. richie lightly pulled his arm out of eddies grip and used it to wrap it around eddies shoulders again.

"yeah definitely!" richie said, smiling at the short boy and leaning down to kiss his head.
they all decided to stick with how it was in the truck. richie and eddie together, stan and bill together, and mike, ben, and beverly together.

"mike, you're the strongest out of all of us, do you feel like coming with me and grabbing wood?" beverly asked him and mike shrugged and nodded.

after a while, the tents were finally set up and the fire was finally going. they all got their tents set up, blankets and pillows everywhere with their bags off to the side. it was comfy and cozy and eddie was actually kind of excited now.

they all sat on the logs around the campfire, reaching their hands over to warm them up. eddie shivered, feeling like he was the farthest away from the fire simply because he was still freezing.

"im so cold." eddie laughed as he shivered and moved closer, feeling a chill rush through his body. richie moved from beside eddie and went to the tent, coming back with a blanket and draping it over eddies shoulders.

"thanks rich." eddie said, smiling.

"hey richie, im cold too." stan said, smirking at him.

"well too fuckin' bad. maybe you should've brought your own blanket." richie laughed.

"damn dude, you sure do have a soft spot for 1/7 of us." mike said, winking and nodding in eddies direction while smirking.

"you all need to shut up. let's play a game.. or tell scary stories, or something." richie said, changing the topic because he didnt really talk about his love interests with the group.

"you should let me braid your hair, rich." beverly said. "it's getting long."

"not longer than my wang, that's for sure. do you have hair ties or whatever?" richie asked, eddie being the only one who slightly smiled at richies joke. beverly rolled her eyes and nodded, pulling out small hair ties from her pocket that she always had there just in case. she didn't really know what she'd need them for, since she herself had short hair, but- just in case.

she stood up from between mike and stan and took richies spot next to eddie, having him sit down in front of her.

the losers all started talking about what they should do tomorrow, thinking about going hiking. richie closed his eyes at the relaxing feeling of someone playing with his hair. beverly was gentle with him, running her fingers through it lightly and finding longer chunks to braid.

eddie watched beverly play with richies hair and giggled at how cute richie looked with his hair in a bunch of little braids. he felt his stomach bubble with happiness, suddenly feeling an overwhelming feeling of love and happiness towards his friends.

"i love you guys." eddie said, looking up from richies hair and at the rest of group. everyone replied with "we love you too's" and smiled, feeling the same thing that eddie felt.

once beverly was done and had most of his hair bunched in braids, beverly put her hands on his shoulders and gently turned him around, giggling at his hair poking out in different directions. "alright, all done. let me take a picture," she said while laughing. she grabbed her polaroid camera and right as she took the picture, richie looked up, smiled, and put his flattened hands underneath his chin, as to say "look how pretty i am!!"

she took one more, this time, richie was mid-laughing at the previous picture, so he was genuinely smiling and his eyes were slightly squinted. he looked cute.

"you look so cute in these!" beverly laughed, looking down and smiling at the pictures of her best friend. she showed the pictures to eddie, knowing he'd want to see.

"why thank you, your majesty." richie said in a british accent, picking up her hand and kissing it before sitting back down in between eddie and beverly.

"man, i want to keep these so bad. i wish i didn't have to worry about my dad finding them, he'd lose his shit, i have no idea what he'd do." beverly muttered, frowning.

"youve always given me all your polaroid pictures so he doesn't find them, and they're all safe and sound with me. once you move out of your house, you know i'll give them all back." richie said, smiling at her and reaching his hand out for the pictures. richie has kept all of beverlys polaroid pictures since they first became friends and joined together to make the losers club, and richie has secretly been making her a scrapbook of them. he'd put the pictures that were taken the same day on the same page, writing the date and little captions. he'd give it to her the day she'd move out.

"yeah, i know, it just sucks that i can't have them with me all the time to look at them whenever i want. i have pictures of all you guys that i wish i could hang on my walls like most teenagers." beverly said, looking up at the the other four boys who were engaged in their own conversations.

"i know bev, but it's alright. cmon! we're 17. we have one more year of highschool and then we can all move out and away from our shitty lives." richie said, trying to make her happy.

beverly looked up from the pictures and looked over at richie, leaning over and kissing him by his ear quickly. she wrapped her arms around his shoulders from the side and hugged him, her head on his shoulder. he hugged her back, leaning his head against hers and pulling her closer to him.

(a/n PUT YOUR HEAD ON MY SHOULDERRRR hoLD ME IN YOUR ARMS)

"thanks rich, you always know how to cheer everyone up." she smiled at him, pulling away but keeping her head on his shoulder. richie smiled, wrapping his arm around her waist and wrapping his other arm around eddie's waist, who was enjoying the fire and letting the two talk with privacy.

eddie leaned his head against richies other shoulder, and richie rested his head to the left- on top of eddies head, and smiled contently, pulling his two closest friends closer to him and sighing, not wanting to be anywhere else in the world at this moment.
