Jimmy, 3:: the cafe with a bunch of clocks
BDubs slept for another four hours (Jimmy understood needing sleep but jeez) before finally getting ready and dragging Jimmy out of the apartment.
——
BDubs glanced around uncertainly as they entered the shop and a bell rang. Cleo glanced up and shot a small smile at the pair, muttering something to Lizzie, her girlfriend, who was in the process of making a drink.
Jimmy hadn't realised until now that Cleo one, worked at the same place as BDubs, and two, owned a cafe.
The Clockers Cafe was a very nice place. The chequerboard floor was dotted with small, circular oak tables with red tablecloths carefully placed over them, and the gray walls were adorned with clocks of different shapes and sizes in interlocking patterns at random points on the wall.
Jimmy mouthed a greeting in Cleo's direction, glancing sideways as his roommate nudged him with his elbow. "Yup, that's Etho." BDubs nodded in the direction of a man sat in the corner of the shop, occasionally sipping from a mug of what appeared to be black coffee (Jimmy didn't understand why anyone drank that, honestly).
He had long, silvery white hair that could barely be tied back in a plait, and a thin scar ran across the coral pink eye currently turned towards the rest of the shop (Jimmy was pretty sure his other eye was gray).
They had multiple rings on each finger which kept clanking against the mug as they tapped it impatiently, and a feather earring hung from one ear. They were wearing a baggy gray hoodie and ripped jeans, and they had a white badge pinned to their chest that had 'TEAM CANADA' scrawled on it in messy black Sharpie.
Etho glanced sideways as he presumably heard the door close, and he grinned at BDubs, revealing a missing tooth. "BDubs!" He cheered as the pair walked closer. "Sit, sit."
The man with silvery hair shot Jimmy a curious glance as he and his roommate sat down. "You're Jimmy, right?" The dark blonde nodded. "Nice to meet you. BDubs talks about you a lot. All good things, all good things, don't worry!" Etho added hastily as Jimmy shot him an intrigued look.
"I'm sure it's all good things." The winged man joked, grinning at BDubs who huffed out a laugh before glancing at Etho's drink.
"Black coffee? Really? You couldn't be more emo if you tried." The brunette commented.
"Oh, shush, you. At least I can type sleep correctly. Slep." BDubs glared fiercely at Etho as Jimmy let out a small giggle.
"Okay, Frosty." Jimmy's roommate grumbled. It took Etho letting out a mock offended gasp to realise that the nickname was in reference to their hair.
"Hey, my hair looks awesome! And your hair is literally white whenever you switch to your stupid vigilante form." They huffed.
"At least my hair isn't white all the time. You look old." BDubs said pointedly, both eyebrows raised.
Etho muttered something along the lines of 'your mom looks old,' before raising his voice. "Yeah, yeah, but aren't you here to give me your oh-so-great advice about hiding my face?"
Jimmy blinked. "Shouldn't we be like- a lot more quiet about that?" BDubs' friend shrugged.
"BDubs said Lizzie and Cleo won't tell anyone, so..." Oh, so he doesn't know they're vigilantes. Presumably? Maybe? "So please, great BDubs, share your wisdom with me." Etho added wryly. Is all they do jokingly insult each other-?
"Well, for starters, maybe cover up your whole face- you have a very noticeable scar, your eye colours are noticeable, your hair is bright white, et cetera... Like, we don't need to cover our faces as much because we have different hair and eye colours in our vigilante forms, so..." Etho nodded thoughtfully at BDubs' words.
"Also, maybe try a different tone of voice when speaking. Get a voice changer or something." Cleo commented as she made her way over to the table. "I try to make my voice slightly lower whenever talking around heroes or villains because it could give away my identity."
Etho stared at them. "You're a vigilante?"
They rolled their eyes. "Who do you think Thanatos is, genius?" Cleo snapped, lowering her voice slightly.
"Ohhh." Etho nodded sagely. "Got it. So what, I- get a voice changer? And a bigger mask?" They said slowly.
"Pretty much." BDubs said with a shrug, and Jimmy nodded brightly.
"Also, investing in a cape would probably be-" The dark blonde was cut off by a disappointed groan from his roommate and a sharp, 'Absolutely not!' from Cleo. "Oh, come on they aren't that bad, guys-"
He was again cut off from a simultaneous, "Capes are a disgrace to vigilantes everywhere!", from Cleo and BDubs, who paused immediately afterwards and stared at each other.
"Wow, now I know where BDubs gets it from." Jimmy muttered, and Etho nodded with an amused smile.
There was a shout from Lizzie behind the counter. "Cleo, I'm adding a cape to the Shadow Queen costume!" Cleo spun around with a dismayed, 'You too?' as Etho stared at Lizzie.
"You're both vigilantes?!" He said, clearly shocked.
"Well done, genius." Cleo said bluntly, and it took everything in Jimmy's power not to burst out laughing as the two stared blankly at each other.
"I am a genius, thank you very much." Etho huffed after a few moments, and Cleo rolled her eyes, muttering under her breath as she walked back over to convince Lizzie that capes were a disgrace. "I'm a genius, right?" They added, glancing between BDubs and Jimmy.
"Ehh..." Jimmy smiled awkwardly and BDubs shrugged as the snowy-haired man let out a sigh of joking disappointment.
"I can't believe you'd do this to me, BDubs and also Jimmy, I can't believe you'd-" Etho paused, staring at his phone, which was lying flat on the table, as a notification popped up. "Ahhhh, crap. Viridian."
"Bank robbery?" BDubs guessed, already getting up and moving the bag slung around his shoulder so he could open it.
"Yep. He- does that a lot, wow. I need to go back to my place and get my weapons and stuff-" Jimmy stared at Etho in mild confusion.
"Do you not... bring your vigilante stuff with you whenever you go out?" The winged man asked slowly, reaching for the bag he'd dropped on the floor. BDubs' friend stared back blankly.
"Uh- no?" BDubs sighed.
"You're a lost cause. You have fun getting your stuff, we have a villain to fight. Loser." Jimmy elbowed his roommate sharply. "What? They are."
"Be nice..." The brown eyed man then shot a smile in Etho's direction. "See you at the fight!
