Taylor thought the Victoria's Secret after party had been a turning point for her relationship with Harry at first. They had been civil enough up until this point, Taylor would send him the odd text message here and there and he would do the same, at awards shows and events they would exchange greetings, but nothing ever escalated past the point of just being friendly. And Taylor was okay with that. She thought she was okay with that, she had to be.

Harry's presence at the after party was unexpected to Taylor; she was already on her second glass of wine when he arrived, and she was quickly onto a third and then fourth as she watched him glide around the room, creating conversations so easily with people even Taylor didn't know. He was so charismatic and charming, something Taylor knew she missed, but would quickly deny if anyone ever asked her. She tried to keep the conversation going with Karlie and a few of the other VS models, but nothing was distracting enough to keep her eyes off him. Why was he here anyway? Taylor just rolled her eyes when she saw him making one of the models laugh, secretly wishing it was her.

But when their eyes finally met, she could all of a sudden feel the butterflies exploding in her stomach. It was such an intense and passionate feeling, something she hadn't felt since the last night they had spent together. She wasn't sure if it was the alcohol blurring her senses, but in that moment she knew she needed to talk to him, she couldn't let this perfect opportunity slip through her fingers. She excused herself from the group she was sitting with and had to stop herself from sprinting towards him, instead she kept her composure and just gripped the glass of wine much tighter than she had before. He started walking towards her, the both of them eventually meeting in the middle of the room. Anyone sober would have noticed the sexual tension between them immediately, but luckily for them there was no person sober in sight.

Harry suddenly grabbed Taylor's hand, dragging her to a quiet and cosy corner, away from prying eyes. Taylor glanced back a couple of times, obviously worried that someone would see them talking and without a doubt something would come out of it. Harry could immediately sense her apprehension, and placed a comforting hand on her thigh once they were both seated on the couch, which caused Taylor to jump slightly from the cool touch of his hand. She was so jumpy and nervous all of a sudden, a feeling she wasn't used to and hadn't experienced from any other guy in a long time.

"You're here..." Taylor wasn't sure if she was asking him a question or just stating the obvious, but either way his presence was making her much too nervous to say too much more. She placed her wine on the table in front of her, fearing that she would humiliate herself and spill it everywhere thanks to her continuously growing nerves.

"I am. Sorry I couldn't make it to the actual show... I heard you were quite the standout, no surprises there." Harry was proud of Taylor. Although they weren't together anymore, he still tried his best to keep up with her life and success, for some reason he couldn't stop himself from changing the channel when she was on TV or from buying a magazine when he spotted her stunning face on the cover. It had never been like this with any of his other exes; he would usually move on and the past would stay the past. But something inside of him was telling him that he had never completely moved on from Taylor, and this conversation was just confirming his thoughts.

"You don't need to apologise, I didn't expect you to be there for me or anything... I mean, not that I didn't want you there. I do, I mean I wouldn't have minded if you were there, I'm sure Ed would have appreciated it too, but I..." She was rambling now, a trait she acquired whenever she became nervous. She was relieved when Harry interrupted her.

"Tay, I get it. We're friends, right? Friends are there to support their friends. Not that you need me, anyway, you've got so many great friends that all support you." He didn't mean to sound abrupt, but seeing Taylor so happy with her close friends made him a little jealous. He used to have that life with her; he recalled the first time he met her friends, she had invited him to dinner for one of their birthdays and it was the first time Harry felt like people wanted to get to know him for him, not Harry Styles, One Direction member, but just Harry. He had hoped to spend more time with Taylor and her friends, but things hadn't exactly gone to plan.

"What do you mean?"

"I just..."

"I do need you, Harry." The words just slipped out before Taylor could hold them back, and immediately she wished she hadn't been so forward. She mentally slapped herself as she tried to figure out how to dig her way out of this one.

"You what?" Harry looked at Taylor with wide eyes, trying to understand what she meant.

"I um..." Taylor tried to backtrack and pretend she hadn't said anything, but the look of confusion and worry read all over Harry's face, and she knew it was too late. "I have to go." She could feel her eyes starting to water and she knew she had to get out of there. Without a second thought, she bolted towards the exit, trying to keep her composure and not bring any attention to herself.

It was at this point she become very thankful that the after party was held in the same hotel she was staying in. She was almost tempted to look back to see if Harry had followed her, but she didn't look back, she couldn't look back as she fumbled through her clutch as quickly as possible to find her room key. She stumbled over her long dress in her heels numerous times but eventually made it back to her room, the tears now flowing fast as she immediately grabbed the polaroid from her wallet and held it tightly, letting the makeup run down her face as she yanked her dress up so that she could throw her heels off and collapsed back onto the bed.

She didn't want to be sad, or come off as weak. The tears weren't planned and neither was the sort of confession she had made to Harry.

Things had quickly turned from amazing to okay and then a complete mess, and Taylor wished she knew why these feelings for Harry had intensified so suddenly. She had been perfectly fine up until this point, great even. It was like all of a sudden a switch in her heart had flicked on, a light shining so bright through the darkness, looking for one person in particular that could keep the light and brightness in her life alive. Harry was that light and for her, it had always been him. Why had it taken her so long to figure that out?

After a couple of minutes, Taylor felt like she needed to pick herself up and get it together; there was no use crying over something she knew couldn't change. She decided to firstly get up and clean her face, so she started rummaging through her suitcase for her make up remover wipes, but didn't get very far in finding them when there was a loud banging on her door. She huffed a little, wondering who the heck would be game enough to bang on her door this late at night. She grumbled all the way to the door, and it wasn't until she opened the door and it was too late that she clicked to who it would be.

An out of breathe Harry was leaning against the door frame, now looking at her with those familiar green eyes, but instead of happiness and love they were filled with anger and confusion.

"What the fuck was that?" With those words coming from his mouth, Taylor knew she had some explaining to do.
