Rvb S10 E2 "Keeping a Promise"
Past/Church Household
It's been few days since the funeral and during that time, Allison has been writing adoption paperworks. These paperworks are the adoption forms for the boy at the funeral. While, she wrote the paperwork she couldn't stop thinking of what that poor boy is going through. No child at such a young age should see their parents dead... she couldn't even imagine how her own child would handle it, if anything where to happen to her.
After days of filling forms, she finally finished the paperwork and had it all neatly stapled together. Now, was the part she was dreading... for the past days, while she's been writing these forms, she's not once mentioned it to her husband. Why? Simply because she knows how much he's going to be against this.
Her husband Leonard, didn't really like Lucas and Sharon, always saying there was something off with them. But she didn't care about what he said and what he's going to say. Because either he likes it or not... she's going to adopt that boy.
She makes her way downstairs and see's Leonard in the living room, sitting on the couch and watching the news on the television. She makes her way over to him and grabs the remote, turning the TV off.
When the TV flashes off, he sighs and faces his wife. When she looks at him, she can get a clear look of his short black hair and recently shaved beard. He looked at her with those bright green eyes of his, looking at her in annoyance.
Leonard: Do you seriously have to do that all the time?
Allison: (Sarcastically) I'm sorry, where you watching that?
Leonard: (Frowns) I don't appreciate the sarcasm.
Allison rolls her eyes, before standing in front of the television.
Allison: Leonard, we need to talk.
Leonard: Talk about what?
As soon as he said that, she pulls out the adoption paperworks and places it onto the coffee table and sliding towards him.
Leonard: What is this?
Allison: Just read it.
He looks at her and the paperworks confused, before picking it up and starts to read it over. As his eyes move across the paperworks, he goes from confusion to shock. He places the paperworks back onto the coffee table and takes off his glasses, rubbing his forehead.
Leonard: Do I even want to ask, why you want to adopt this boy?
Allison: (Annoyed) Well, 'this boy' is the child of my friends who're dead. The funeral you didn't attend with me because apparently 'work' suddenly, came up for you.
He stands up from the couch, turning to her.
Leonard: I told I'm sorry about that, but you know how important my work, now these days.
Allison just crosses her arms at this.
Allison: More important then attending a funeral.
Leonard sighs, knowing he can't get out of this.
Leonard: Let's just move on from that and go back to the topic of this boy. Why can't any relative of his, just take him instead?
Allison: Because he doesn't have any relatives that CAN take him.
Leonard: Well, then just let someone else adopt him.
Allison: No! We have to be the ones to adopt him!
Leonard: Why do we have to adopt him!?
Allison: BECAUSE I MADE A PROMISE!?!?
He falls silent as Allison hands clench to her sides, but both their faces go pale when they hear a door upstairs open.
???: Mum, Dad?
They both look up at the stairs to see a girl with eyes like her father and red hair tied up in a ponytail. She was currently sitting at the top of the stair case, worriedly looking at the both of them.
Girl: Why are you two fighting?
Allison: (Sighs) Go back to your room sweety, me and your father are just talking about something.
Girl: But-
Leonard: Listen to your mother, Lina.
The girl known as Lina stands up and heads back into her room. They both waited quietly for the sound of her door closing, before Allison turns back to Leonard.
Allison: You want to know why, I want to adopt him? Before Lucas and Sharon died... they asked me, if could look after their son while they we're gone. And I told them yes, promising it to them... just before they died with smiles on their faces.
She wipes a tear away.
Allison: It was the last thing they ever said to me and I'm dam well, going to keep my promise to them.
She roughly jabs her finger at Leonard's chest.
Allison: And your not going to stop me.
Leonard stares at her for a moment, before letting out a deep breath.
Leonard: Fine... do what you want.
Allison: I will.
Allison grabs her paperwork and heads towards the front door. She grabs a black coat and her car keys, before heading outside. Leonard watches her leave and heads over to the front window, seeing her get into her white SUV and driving off. He goes to sit back down onto the couch.
Leonard: (Sighs) Sometimes I just don't understand that women.
Foster Care Center
It was a twenty minute drive for Allison to reach the Foster Care Center. It was located just outside of town, where it was quiet and peaceful for any children living there.
She drives up to the building and parks her car into the parking lot just at the front of the place. Once she's parked, she gets her stuff and exits the car, walking towards the building and locking her car on the way.
Pushing the front doors open, she's greeted by a waiting room and a desk with a female receptionist sitting there. She walks over to the front desk, as the receptionist looks up at her with a smile.
Receptionist: Hello mam, how can I help you today?
Allison: I've came here to hand in some adoption paperworks for one of the children here.
She says, while placing the paperwork onto the desk.
Receptionist: Alright, I'll have someone look these over and get back to you in a few days.
The receptionist goes to put the paperwork away, until Allison places her hand on it, stopping her.
Allison: Would I be able to adopt today?
The Receptionist gives her a strange look.
Receptionist: Today? I don't think that'll be possible mam. Whose the child your looking to adopt?
Allison: His name is Leo.
The receptionist nods and types some things onto her computer that's on her desk.
Receptionist: And his surname name?
Allison: It's... Gates.
