Colorado pulled her blonde hair back into a ponytail. She was getting suited up for another boring day.
She pulled her green armour on, seeing the familiar blue tint from her visor.
Hm. Possibly needing cleaning later.
The agent stood up, stretching. Her arms stretched with a satisfying pop as she exited her bunk.
"Hm. Coffee, training, lunch, mission, after mission... maybe messing around with people?" Colorado mumbled to herself, her Australian accent thick in her voice. It wasn't unpleasant, it was actually beautiful.
She walked to the mess hall, made herself a cup of coffee, and sat down. The soldier pulled her helmet off with a hiss and set it down on the table, fore taking a sip of her coffee. Perfect temperature!
One of her best friends, Nevada, sat down across from her, holding an apple.
Nev waved, unable to speak. She had gotten shot in the vocal cords. Colorado still remembered hearing that news. She had collapsed on the floor, before taking a deep breath and standing up, convincing herself Nevada would be okay.
And she was.
"Hullo, Nev. Getting tired of Jersey yet?" Colorado was referring to Nev's boyfriend, agent New Jersey.
Nev shook her head, letting out a wheezy laugh.
"Ahh. That's well, then."
Nevada nodded, tapping her fingers on the table. Both girls whipped around as a scream as ushered from the doorway, a rookie flying through and hitting with wall.
A soldier in red and black armor entered the mess hall, everyone staring at him. As they watched, he pulled a knife out of his side and used it to stab the rookie in the leg.
Colorado jumped up, shoving her helmet on as she yelled, "Hey!"
The guy looked up at her silently, the stabbing victim crying in pain.
"There was NO reason for that!" Colorado growled. Nev would be yelling at her if she had a voice. Such a stupid move!
The stabbed scoffed, speaking in a deep voice.
"And why does this concern you?"
Colorado stepped forward, almost in his face.
"There. Was no. NEED," She growled firmly.
Suddenly, she couldn't breath. The collapsed to the ground and looked up, her eyes streaming. The guy put his hand back down. He had struck her in the throat.
Nev jumped up, running over. She took her helmet off, revealing soft brown eyes and silky brown hair. She was glaring, full force, at the mystery guy.
"I'm Kodiak, nice to meet you," The tall man said, his voice dripping with sarcasm. He walked away.
Colorado was still gasping for air, Nev gently helping by pressing on the freelancer's chest.
She looked up at her friends, wheezing a small, "Thank you," to which Nev nodded, glaring at Kodiak from across the lunchroom.
"Asshole," Rado snarled. Nev nodded in agreement.
"We should get Maine to beat the fuck out of him," Colorado says deviously. Nev snorts, pulling the girl up.
"Fine, maybe just simply talking to him."
They watched at Kodiak hit his mug against the table, shattering it. He tucked a shard of glass in his suit, which Rado took note of.
She looked at Nev, giving a significant glance. The mute female nodded, walking away.
"Hm... probably off to murder some people," Rado snorted, thinking about where Kodiak was heading. She followed nonetheless.
