Chapter 17 Fallen Goddess

Another day, another escape series.

The Zhuque sect renowned Chaos Duo once again happily leave their sect without informing anyone, making sure that Ko Shun'U won't be able to tail them. Unlike this duo, the others are quite diligent on their studies in every field, so they could be a help to their sect in the future. Not that Wei Ying and Tiao Reinshun are not, they're just simply knew how to relax.

Cangse Sanren once said that all of the kids are talented and smart on their fields, so they don't have to push themselves so hard and they could rest and relax once in a while.

Wei Ying even tries to drag them but it's no use, they keep repeating they are doing it for him, for Wei Ying.

The young master asked what they mean, but they only smile at him. Which makes him curious, but no one wants to answer him, so he complained this to Tiao Reinshun; the girl only sigh and smile, shook her head and pats his shoulder as if comforting him, which only raises his curiosity and confusion.

Putting it in the back of his mind, noting himself to ask it again in the future, the now fourteen years old Wei Ying, and Tiao Reinshun who is currently thirteen, have arrived at the foot of Dafan Mountain.

Before going here, Wei Ying and Tiao Reinshun able to gain information about strange occurrence in this place. From where? Where else but in House of Zhang, the house that keeping information that gathered through various means.

At first, nothing interests the Chaos Duo, until they stumble into certain documents about Dafan Mountain. Feeling all familiar with the place since Myo Qing and Myo Ning were found there, Wei Ying reads it.

One of cases is about a wealthy merchant: according to the documents, the merchant is quite a greedy one, being wealthy and making himself wealthier, but what questionable is despite being all wealthy why is he still staying at foot of Dafan Mountain. People heard that the merchant have found a treasure one day at the mountain, in happiness the merchant threw a banquet, and at the very same night the merchant died.

The second case is about a woman: according to the citizens, the woman's sister is about to marry but then the fiancée of her sister switches his eyes towards the woman, thus they married instead. Three days after consummating their marriage the woman died. At first people close the case saying that the sister must curse her, but they very well known the sister and claimed that she isn't someone who would do it, especially by how much she loves her sister. But who knows?

And the last case is about another woman. This time the lady at age of eighteen desires to enter the imperial palace as a concubine to meet the prince, the one who will be the next in line of throne. It came true, but they heard, and was confirmed by House of Zhang's members that the lady concubine abruptly died right instant she meets the imperial prince. Poison or any of sort were not found in her, and according to the State Preceptor of Imperial Palace, she lost her soul.

Hearing this, the House Zhang reinvestigate the other cases and found that they have similarities, and that is they are all come up at the mountain and pray at Peri, the stone goddess.

Finally, fire has ignited at Wei Ying and Tiao Reinshun, which leads them here now.

Just like Wei Ying remembered, the streets are totally busy; vendors cries how amazing and how cheap their products, madams that are busy gossiping, potential customers looking around and couriers carrying sacks of items in haste, and since they are in such hurry whoever in their ways was shove away not even receiving apologies and instead getting harsh condemnation for being in their way.

Wei Ying witnessed an old woman get shoved on the side getting her purses and groceries scattered in ground, while the courier gives her not-so-good comments as he continues on his way, quick as always in helping people, Wei Ying went to the old woman and help her stand up, picking up her purse and groceries, giving it all back to her, Wei Ying even guided her to the nearest bench so she could rest.

They talk for a while, the old woman thanking Wei Ying for his kindness and praises his appearance, but was halted after Wei Ying hears Tiao Reinshun calling for him.

Apparently as Wei Ying is busy at helping the old woman, Tiao Reinshun is gathering information about their case, and just as she ended gathering, she calls for her sect brother.

Wei Ying bid his farewell to the old woman and jogs towards his sect sister.

After getting all the information and connects the dots of events, the Chaos Duo are now determined to their destination.

As they are flying towards above the mountain searching for the stone goddess' temple, Wei Ying looks down as if looking for something other than the temple.

"What it is Bro Ying?"

"Before, when we first came here, I saw lines of dark smoke within the forest."

"Are those... resentful energies?"

"Perhaps..."

Both teens determined that it is indeed resentful energy, seeing what kind of place the Dafan Mountain is.

Tiao Reinshun points something below, and Wei Ying found the temple she is pointing at.

"Woah... it is actually near at A-Ning's former village."

"Really? Then let's visit it after this." Wei Ying agreed as they land in front of the temple and enters.

They look around, wiping their fingers into surface and brush off the dirt afterward. Despite being a temple that people actually going into seeing there's burnt incense on the altar, no one clean this place. They look up and clearly sees spider webs on the corners of ceilings.

In short, this temple has been abandoned when it comes to cleanliness. Why is that? It's probably because of the rumors they both heard from the residence in the foot of mountain.

"Shall we do it? or shall we wait?"

"Want to lose your soul?"

"No."

"So do I."

"It is waiting then."

And just like that the two teens waits, 'till the dusk came in.

But will it show itself despite the two never make a wish? That question will be answer once the orange dew change into dark blue.

The two woken up in their light sleep, stood up and do some stretching, while their eyes are pinned into the unmoving statue.

Wei Ying felt odd while staring at the goddess stone.

"What's up?"

"Is she been looking at us, all this time?"

"No, her eyes are close—" Tiao Reinshun stop on her sentence when she also sees what Wei Ying is questioning. "Wow, fuck!"

Really, it's odd.

Before sleeping earlier, they observe the carves of the stone, clearly, they are sure the goddess has her eyes close, why it is now looking down at them?

They both curse even more when it started moving, creating vibration on the whole place. It feels like the temple will collapse at the tremor. Wei Ying unsheathed his sword, while Tiao Reinshun opens her steel fan, ready to either defend themselves or attack it.

They could hear various cracks of rocks coming from the statue as it moves its left arm, brings down its right leg on the altar, followed by its left leg, open and closes its left hand as if easing the numbness on its muscles.

The Chaos Duo cursed again witnessing it circling its head. It is made in rock so it doesn't have bones that would numb for it to do some stretching, and yet it acts like some human who didn't able to move for several hours.

They peaked at each other as if they both wanted to question the other and yet they stay quiet knowing both doesn't know the answer either.

Regardless of what the statue is up to, the teens didn't put their guard down, and it turns out that they made a right choice, as the statue shockingly runs towards them, which make them let out another string of curses.

They jump on their respective sides to dodge its rushing arms. The almost flat surface they previously standing at is now a deep crater created by the punch from the Peri.

The cracking of the stone made the Chaos Duo alerted, searching for the moving part. It turns its head towards Wei Ying and launch a punch on him, which he quickly dodges.

For quite some time the Peri only aims for Wei Ying and completely ignores the girl behind it.

"Am I that small to get ignore?" she pouted.

"Just be glad that it is not targeting you. It's not easy after all."

"Brother Ying, this bitch might have crush on you!"

"Or want to crash me! It's getting faster!"

Tiao Reinshun could clearly see that. Just because she's being ignore doesn't mean she will relax and left everything to her brother.

As a thanks for taking its full attention, Tiao Reinshun have been searching for weak spot to defeat it in one swift attack, or maybe two.

Wei Ying brings out a string made of spiritual energy, and it ties Peri's legs together. This cause for Peri to lose her balance and falls, which creates a strong earthquake, for a second the two teens fears that it might cause earthflow which could kill thousands of people way down at the mountain.

They stay quiet for a quick minute, listening to any possible disaster. Both sighs in relief after some minutes of waiting, that earthquake at least didn't make any disaster.

It's really dangerous fighting the Peri in this place, and they knew that, so they really meant to fight it without letting it to move so much. That also the reason why Tiao Reinshun and Wei Ying both looking for a weak spot. A crack that would destroy it completely. But where? Where is that? Do they instead have to seal it, so it won't eat human soul anymore? They're have trouble thinking of what they should do when their eyes widen.

Finally, finally they found those!

Without talking, Wei Ying put spiritual energy on his sword that it started to fly up, away from him, and its tip is pointing at a certain part of the Peri.

Tiao Reinshun fed her steel fan with her spiritual energy, and jumps so high, her eyes were glaring at the spot she chooses.

Their black outer robes and their sect's pendant were dancing as winds are gathering around the girl in the air.

Red spiritual energy was emitting from Wei Ying and his sword's glare.

With smile, the girl in the air pulls a force to whirl her whole being and finally release the wind she gathers on her fan and aims it at Peri's back neck where a very small crack could be seen.

At the same time Wei Ying command his sword to stabbed Peri's back neck.

After their successful attacks, Tiao Reinshun landed on a side, while Wei Ying's sword came back to his hand, ready themselves to attack anytime.

They waited for seconds, minutes and even half an hour, before they could hear feats of cracklings from the Peri. They watch as Peri have finally perished.

Sighs escapes from them when they no longer could sense her aura. Wei Ying and Tiao Reinshun fell on their bottoms and relaxed their selves and for the last time both curses.
